Still have major potential on the software tweaking since the hardware is so much superior on paper.

I've been using the Samsung Z fold5. Tried the Oppo Find N3 in the shop, I feel like the design of the Oppo/OnePlus is just 1-2 generations ahead of the Fold5. Software is also better. Now ordering OnePlus Open to replace my fold5

Can the icons in the launcher be in a 5x grid instead of 4x? This is quite important for me tbh

You can't ask for anything better. This is top of the line man. Just ordered. This is like pure luxury. People can't argue price anymore. Idc. Samsung is much higher you're getting so so much more here. You can ahh but it's first gen. More like 5th Gen. They've made the phone of the year.

The question no one can answer for me is, will they actually let people have this phone on contract? Most normal people can't pull 1.5 grand out of their arse.

Edit I've actually emailed the OnePlus support to ask them because it's bullshit, most people are unable to afford such a big lump sum.

I'm afraid the aesthetics alone are enough to put me off. Was looking forward to the launch of this, having had both the OnePlus 6 and 7Pro, thinking my next device might be a foldable. However, two colour options, fake leather and green. Hardly inspiring. Less so when in the UK all we get is the green option. And that huge camera module is hideous.
Ironically, this phone effectively being an OPPO, it seems strange that the stunning aesthetics of their Find X5 Pro have been ditched in favour of this monstrosity.
I'll be sticking with the X5.

Personally, I'm still happy with a thin slab which slips into a second screen, when I want, 3.5mm headphone socket, sd card slot, 256gb onboard, quad DAC... Cost £650.

honestly this phone is better than the Z Fold in every way except for the IPX4 vs IPX8 and lack of wireless charging. the camera is actually good, almost creaseless, better aspect ratio, thinner, way faster wired charging, a hinge that snaps open and shut that still allows being open at other angles, pen support for both outer and inner screen, and for the first time superior multitasking on the software side. all for around $220 less when compared to the comparable 512gb/16gb model. but really more like at most 1500 when you trade in any phone.. i’m an iphone user again but this would be my top foldable choice before samsung for sure

I don't see phone is necessary to have this folding capability, but rather tablets needs it the most.

I’d like to know, do they give you this phone for good, to keep, if you give them a good review because every you tube review is positive and this way of advertising is the only way people get to know about this phone, as you can’t go and see the phone in any shop as they’re not selling it in store across Europe. The only way to get it in one’s hands is to buy it and for that to happen they obviously need really good reviews?

For me the durability is still an issue. You don't need more than 4 years of updates if your phone doesn't last that long anyways

Only downside... you can't use selfie stick... which really helps a lot in taking pics as it lets you go for more angles...

Great vlog as always Tom. This is the first time a foldable has made me think hello I could go for this. Camera and software has always been my main buying point and this looks better. I currently own have a pixel 8 pro and love this aspect. Will be interesting to see how this evolves as I may in the future go for a foldable. Also the price point is still expensive but going in the right direction.

You said better software and multitasking, but i did not see it running 3 apps, split screen side by side at the same time like when you had reviewed the Z Fold 5. When and IF I’m looking at a foldable phone, a bigger screen and tablet like capable device, i am trying to multi task beneficial of that bigger screen and run multiple apps side by side at the same time - NOT flick around between apps. That is worser in the multi-tasking efficiency grading. Don’t get me wrong, i love the bigger screen instead of the narrow screen from the fold 5, but i wouldnt quite call this a better phone just yet base on reviews.

I am currently looking to upgrade. Want the camera system and OS speed and power of the iPhone 15, but I need the multitasking and screen displacement of the foldable phones. This is tough.
