How to Use Wiha's Magnetizer and Demagnetizer

What about tips? I've been trying to magnetize my drill bit and screwdriver tips as well as my interchangeable head screwdriver and no such luck here. PS I have this exact model

When using the demagnetizer side, why is the screwdriver passed through three times, once on each of the 'steps'?

How long will this last?

I've tried over and over to demagnetize a piece of metal that is 6 in long and 1/8 in thick using this exact brand and model. Followed the instructions exactly as shown but just as magnetic as before.
