The Seiko SSC813 Speedtimer After the Hype: Is It Still Worth $675? One Week Review

Just picked one up for $350 pre-owned, but new in box in a Japanese thrift store. Super stocked to get this watch at that price! I've come across quite a few around the $400 mark at other stores as well.

What size strap do I need to get for this watch? Awesome video! Just subscribed

I don’t see anything wrong with the bracelet and I find it totally comfortable that being said, I prefer Jubilee style bracelets and strapcode makes one for this watch and it’s gorgeous on the wrist

one detail most reviewers miss is, the 6 o'clock subdial is smaller than the 3 and 9

The size is too small.

Just picked up the panda ($455 chrono-addict) and immediately bought Strapcode's 20mm Hexad III QR Watch Band Straight End Quick Release, 316L Stainless Steel Brushed V-Clasp ($89) and honestly, it's the perfect set up. My new beater and I love it!

Great video. I bought mine about a month ago. Love it. Just having a hard time removing the bracelet.

Now, it is just selling for under $500 in my country. I’ll definitely pick it up.

Seiko has so much money and so much experience making watches yet they always let themselves down on every watch they make with certain little things. Mines the date window being indented so far down, the pointless lume and the ugly unjustable bracelet

Hope to get one in the future. Looks great, I'm sure it'll wear great too. Can always change the bracelet so not a biggie... Plus it's a cheaper version of a panda. Nice watch BTW...

I just bought it a couple months ago and it's such a pleasure to wear. It's become my daily go to just because it's such a simple watch to pick up and go. It is a shame tho, that there is no half links in the bracelet. I took 3 links out and it's a bit tight on my 7“ wrist but if I put one back it's too loose for me. That half link would have made it a perfect fit.

I have this one saved for months to order but my grail chronograph is the Hamilton Intra-matic.

Too small. Want the SSC911 for my 8+ inch wrist. Lume is better and the red second hand is way better IMHO.

This one or a Seiko Gmt SK001B1? Help me in this choice! Lol

It is a great watch to start of with for an amateur collector. It is an even greater choice for people with small wrist like me. Best part the white panda dial can go with any strap which gives you a lot of options.

Surely the only objective consideration as to whether a watch is any good is how accurate it is. Everything else in this video is just subjective fluff.

So does anyone know it’s accuracy?

never been a fan of solar. if this watch was automatic i wouldnt hesitate to pick it up. still a very a nice watch.

Accuracy quite good for a watch at this price. It keeps time with my PCAT E660, +1/-1 a day. Very happy with it.

I have an orient panda chrono which is less than half the price of the Seiko. Aside from not having sapphire crystal I think everything else is pretty comparable, and I think the dial of the orient is a bit more unique rather than being too similar to the Rolex daytona.

I saw this watch in a storefront and it really catched my eye. At that price tag I decided to check it online first. The looks are great, didn't know the deal on that solar charging. What I don't like is that the SEIKO logo is pretty big on the dial. I think it looks amazing how you have it with that black bracelet! I also saw this exact same watch totally blacked out which looks pretty amazing as well as that seiko logo is not standing out so much as with this one. Of course the panda dial is lovely. I am still on the edge of getting this watch.

I’m about to buy that watch but then an offer for the same price for a Ball is presented to me and I can’t lose that opportunity.

Way too many faults for the price. Loom and bracelet issues more than enough to keep the 700 in your wallet. Might be worth it to get a used one and put an endmill on it when they're available.

About $1000-1300 for the Ice blue here in Russia and yes - still worth it

Interesting option. I am looking for a quartz Chrono to dip my feet before dropping 3500+ on mechanical. Like you said it would be awesome for a more premium 3rd party bracelet to come out.

This is a beautiful watch but the reason why its so hot is because it looks exactly like the rolex Daytona, let's face it thats why we all love it, let's be honest.

Love the piece - honestly minus the bracelet I think it’s great. I do wish the crowns were screwdown like their old flightmaster model and had a ceramic bezel but it’s a minor thing. The thing I love most about this variant is how versatile it is with straps - this thing is a strap beast. Any colour works.

It’s a great watch. I’ve handled one and tried it on. I did not purchase it… I’m a Seiko fan, But not a ‘fan boy’… I believe it’s priced at least $150 over what it should be, but that’s par for the course for Seiko nowadays. It’s no secret that over the last couple of years they have raise their prices considerably and In my opinion haven’t added better specifications/quality to the product. Or at least not enough to justify the 30 to 50% increases in price… Thanks for the great review.

I dunno as someone who is new to watches...every review I see is people trying to justify why this watch could possibly be worth $675? Sounds to me like Seiko used to provide lots of value for money but those days appear to be gone. The watch looks good but it has almost no lume, useless 24 hour subdial (why not a 12 hour totalizer)? Should be $500 not almost $700. On the other hand citizen is trying to charge $715 for their bullhead quartz chrono so maybe thats just the way of things now.

I got the call from my AD for my Pelagos 39, when I purchased the watch l got a £200 discount voucher which was a nice bonus 😅 While I was waiting to get the bracelet resized, l saw this Seiko so l asked to try it on, l was immediately impressed with how well it wore on my 6.25” wrist so in the end, l walked out with 2 great watches 😅✌️

This definitely has Daytona Panda vibes but for a fraction of the (over inflated) price.

If you feel that frustrated and upset why don’t you develop your own? It will probably be the same of very similar. You complain over something you your self cant make better!
