I never have heard of this idea that in bjj if you are on top position you are on top position and the bottom guy is bottom position? like wtf thats very counter intuitive. So sweeps dont exist?
Ответитьthats exactly why sambo is so effective in MMA. It concentrates primarily on the two aspect of grappling, Danaher said, are lacking in bjj. Maintaining dominant position and getting out of it or getting back up. And i think also chosen judo is designed like that. Especially when back in the day with a whole samurai gear on there was not much you could do when lying on the ground. So your primary goal was either no even getting there or get back up as fast as possible.
On one hand its kind of sad to see bjj losing its importance in the combat world, on the other hand i really look forward how the sport will envolve and come up with new ideas (or also with renewing old concepts, i mean its not like judo in particular doesnt train in holds and judo players are pretty strong in holding ppl on the ground, especially with a gi on where you can establish dominant grips). However. Nice insightful perspective from Danaher 8.5/10 👌 Would watch again!
Good to know my gym has fixed jiu jitsu.
ОтветитьLex luthor vibes from the wizard himself😂
ОтветитьI think jiu-jitsu is very exciting just as much as a knock out but there is a lot of times where when it comes to jiu-jitsu, especially in MMA when we’re talking about the UFC it’s not as entertaining as two people standing up and bang it out or somebody be an all-around fighter and they’re using a little bit of wrestling submission, striking kicking all of these different arenas
ОтветитьThe “god position” have to love the transcription
ОтветитьAs a wrestler who now does Jiu Jitsu, even with only 6 months of experience, I have noticed those 2 later deficiencies myself. Perhaps a rule change in the point system of tournaments to more greatly punish taking the guard position unnecissarily or more greatly reward escapes could fix the issue of expecting your opponent to accept your guard position. You maybe also add a component like they did in college wrestling were you score a point for maintaining a top position for a long period of time. This could be applied even if you have your opponent in your guard, incentivising top positional dominance. If youre on your butt, the clock is against you. Just a thought. Ill leave it to others who know more than me though.
ОтветитьThat's because the Brazilians took jujitsu and dumb it down to guard pullers... I will never understand why Brazilian jujitsu is more popular than japanese jujutsu...
ОтветитьThe mandalorian is inspired on danaher. Nr rule. Never take of your rashguard
ОтветитьThis guy wears his rash guard and full bkk gear to fuck . I’m sure of it
ОтветитьTakedowns are a serious discipline of equal complexity to the ground game. The current points system in BJJ doesn’t reward takedowns enough to warrant anywhere near equal training time hence the lack of emphasis. Additionally, takedowns have slightly higher risk of injury than pure ground grappling and therefore most of the casuals out there are hesitant to train regularly.
ОтветитьI put a huge focus in learning wrestling first when I started BJJ a year ago, now everytime I roll with someone new they ask if I wrestled lmao. I would love to see wrestling become far more emphasized in BJJ.
ОтветитьJiu jitsu is going to have to mature? Say what you will about Danaher but these things he talks about have always been a heavy focus in the self defense system of Helio Gracie.
ОтветитьThe asmr mic setup is killing me
ОтветитьIt's sad Craig jones has done more in a few years. Craig could do leg locks because of Lachlan ghiles, his tutorial just stand up, wrestling from Nicky rod. John you passed it to b team and now your dream is coming true.
ОтветитьI don't know that the leglock issue has been solved in regards to MMA, you still hardly see them there. If you're training without strikes then things will always look very different compared to when strikes are introduced as well.
ОтветитьThe problem with bjj and imposing top position dominance is the mentality of bjj. Its highly vaginal. People get mad when you go rough and they cant just practice some soft ass bottom technique than they complain because bjj people have this mentality where roughness equates to shitty bjj and being a vagina is still suitable to win in battle. Look how wrestlers practice and fight to get position. Then look at bjj. Imposing will on someone with a good guard is going to get a little rough. BJJ is not the problem its the average practitioner who really dont have any gritty toughness because they complain so much when things get physical. At the end of the day when you do a tournament the shit gets rough. Its the same thing with people who spar super light and then get in a real confrontation and get there head blown off by someone who is ready to fight for real.
ОтветитьJRE completely changed the way I see things for the better. In general, it changed my whole life.
ОтветитьAt kings mma, they teach us judo takedowns mixed in with wrestling takedowns which I throughly enjoy. Naturally I’m a striker/muay thia background with 1 year of wrestling in middle school 😅. I enjoy learning grappling from the ground up not just as pure bjj
ОтветитьIf you want to compete then I see the value in being veery versatile off your back but if you do BJJ for mostly self defense reasons you really should be focused on top control and top submissions because being on the bottom in a street fight is very bad no matter how good your guard is
ОтветитьHe's 100 right on this
ОтветитьMr. Danaher, change jiu-jitsu by making a clear statement about doping. Take distance off Gordon Ryan if he's not willing to work for clean sports too. That would change something. Otherwise the sport is going to turn into a freashow like bodybuilding and no sane person respects that.
ОтветитьImagine being lost and asking this guy for directions, without knowing who he is.
ОтветитьThe problem with wrestling v bjj within MMA is that bjj players are happy to go to their back and work control only to isolate and submit. Wrestling is totally focused on control and when a wrestler is on top they want to smash your face. “Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face.”
ОтветитьI've always thought that if you're going to call Jiu-Jitsu matches "fights" the least you can do is introduce a realistic element of fighting or at least grappling which is the ability to pick somebody up and slam them. (within reasonable saftey) This kind of idea really upsets jiu jitsu purists because it effectively nullifies so many of their techniques.
ОтветитьThere just needs to be a hybrid grappling art that is a mix of no gi Judo, jiu-jitsu, and wrestling.
ОтветитьI wonder if he ever takes the rash guards off
ОтветитьKron Gracie should have spent some time with this gentleman before trying to re-enter the UFC.
ОтветитьJohn Danaher looks like he was born from a slimy aliens womb. Or maybe it's stomach.
ОтветитьJudo is the best imo
ОтветитьThis nerd knows nothing about striking. Stick to the jits
ОтветитьHes right im a boxer wrestler and i just learned enough juijitsu to avoid the pesky locks lol i doninate outside of that. Good enough wrestling to maintain top pos enough knowledge not to ger submitted is all you need for juijitsu.
ОтветитьSpeak up dude
ОтветитьJamie get my boy with the rash guard some water
ОтветитьJust spend 10 min a session doing takedowns and start out spars standing....sorry but if you are doing so bad against another person with takedowns then you have no one to blame but yourself and you should find another gym
ОтветитьWhy does everyone always say Ju-jitsu when they mean BJJ. I practice traditional Japanese Ju-Jitsu as a form of self defence and all of these points are irreverent. We practice strikes, kicks, locks, throws, escapes, grappling and weapons....The difference being that our methods are a lot more lethal than what would be allowed in UFC/MMA
ОтветитьBJJ guys can seriously incorporate wrestling in their game. It pisses me off when they both agree to start on the ground. Who the hell does that in real life scenarios? Everybody starts on their feet. Honestly all you need to become a good fighter is wrestling with some boxing basics and a couple of BJJ submissions like the rear naked choke or the guillotine.
ОтветитьJiu-jitsu was never meant to be a sport. When you leg lock someone in a street fight; you’ll get you’re head bashed in.
ОтветитьAwesome, time to crosstrain in Catch 😂
ОтветитьAs a blue belt, I’ll say the biggest problem with BJJ is the inability to fight multiple opponents simultaneously
ОтветитьMaybe the Gracies shouldn't have thrown out the stand up portion of Jutjutsu.
ОтветитьMy coaches and professors at my bjj gym always work getting up as soon as you have the chance and they remind us to aswell. If you dont keep your apponent pinned he will stand up.
ОтветитьFunny to use the analogy of wrestling to keep standing/top position, passing guard to submit someone. That's as old school as it gets with Judo. But leg locks have been banned by a lot of bjj organisations for competition. Just too many injuries on a lock you can't feel come on.
ОтветитьDo what i do refuse bottom in rolls, unless you can work out a sub quickly, insist on the takedown and insist on the top position and pinning then submission.
ОтветитьThey should let practitioners strike, bite, pluck eyes out, squeeze balls if needed, let this sport be the greatest
ОтветитьI’ve heard John’s rashguard is actually a natural biofilm for defence.
ОтветитьJohn Danaher doesn’t wear Rashguards, Rashguards wear John Danaher
ОтветитьJohn tried to have sex with a lady one time. He began the courtship by attempting a leglock and she screamed and fled the room. He's been celibate ever since.
ОтветитьI love how Joe Rogan simply listened!
ОтветитьJohn Danaher's entire life is regret for getting into a useless martial art like jiu jitsu.
Ответить
