Waste of electricity, probably chews 80 watts or more on idle. Get an Android TV box, uses 5 Watts. That's if you only want to watch movies

Got what looks like the same machine I've had kicking around for various reasons. Installed win10 on SSD and installed Kodi. Some add ONS need more setup than others is it the exact same experience on using the Kodi Linux you use here, is it easier, etc. Figured might as well install windows since this machine can still handle it, but wanted a Roku type experience while being able to use windows when needed

Why not just install Kodi OS in Windows (you can).. and then have the benefit of using the PC for other things too, such as a game emulator for example. Seems like using some other OS just for Kodi is really limiting what the old PC could still do for running simple apps. Lastly, I've been using Plex for years and although it is mainly for your own media library and not a lot of different TV channels, I also think I don't need a bunch of crap internet based TV channels anyway.

Thanks for the info! I wanted OSMC but found out my device wasn't compatible. Also, for those of you that want to wipe the hard drive instead of running it from USB, just don't press "F12" during startup. You'll then have the option to install it on internal storage rather than USB. I recommend seeing if you like it on USB first though and then if you're dedicated, wipe the hard drive and install it.

I want to make an transformers like PC. At first you think it's an old slow piece of Doo Doo...then with a mash of a key or button it transforms into a sick PC that has all the goodies and flash. Kinda like a cross between a PC you would find in A Fallout game and a PC Blood Dragon Edition LoL

I have done this and works fantastic when i buy used pc's off ebay and can test them units out within 10 min of getting them in the door, then run the system 24/7 for 2 weeks to access if the pc passes my testing.

Why not just side load a android machine

I've tried multiple times to download the flashing software, but it just won't download. I even tried downloading the other versions for iOS and Linux and they wouldn't either. I have Rufus but I'm not sure it'll work. Was hoping someone would read this and comment prior to me finding out for myself.

I did something very similar with an old PC but with Ubuntu Server (20.04.2) and Plex as a Snap application. So far I have been very happy with that combo. Plex should be kept up-to-date automatically since it is a Snap app, and I can SSH into the server and update it periodically.
