nice try, but Henley is different

Brad is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. He can go from honky to metal within the same riff. Wish I could play like that. He's very similar to John 5. They even both play a tele.

Listening to this cover of The Boys of Summer reminds me of how gifted Don Henley is as a vocalist and musician.

I'm a big fan of Don Henley and Brad Paisley, but Brad shouldn't have done this. The song doesn't warrant the swing he put into it, destroys the nostalgia and feeling in it. Shame really!

Just can’t get behind this cover. Well done technically but musically and vocally just does not capture the essence and yearning behind the words of the original. Don’t believe me? Go listen to the original right now. I’ve come to the conclusion there are just some songs that shouldn’t be touched and this is one of them.

Edit: To further show you want I mean. Check out Don Henlys 2015 live version on Howard Stern. Sure his voice isn’t as good due to age but that version perfectly captures the soul of the song vs Paisley’s version here that sounds like they are just going through the motions without the emotion the song deserves.

I am such a huge fan... but, you kind of lost me at that whole 1-5 bass line. It took on a Nashville Pop sort of feel.

God nooooo, you simply can’t ‘countrify’ this song. Can’t replace the synths, plus his vocals are weak compared to the original.

Sorry but Brad Paisley does not do this song any justice. This is a beautiful song originally recorded by Don Henley and should just stay that way. Country music artists should stick to country music and only country music! The song is too much of a classic to be redone by anybody but the original artist...💝

If I go a concert and they start playing this I am going to lose it.
