North Carolina and the surrounding area is infested with Copperhead Snakes. So if you have children, pets or work in the yard, think hard about moving to this area

I agree Fayetteville sucks, you should ad Durham and Rocky Mount to the list. Both have high crime rates. When you turn on the news, just about every day, someone or somebodies got shot in these two cities. Dead bodies found in cars etc.

I’m from NY Lomg Island moved to Raleigh in 1995. Had enough of NY worked in the WTC when the first bomb went off in 1992 wasn’t going to wait for the next attempt. My co-workers said move to Cary. I lived off Creedmore TD near the Crabtree Valley Mall. When I went to Cary it reminded me too much of LI which I wanted to get away from. So I left Raleigh and Cary The Concentrated Area Of Relocated Yankees and now am in Charlotte. Have had family and friends follow me down over the last 28 years with no one going back to LI, NY or NJ. NC has changed if you moved to LI in 1955 and we’re still there in 1983 you would have seen immense change now from 1995 to 2023 Charlotte is very similar. However NC is home now. My niece and her fiancé are coming here next month from NJ. Yet more folks from the NE who want to have a better life!

The worst part about living in NC currently is the Legislature, which is full of old men who are ignorant as to how things work and therefore pass laws against them (examples - transgender people, LGBTQ in general, the fact that having all people participate in our democracy by voting is a GOOD thing, not knowing that private school vouchers are just state-sponsored segregation, that wealthier taxpayers should pay a higher percentage of their income in INCOME taxes to counterbalance the fact that working class people pay such a higher percentage of THEIR income in SALES, GASOLINE and PROPERTY taxes, and finally, that after one year of Rowe vs. Wade repeal, the number of abortions that have taken place in this country has basically stayed flat, but women have died because their draconian laws only make the process less safe). NC had a total of TWO transgender girl high school athletes this year statewide who wanted to participate in girl's sports, so they had to pass a law against it. If you are smart enough to see the foolishness of these actions, please move here and help vote out these gerrymandered "representatives" who do not represent the will of the majority of citizens in NC at all.

I am a local with an axe to grind. We have been nice and welcoming for 20 some years but now all my neighbors are from somewhere else, people move out to middle of nowhere and call the cops and social services for kids playing outside, riding 4wheelers and target shooting. Things that for generations were community get togethers are now verbotten to the new uppidity retiree class of white liberals that flee the areas they helped to destroy and are hostile to their neighbors that have generationally lived here since before the US was even a country while simultaneously pricing locals out of their own communities.

Yea, ill be in that "10%". Yankee go home.

Looking to relocate from MA. Thanks for info about be Worker in NC, 20 years ago come to USA and right a way i noticed huge difference in treating a workers, in Europe that is way of life in USA that is benefit to treat you like human being, I wasn't surprised but was hopping South should be better and on other hand when you see that slavery come from South I may be to naive to expect anything else just this time you can drink a water and change your owner freely 🙂. Anyhow thanks you are first to mention that.

It is beautiful and the food is good.

Just be warned that this is the Bible Belt. If you aren't Christian it's going to feel oppressive. If you are Christian it may still feel oppressive. Religious people in the rest of the country tend to be a little more laid back about it. It's all up in your face here.

I was raised agnostic in NC and it hasn't been easy. In small rural towns the first thing people will ask after saying hello is "what church do you belong to?"

Even being from NC that is still weird to me. Like..."I go to the church of M.Y.O.B."

Also, it does generally suck to be an employee here. No protections at all. I've been pretty lucky though.

Plus, we have giant flying roaches here. They will fly at you. Not joking.

Been in NC my whole life. I live in Albemarle which is about 40 miles east of Charlotte.
NC is a great state!!! We check all the boxes for outdoor activities and all for big cities too. Amazing university system, professional sports, and low cost of living. My town is about 20K and growing due to overflow from Charlotte. It’s only 30 min to the city but we have a small town feel. We are a purple state politically.
Our mountains are beautiful as are the beaches, especially the outer banks!! Cost of living is low. For example, my home is in a nice neighborhood, 2250sq feet 4 bed 3 bath 2 car garage and my mortgage is 860 per month. Let that sink in.
Again NC has it all and we are growing!! I would encourage everyone to take a serious look if considering moving. Love to have ya!!🙂

We a pretty much right on line. We moved to NC in 1999, and moving from Jersey to the Raleigh area was great. Companies like IBM that moved workers to NC, make out big. But when I lived in Jersey and when employees move to get relocated to Jersey (like from Florida to Jersey) comes out on the losing. If I would move to California, not that I want to, it would be more expensive than living in NC.

I live in NC. We do pay sales and gas tax. But we do love it here. Unfortunately, the road infrastructure has not kept up with the pace of those moving in. But you can find all kinds of good country roads to navigate instead of the main routes. We live in the Piedmont. Traveling to the mountains for spring break and the beach for summer vaca. Truly the best of both worlds.

Went to a funny story while walking up to the point of meeting the lady I found twenty bucks and a man's ID and some booze.

Sooo my job brought me here and I watched all ur vids about NC ..I moved to a Raleigh, NC suburb from Miami, FL during the HYPE of the market and planning on going back to FL as fast I can. Raleigh is a super dirty city, garbage everywhere, it's not a business friendly state due many barriers to entry, businesses are failing as fast as they were sprung up, houses are poorly built here and have poor insulation ( building houses with wood is idiotic if you get tornados and hurricanes), paying “property taxes” for your car is REDICULOUS for a state with terrible infrastructure and did I mention THE GARBAGE all over the highways gives me The Fith Element vibes, and AGREE the people here are extremely nice but there is also extremely violent ppl in NC. The crime rate is HIGHER in NC by state and city when compared against Miami and FL. It's a shame b/c there is a lot of natural beauty here but it's just hills, really. NC turned out to be over rated for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had no idea worker's get treated poorly. I'm 65 working PT in construction. I broke my ankle while packing last fall to avoid winter in my Travel trailer. The State payed 100% of my medical bills including surgery as I wasn't on Medicare yet. They also paid my food expenses 300-400 per month. They are paying for my moving expenses 1st, last, and security deposits. And old utilities. In total The RAFT program allows up to 10,000 dollars for families in transition. Due to a variety of circumstances. I'm grateful but still moving South. I spent 20 years taking care of rich people with several homes on Cape Cod and Nantucket. I'm moving out .
Rent is not obtainable anymore.

Keep in mind that NC started leaning to purple state / or turning blue in Ashville areas..... however new transplants are rudely awakened that this IS NOT a liberal blue area. Big tech will leave if NC continues to support republican candidates and Ideals. I've know many middle road democrats move to Ashville, they lasted less than 1yr. SAME for the Californians moving to Texas. These places do not support freedom, exact opposite.

Not a good state for employees? Then why are so many people moving to NC? Why is it good for tech jobs and healthcare? Face it, time to ditch the Oxfam employee metric. The problem with lists like that is someone has to be first and someone last, but such relative rankings don’t mean much. If you’re going to make employment a metric, include real facts not someone else’s list.
