One year later: l used your technique in pinks and greens. It was a painless process and came out beautifully! What a joy! You are and superlative teacher. Many thanks.
ОтветитьThis is so beautiful!! You make it look easier than it turns out - I like that!!
ОтветитьI've often wondered if this would work, but wasn't brave enough to try it. The thought of wasting time and fabric on a failed experiment put me off. You've proved it works very well. 👌 Thanks for sharing 👏👏 🥰
ОтветитьI so much enjoy your quilting process and all the wonderful tips you give in your videos. thank you so much for sharing. I am setting up my sewing room and then I will get the nerve to try this technique LOL. I want to learn the quilting process, still nervous to try but I'm going to take the first step and try it.
ОтветитьI love the butterfly backing. Thank you so much for sharing.
ОтветитьThank you for demonstrating this quilting method. I really love your fabric choices. The fabric patterns are different from what I have in the United States. I have a quilt top I made several years ago, that still needs to be quilted. But I cut the squares again for another fabric strip down the middle. Take care, Marion in Oregon, U.S.A.
ОтветитьHow many fat q did you use
ОтветитьWe lived in our RV 24/7 for 14 years and traveled the continental United States and Canada. Along the way I filled every single storage space available with fabric…including the space usually occupied by a generator (we had solar power). Talk about a shopping trip!
ОтветитьTHIS IS A BEAUTIFUL QUILT AND YOU ARE A LOVELY LADY .
ОтветитьOoh lovely scraps happening for another fun project..luv the quilt..🇨🇦
ОтветитьBeen thinking about another way to join the rows….make the first row just the top layer, and then assemble all 3 layers, with backing as well, as a quilted row. First row is like an unbound table runner.
Assemble the next row of top layer blocks, top layer only, and cut batting and backing the same size needed to form the next row, but now the fun part….
Put your pieced top and batting right side face down onto the top of the first row, align these, and then pin with the backing fabric right side facing up, to the back side of the first row, and stitch the seam. 🤔The layers will be: batting, new row top pieced layer, right side down, previous assembled row topside up and already quilted, then backing, right side up, wrong side to the table.
Then flip the pieces for the second row away from the seam. Your seam will be enclosed, no need for strips. Smooth down the layers, part the seam fully, perhaps trim the batting inside a bit to remove bulk (suggest only a thin batting for this) and organise so it’s smooth, press, pin and quilt it. You can also quilt over the area of the seam you’ve just worked.
This method does mean your backing goes on in strips as wide as the rows, but the quilting should disguise the fact. You only ever have the width of one row under your machine, but it will grow as wide as your quilt, to the left of the machine, so you need space for that.
Hope that’s interesting to you. Another use for stitch and flip technique
Seeing you press onto the batting, I’d say be careful not to have your iron too hot and melt your batting if it’s synthetic!
ОтветитьI suppose that the density of quilting may affect the length of each block when it’s time to join. I must say your quilting is lovely!
ОтветитьI wished u show Hou u put backing on, BEAUTIFUL Quilt❤
ОтветитьI love quilt as you go, and I have not seen the way you have done it which I think I will try next
ОтветитьI love your descriptions. Makes it very easy to follow. I am in Shreveport Louisiana USA
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьBeautiful!
ОтветитьI wish you showed how the backing went on. Love this idea.
ОтветитьWow, beautiful. How many fat quarters are needed for a lap quilt?
ОтветитьBeautiful quilt! Disappointing that in the final step you end up with adding the backing and having to deal with quilting the entire quilt -not something that I could manage.
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, thank you. 😢You make it look very easy. Will have to give it a try!
ОтветитьAwww....thank you!!
ОтветитьI can't follow you it's to fast as a beginner I need teaching slower, beautiful quilt
ОтветитьIt's beautiful
ОтветитьI love this quilt and will definitely be trying this qayg method. Karen, the more that I watch your channel, the more that I love it. Welcome to Australia, and I hope that you are loving it here.
ОтветитьLove the quilt. On my to do list. I am a reasonably new quilter but I was just wondering about you comment about what side the batting should face to the top. I have researched it a bit and I am to believe that if you do not face it the right way up it may pill and fluffy bits may come through the quilt top. Not sure if it is correct but would like to hear your take on this. Thanks Desley
ОтветитьJust Beautiful!
ОтветитьYour quilt is awesome. Looks easy. Never thought of quilting as you go. Might have to try this. I usually send them out. Thank you!
ОтветитьYou are such a beautiful woman. You seem to be just as beautiful on the inside.
ОтветитьThis quilt pattern is like one my mother made. All baskets and flowers were different color combinations. I really admire your talent.
ОтветитьThis turned out so cool!! I love the concept of quilting as you go. ❤
ОтветитьBeautiful quilt. Nice job
ОтветитьThanks for such a great video. I LOVE that you quilt in your RV! I lived in an RV for over a year and actually put all my supplies in storage. And it made for a more stressful life as I use quilting as a means to relax. Subscribed and will be following you! Have a blessed day!
ОтветитьI'm a beginner but I am going to try to make this, at least the top; not sure I understand the quilt as you go part but will continue to review; beautiful work!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьCute idea. We all have our little OCD’s mine is fabric must be ironed first!! Thanks
ОтветитьThank you, that was a very quick, easy way to do QAYG. I only made one before, but excited to give this method a go. Cheers from Lisa - Sydney Australia
ОтветитьI absolutely love your personality, creativity, and cleverness; l keep returning to my subscription and watching certain of your “best” tutorials over and over. I feel like l’m creating with a dear friend. You are a beautiful girl (yes, you are!)—Thank you!
Ответить👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьThis is great, I just 3 years into quitting and am learning . You’ve given me one more tool to use. Thank you
ОтветитьHi I've just found you - interesting QAG. But not sufficient video of how you put together- perhaps I’ll look again. I love that little strips are not needed. So do you just do row by row and then add rows together. I would really like to see you sew the backing on and how you get it all in the small throat space. Perhaps less chatting and more showing how to visual. I trust you do not mind my comment but showing is vital. 🌻
ОтветитьI watched it again and I still love it.😊
ОтветитьI love this.
ОтветитьI love this quilt. It is very pretty. Idea for me.
ОтветитьHi! I've tried nearly every method of quilt-as-you-go that I can think of, but never have I tried this. WOW! I especially love how you quilt each row and THEN add it to the previous row, genius! I'm getting ready to put my 16" blocks together and this time I will try this method...many, many thanks in advance for the great tips and for sharing this method of quilting on a home machine.
ОтветитьEnjoyed your video tutorial. I will be trying your technique! Gracias from Dallas, TX 😊
ОтветитьLove this pattern!! Would it work using a layer cake and 2.5 inch strips?
ОтветитьHi all, I am a newbie at quilting. I am by no means a seamstress. I like dappling in things. I recently started attending a quilting group of church ladies. The quilts they have complemented blew my mind. Now I am ready to try quilting. I love the idea of “row quilting “. I see that you did the “quilting-embossing“ before joining the rows. Is there a special pressure foot ? As I stated I am very new.
