How to properly pack and ship a PC!

Just used an Instapak to pack my PC for a move and a horrible smell is emitting and little droplets of liquid are on my glass side panel now. Should I be worried? Any suggestions on how to clean my glass panel?

This is so ridiculous satisfying to watch, that i want to buy some of these on my own to do it just for fun. :D

is this good for international shipping too?

I'm moving overseas soon and the moving company that's coming does not allow the client to aid in packing at all physically. I have to ship my PC, which I spent a lot of time and money on on a boat. I'm really hoping the movers are as diligent as you were.

Thank you Jay for doing these tutorial I have a question about using the foam on a build that I am doing using the Fractal Design Ridge mini computer for my nephew. He lives in Georgia and I live in Hawaii. Obviously, this computer will be flown and ship to him. There isn't al ot of room inside the tower, so do I need to use the foam to ship the tower, it would be fine to ship it in the original case and a secondary case? He isn't very computer knowledgable beyond playing games on it. In case you need to know what the specs are.

Just last week I shipped my friend a build I did for him via UPS - if it weren't for instapaking the inside and double boxing it would have been toast. Showed up crushed, with a piece of the outer box torn through and hanging down, and from the looks of it they had opened one side and then shoddily retaped it.

your shipping materials alone (four instapack bags, extra bag, bubblewrap, ect) cost well over $70 per PC.... simply not viable on a large scale....

Its a shame this is basically an ad for one packing product. What if that product isnt available or an option? C'mon.

Without removing any parts I just throw my mATX tower into a big suitcase with a sheet of antistatic around it padded with my clothes, then my monitor on top, more clothes and g2g. I've done this 3 times already for traveling on a plane.

but where do you get case size boxes for when you want to sell a desktop you built years ago?

I used to work for the unload team at a FedEx Annex and I enjoyed my time there but I will say that over time we wanna unload faster and faster so we don’t have to stay late. That leads to careless movements for the boxes which can lead to damage and maybe even having to give them to QA.

Went to my local UPS store and have everything packed and just needed an outter box. They told me I would need to remove everything inside cuz they want to pack it themselves. I'm like wtf u talking about? I just need a bigger box.

Working at a Warehouse that receives data center stuff like Racks, Servers 65lbs boxes, Laptops, etc. One thing I saw was the quality of the Box matters. Freakin FedEx belts can’t break them server boxes. Dense and Heavy boxes. 65lbs suckers. Some even shipped in pelican cases haha

Side note, during Lay off season we get boxes of laptops from former employees that have literally no packing material and it's just an oversized box with a laptop inside, best part is the box is usually smashed in and you can hear bits of the laptop moving around inside..

What is the best carrier to ship a desktop tower? I have my original box and am planning to pack it together myself.

What this video taught me is the tower my brother just shipped to his friend is going to arrive looking like the truck delivering it was hit by a train.

YSK that the major shipping companies don't actually cover the cost of items over ~$1,000 - even with insurance. I found this out when I had to take out a separate insurance policy to ship a guitar that was roughly the cost of a nice PC like this. If you want it insured correctly you'll likely pay need to pay $100-150 through a separate company.

Another you tuber held his hands where the glass would have been. This keeps it from over expanding.

A question: Do I still need to fill out the empty void inside the tower if I actually remove the GPU and ship it out separately in a separate box?

I’m currently living in a different country for work. But I have ordered a pc to my home address in the uk as it don’t ship to this country. As far as taking it on the plane, it’s too big to go in the cabin.

I’m keeping all delivery packaging, but would I need to take out the gpu, cpu and hard drive and put them in a anti static bag to fly with?

I’m not a pc genius, never owned a proper on before and wanted to switch. I just don’t want to fly and fry an components or damage anything. If anyone that knows please get back to me.

Does Instapak cause static builpup/ESD problems inside the PC?

I save and use grocery bags for packing, cat litter, trash bags, just lots of stuff lol. Those and my amazon boxes usually keep me set up.

Question do you re paste the cpu afterwards i feel my cpu always needs new thermo paste as temps seems to always jump up after a move
