Kiss the Upper Keys Goodbye and motor into the Middle Keys with Dropoff Diver Don Ferguson! Feed the Tarpon at ROBBIE'S MARINA, launch at CALOOSA COVE MARINA and skip out to TOLLGATE ROCKS, MATECUMBE GARDENS, TENNESSEE REEF and TENNESSEE LIGHT TOWER.
The first stop is Robbie's Marina on the upper tip of Lower Matecumbe Key to feed and swim with the hundreds of Tarpon that hang out under the dock, some of which are over 5 feet long! Next, head down to the other end of the island and launch at the upscale Caloosa Cove Resort and Marina. Hook up with Doug Bontrager and Leah Bamfield and bolt out to the first divesite, Tollgate Rocks (a.k.a. Caloosa Rocks). Situated one mile seaward of the Caloosa Cove Boatbarn, enjoy the beauty of this Channel Patch Reef and check out a huge, friendly Southern Stingray enjoying a night time snack!
Then, jam seaward to the "Matecumbe 18" Marker and the nearby Matecumbe Gardens for fore-reef diving with flatter definition, unlike some of the towering spur and groove reef formations of the Upper Keys. Meet some of the interesting reef inhabitants living among beautiful soft corals of every description! The next target, Tennessee Reef, is a vast, diverse formation. One of the largest reefs in the Keys, Tennessee Reef is Wildcat Diving at its best with acres and acres of seldom dived sites! Dive the Tennessee Dropoff, a deep water delight in 60 to 90 feet of water. Later, dive the Tennessee Light Tower and the lovely Tennessee Shoal while learning the names of many interesting fish and corals! Learn a few interesting facts about Sharks and the names of a few ships that crashed aground here through the years!

The Dive Odyssey Continues.......Tomorrow on Duck Key! Key West is less than 70 miles away!
