Can you tell me if you use any product in your hair first, and also about how long do you leave the hair wrapped around the wand before releasing it? My hair usually doesn't stay curled with a curling iron but I'm hoping I can get this to work. :)

It took me 2 hours to do my hair with a curling wand 😩I think my sections were too small, because I ended up getting really tight curls, it almost looks crimped rather than curled. My wand is also one that gets narrower at the top. Please give me some advice on how to get curls like yours?
