Why I Replay Video Games

I'm replaying classics like Uncharted franchise, Tomb Raider franchise, The last of us at least once a year. These games are like movies.

People who don't replay videogames have a more streamlined view of judging the videogame in question.

So, for example, if someone plays DMC5 and doesn't replay it at all, this person pretty much missed on most of the features of DMC5. This person missed on the mastery of the combat mechanics on higher difficulties, etc.

If you don't replay souls game, chances are, you missed secret areas, undiscovered items, bosses, etc.

It's not only that they miss content, they also miss on their own mastery of a game's mechanics.

I love replaying a game because i know what to do and i know ill enjoy it

I feel like life is too short to experience the same shit again so i would rather watch something new or play something new there is only few series and few games i replayed ofcourse back in PS2 days i completed many games like 50 times cause i couldn't afford PS3 or PS4 and didn't have alot of choices didn't had a mobile phone either so ofcourse i replayed alot but after PS4 era and after i can afford games i realised life is too short to experience the same shit again

I love replaying games also, I’ve played deus ex human revolution many times on ps3 and now on my second run of SMT 3. I also remember the days of being a kid and replaying the same game over and over til I can get a new one.

Every year, like clockwork I sit down and play Bioshock Infinite. One of my favorites games.

I replay more than playing new ones honestly

KOTOR is one i replay alot. I replay my favs again and again like rewatching TV shows and movies.

Wait. I thought that it was normal to replay games. I guess it depends on the time period between playthrough’s. I wait for a couple of years and I can replay the game like it’s new.

Just came across your channel from searching for Tomb Raider reviews and not only did that video smack, but this one did too! You have an eloquent and well-paced script with each video I’ve seen so far and you do a great job at getting at your points. I agree with the comfiness that comes with revisiting games. I feel another huge reason is that sometimes the pacing and level design of certain games just really click in a way that forever plays out in your head. Half-Life 2, The Last of Us, Souls and Dead Space are a couple examples I can think of where everything just flows so perfectly it’s easy to get lost in the rapids they put you through. I agree with replaying games. For me there's a few groups of games: new/modern games I haven't played, games I have played & want to replay one day, and older games from past consoles that are new to me because I never played them. Each category is fun to visit for different reasons.

New games are usually packed with plenty of content to keep you immersed for months and months.

Replay games are like your favorite comfort foods or movies. There's something deeply satisfying about revisiting familiar worlds that were once part of your life at a different time.

Finally there's older games from past consoles. Maybe you grew up with Sega Genesis or PS2 and always heard about insert game here but never played it. All these years later you're able to go back and discover all these games you never had a chance to play when younger. It can be just as fun as putting in a brand new modern game. It really depends on the person, what systems they grew up with and their nostalgia.

To me there's nothing wrong with any video game that makes you happy. If you want to replay Horizon Zero Dawn or Super Mario World a thousand times, what harm is there if it makes you happy? Game on my friends! ✌

It's weird to think about it because this is something I've never questioned myself as well. I love replaying games since I was a kid, even tho back then I had access to a big library because of how common piracy has always been in my country. It was so fun to replay those amazing over the top moments, I remember back in 2012 I must have replayed the same chapters in uncharted 3 twenty plus times. Nowadays I still replay some games religiously, like the God of War games, the Batman franchise, Shadow of the Colossus, and I think this is because these games meant a lot to me growing up and they are experiences you simply can't get anywhere else, and this to me is the biggest reason. It doesn't matter how much I search, nothing will be like these games, which is itself proof of how good and unique some titles can be, and they just don't get boring no matter how many times I replay them

I’m trying to figure out why I wanna replay a long rpg I beat a few weeks ago when I can barely play and finish dozens of games I’ve bought years ago. Does it even matter? I don’t know but it’s fun to think about

I love replaying some of my favorite games. I view them like movies, just because I’ve seen Star Wars doesn’t mean I can’t watch it multiple times. Some of my favorite games I replay every year or every few years, Alan Wake for example. Every October, I quit working on my backlog and replay horror games. For me, the shorter single player are more replayabe.

it honestly boggles my mind how people do NOT replay games... imo i agreed with everything you stated and explained. if a game hits the nail on the head for everything that you enjoy about a game then by all means you SHOULD replay it. it’s such a waste to just play it once and then never ever touch it again. it is beyond me why people frown upon replaying video games.

I was shocked when i saw you only had 370 subs. The quality of video and audio is top notch bro and it seems like you enjoy what you're making. I thought for sure you had around 200k. I'm 33, been playing games since I was a kid and I always replay games. I've beat each uncharted game like 15 times, I've 100% the witcher 3 3 times and countless others and each time I replay them I find something I missed or I'm reminded why I fell in love with the game in the first place. I'm much more of a single player gamer than I am a multiplayer gamer and for me when I find a movie, song or game I like, I listen, watch, or play them repeatedly.

Replaying video games is good way of looking at the games again to see if it still holds up, see if they're as good as you remember them, and have a bit more fun that you might not have had in a while. It's also a good thing to do during quarantine. Recently, I've replayed Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario 3D World, Sonic Colors, Super Mario Odyssey, and Sonic Mania.

I’ve played MGS3 and Kid Icarus Uprising probably 5-6 times each, both have a super entertaining gameplay loop that is hard to get tired of.

As a kid I used to replay games much more since I had more free time and less choices in games. Nowadays I usually do it with only my favorites.
