My dad was working in Silver Spring at the time and his company implemented a policy that no one could leave for lunch. Lunch was provided for all employees. I was less than a month away from turning 10 and every day I was scared that my dad wouldn't come home.

I was in Kindergarten in Rockville, MD and lived in Takoma Park, MD when this was going on. I remember the windows at school being covered with boards and indoor recess. My mother told me she was terrified, and carried a white card in her wallet saying my name, where I was, and who to contact (if something happened to her) throughout the whole time. Rest in peace to the victims, best wishes to the survivors and to their families, and to the shooter's family members. ❤

Not that I am making excuses for John and what he had done but I think something happened to him psychologically while he was in the Army to set him off like that and did such a horrific act.

As a European citizen living in the States, this was a deeply traumatizing experience. Even more than September 11th and the anthrax story, which I also witnessed during my stay in the DC area. The most shocking issue for me was thinking of being killed for no reason, a feeling I had never had before and later in my life. With all their dreams, plans, and expectations, all the victims were randomly killed while living peacefully…

Back in 2002 I had moved from metro DC only a few years back. I used to live not far from Aspen Hill and often went grocery shopping there.

I remember this, my mom wouldn't let me out of her sight. I think any one of us in Virginia off I95 North was looking over our shoulders. I remember going to the mall and then the next day a woman was shot. God bless all the ppl that lost their loved one.

These animals put all of us in fear back then. I lived in Olney back then which was near aspen hill. Always looking for a white van which is what the news said the sniper was in....

They purchased the vehicle from a buy here-pay here car lot in Trenton, NJ. 5mins from my house.

In qurran it says. If you kill 1 man you killed humanity 💔. In Islam you are not allowed to kill women, children. He knows that. He used Islam as a excuse. to kill all these people. Shame, shame 😞. He is nothing in my eyes. I am ashamed to look at him. What he did is not right. He was trying to kill his ex wife. So he can go back.and get his children. Under the disguise. of a grieving ex husband.

I couldn't believe this was broadcasts on A&E. I think about this all the time. I may not have been a victim, but I still think about it. I was with three of my children, at the gas station in Manassas, getting gas. Teaching my children beforehand to duck, after the Home Depot shooting. On the news, they had taught us what to do, just in case. Thank God, I listened. My children's bus stop was 30 feet from our front door. When I would hear the school bus coming, I would get the children to run and duck. They did so. They would get on the bus and duck in their seats. Still not knowing why myself, the other parents, and bus driver, would have them do so. I know for a fact that the shooters were at that gas station in Manassas, Virginia. Watching it. As I put gasoline in my vehicle, I was ducking (as I had told my children to do). Entering my vehicle and ducking myself. When the pump stopped, I ran out of my car and ran right back in. Pulling away quickly. Thank goodness I listened to the news. That's what they taught us to do. We got home safely. Later that evening, I was watching the News. They were reporting the shooting of that gas station and, of course, the time-line. The M.O. on both these shooters was to sit in the trunk of their vehicle, and watch for the perfect time to shoot. All I could think is, my children were there, and they (the shooters) watched me put gas in my car. I have never spoken of this (in public), but now it feels like a weight has been lifted. I'll never forget how I felt watching the news that night, the shooting took place 15 minutes after we got gas.

And the coward never called!!! What a POS!

He instigated the divorce after arriving home early and finding her in bed with another soldier.

He was discharged due to psyche issues caused by the betrayal. She then slammed him with the lifetime restraining order, which severely limited his access to his kids.

The veterans programme refused access to counselling and psyche services.

He was turned into what he was by the State... and was then murdered by The State. Miss 'butter wouldn't melt' was also at least partially responsible.

Nobody wants to talk about the reason why this all happened in the first place. All he wanted was a Relationship with his Children, but because of Allegations, that was taken away from him. Courts are Biased against Fathers.

The person who tracked her down is just as guilty of the killings he carried out.

I lived in Maryland when this happened, and everyone was on edge. The setup that the sniper had kept him hidden, and no one knew where the shots were coming from. My thoughts and prayers still go out to all the people who were affected by this tragedy. 🙏
