(my opinion) i think that the best MAIN battle tank is the leopard 2 a 7+

There’s one revelation I’ve had about the Abrams recently from listening to a lot of commentary on tank designs which is that heavy tanks have always been super sexy and yet they almost seemed like they never really were the best case scenario for a tank but what’s interesting about the Abrams is that even tho it’s classified as an MBT it’s heavier than most heavy tanks were in WWII so what the US did whether on purpose or inadvertently created the perfect heavy tank.
I’m not saying it’s the best tank.
I’m saying that it’s really a heavy tank that operates like an MBT and in many ways outclasses many MBTs.
I agree with what this video says but I think that if you compared the Abrams to any Russian MBT it is more or less better.
I do like modern Russian tanks.
I think the Russians lack the technology to keep them up to date.
Engineering in post Soviet Russia is a huge issue that’s plaguing them atm but I honestly think that they could possibly be better than the Abrams in some respects purely on a one to one basis ofc .
In a war against Russia where they have all their ducks in a row the sheer numbers of tanks they possess is such a formidable strength all on its own and that was Soviet doctrine in a nutshell.
Overwhelm them with numbers and if nothing else it certainly makes them a very hard to defeat country given their sheer numbers and just the size of the country so if they’ve achieved that and nothing else then those tanks are doing their job

Abrams is the best, its not even a debate.......I know it, you know it, even your grandma knows it, you really think countries like Russia and China actually give a shit about their Soldiers? if so then bless your heart. only counties that u can even compare American weapons to would be UK, Israel, and Germany. Theirs way too much corruption in China and Russia for their military to ever be a Real threat, and 90% of it has to do with Each respective President Syphoning Money out of their own military so they can spoil themselves with Mega yachts and Mansions. I feel like there's also some bias in discussions like this. None in the video, but people seem to think that russian tanks are always inherently bad. As a russian, it's pretty annoying to hear people say "oh but everything you make sucks" instead of having an actual discussion. I think it's a result of american patriotism, and to add on to that there seems to be an inherent disdain towards russian AFVs purely because of politics.

Edit: I think it happens with every nation, but I've noticed it to be especially prevalent with western countries.

Talking about doctrine, tank doctrine is all the same.

Allow me to explain: why did the land battleship concept fail?
While this doesn't seem to matter to this argument, it will soon become clear.

What is the different between a land battleship and a real one? You could say armament, size, speed, etc., but all of those are rather minute details since a land battleship serves the same role as a regular battleship in their respective environments.

The real difference is this: one's on land and one's on water. Once again, this might seem not to matter to doctrines or might seem a low-level assessment at best, but here's what I mean: All of the armament on the battleship is confined to a small area of space in the entire battlefield. Every single piece of weaponry is forced to sit in a small confined space on the comparatively tiny ship. In land combat, you don't have to worry about a PT boat sinking cause you thought it'd be funny if it had half a meter of armor and a 120 mm cannon. In land combat, you can choose where to place your guns for maximum effect.

With this lens, it becomes clear why the land battleship concept failed: instead of min-maxing and getting the most out of every gun, they placed all of them in one place. This makes it unsurvivable since if your land battleship is destroyed all your guns are useless (compared to having multiple vehicles), ineffective since having all of your cannons in one place reduces your efficiency for each cannon, and slow since having a big, massive, slow vehicle is innately disadvantaged to responding to unforeseen threats compared to a fast one.
The only real benefits are it's use for morale, it's synergy with light tanks, and it's adherence to the basic principle of the importance of life in combat: if humans cannot be made again but the vehicles can--if humans are innately more important than the tin cans they control, then you ought to build the tin can specifically with the human inside in mind. It ought to be very well armed and armored.

I'm sure these two doctrines can shape the next generation of tanks. While the Char B1 Bis or Char 2C hadn't the capabilities to spot and destroy enemy tanks with ease, modern technology could certainly make the land battleship a viable concept, especially if no level of 'big' is deemed too much to the generals of the future. Especially if a real 400 yard long 18,000 ton vehicles is made to crush not only enemy tanks, but enemy ecosystems.

i know there is no best tank in the world but if it still gets close, i would say the abrams m1a6 and leopard 2 a7 r2 is not the best but better than others. and the crew in amurica and germany is far by the best.

No, but Spookston, every tank is best in a particular situation. The T-72 for instance, was best where it can make use of it's low profile. The Chieftain Mk.10, was best on a ridgeline where it could snipe and keep its hull in cover. The Leopard was best where it could manouevre, for it was reasonably mobile.

I do say with some bias with m1 is the best tank in the world because it's a mobile command post. Because you'd never find 5 m1s v 5 challengers or v 5 t80s. You would find 5 m1s, 2 or 3 Bradley's an awacc with 4 f18s v the enemy equivalent assuming neither acs had the ability to target each other than a cannon. The m1 one wins but that is the point of American doctrine but a tank is meant to support infantry. But their is what the cheiftan said about the best tank and m1 just suits the American doctrine the best.

Good video but I hate when someone says that "better crew" is a argument that some tank is better than other tank etc. What matters is the design of the tank, because the discussion is only about that (design).

When talking about which car, tank, plane or ship is better I don't give a f about crew, doctrine or politics of that country...

Any nation can create a Tiger 2 of the future but how much will it cost ? If there were no nukes and we were at war I guarantee that a nation like Germany or USSR would create the tank stronger than the current MBTs in a few months. Germany only didn't win because it was everyone against her alone.
