What a shit plot. This isn't heart wrenching, it's pure stupid. Throwing away an entire marriage because you don't feel like talking ain't trendy or cool. What she went through is horrendous. But just talk, for fuck's sake.

In this movie the baby was not still born, it was born alive and died some minutes later.
The mother was stubborn she insisted on doing things her way and would not listen to advice. She practically admitted the baby died because of her negligence.
She ended up pushing her husband away and even cheated on him.

it's so difficult that a woman loses her baby but they need faith that this is meant for her...no one can change that.. you can't defy God for a small loss compared to the blessing you have.

As a medical professional I just want to add that yes we feel your loss and pain as deeply as you do...but we cannot shed tears along side..all we can do is keep taking best actions at time of crisis...a part of us dies with every patient we lose..atleast for most of us it does..trust me not every doctor is a money minting machine..

My heart and prayers go out to parents that lose their babies ❤ oh and the sex scene was 💯 I would have let him rip my pants off ! Lol HE IS SO HOT

I agree that this subject was needed to be portrait in a movie for sure,. But I don't agree that when tragedy like this happens it's not always the midwive's fault and anybody's fault for that matter. And I don't agree that couples end up destroying each other and swaring at each other like that. It's one outcome exposed but some heal way differently than what is portrait in this movie, some couples live it togehter in a loving healthy way.

Man, I wanted to like this movie more than I did. It was kind of boring and did not seem to have a message. Why did Martha promise Sean that she would not give their baby to science then completely go back on her word? Sean cheated on his wife with her cousin, accepted money from his mother-in-law, and left his wife, and that was it for his character? Martha planted apple trees and lived happily ever after with her new daughter? Seriously, what was the message of this movie? Why did they make a big deal about the trial if they were not going to show us the outcome? Eva definitely downplayed what was going on during the home birth, and Sean only said that they might have to go to the hospital. Martha never refused to go as Eva’s lawyer made it seem.

@thefuckyouwant555
@thefuckyouwant555 - 11.01.2023 02:57

The basic message of the film was "losing a child at birth is terrible, but it could have been worse... like [accidentally] getting pregnant, not having access to a safe and legal abortion, then being forced to take care of a child that you know you couldn't afford to raise". Obviously, the last parts weren't the point of the film, but it might as well have been...since people love to put twists on things that have nothing to do with other things, because dichotomies exist for a reason. Art is whatever you make art to be, not what others told you it should. Also, Shia being a reasonable adult in this film is just laughable considering he's anything but that in real life. He is hell on the set, and hell on the screen as well. But hey, least that's being consistent...right?

3/5

Just watched this film today and my heart broke. We're so used to see the pain of childloss from a mother's point of view. But this film depicted perfectly how it affects everyone not just the mother. Shia LaBeouf brought me to tears a number of times and I deeply sympathised with him. He was deeply emotional and vulnerable and raw and I loved that!

We just need to stop for a minute and talk about how fan f*cking tastic these two actors are. And together in these roles? . Just wow! Sometimes moments happen and I can be proud to be a millennial. Donald Glover, Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift, Evan Peters. Beyoncé (Shia and V Kirby) Yeah, you know, etc. Some of us aren’t half bad. Thank you and you’re welcome! Let’s go cure cancer and aids now. 😊

Impeccable performance from Ellen Burstyn. I think she is the opposite pole that supported the entire script with Kirby. She was an actual believable character from the beginning until the end.
