I disagree that its a bad teacher.

It is the perfect gamemode to learn the ropes without having to constantly find where the changing point is. New players aren't conditioned by CTF, rather CTF is where new players look the least derpy is because they can move at their own pace.

Ctf matches can last 30+ hours

Tbh as a main main who plays 2fort a can say I move a lot to the sewers or it’s to intense down there I move to the intel room but not for that long

Honestly, in my opinion, if the changes that could be implemented to Engineer, Heavy, and to every other class were to be implemented according to my vision, the problems that exist with Capture the Flag would be completely and utterly optional.
Also, what hasn't happened to Zack Snyder. Honestly, the guy should've stuck back to the little leagues and made his own films instead of getting entangled with the bigger properties.

ctf is the casual mode of casual mode, its not about playing the game as much

but if the whole team is defending their intel, that means the other team just has to keep touching it until they can run away with it. so it's more of a matter of who can get to the intel first, which is what CTF is

I play ctf so I can shoot people and see funny people do funny conga lines and ride bumper carts

Fun fact: when I first picked up TF2, when I went for my first online game, I deselected CTF. It's simply too generic.

My main criticism of CTF is that recovering the intel means you're retreating towards your base and your team, it means that capping gets easier the closer you get to your objective rather than the upward difficulty curve recommended by every bit of gamedev advice under the sun.

My solution was to have to carry the intel to a separate point inside the enemy's own base, which should shake up the lack of risk vs reward you seem to be focusing on.

CTF works in Quake, Unreal, and Nexuiz/Xonotic (No, that piece of shit on the 360 and PS3 is not Nexuiz and never will be) while they are team based modes, at their core those are Deathmatch games, Team Fortress isn't, it's really just a relic of the original mod

A thing I like to do is to set up a teleporter at enemy intel, and try to convince other engies to set up a nest there

I really only play CTF when I'm goofing around as a fat scout or something like that

Some of my best memories in TF2 are my team and the enemy team doing the most random shit together in CTF, not caring about the objective at all

I swear, it’s almost impossible to play as the sniper on the 2fort map while playing CTF since there will be so many snipers hogging the upper level floor on the either side of you get what I mean……

tbh i feel maps like banana ray which is double payload its the worst
