How do you get the crunchy cleans for the 91/92 era but for the in utero era the sound is completely different?

Kurt wasn’t using that amp so this is kind of pointless.

Through my headphones (a bit bass heavy due to closed ear, but not on the level of Beats), I think it's between TOM and Vandy. Both have a bit more treble which helps a good bit for when it gets dirty. I think VMA sounded a bit muddy and K is typical humbucker sound. I especially liked the crunchy cleans on the TOM though

I’ve really come to believe the amp lends more to your tone than pickups.

Like you said, on the clean tones - especially on the neck and middle settings yiu can hear a difference - and I prefer the Vandalism strat because it has better bass tones. (i promise i didnt look which one it was until after I had decided!). As soon as the DS-2 is on, you can barely hear the difference.

The K strats has a best sounding in my opinions! Maybe it's have an angled humbucker pickups. Sounding like more bite, more grunge!
