If you are lazy, put the salt in, mix through, cover with a cloth for 30 minutes, and it should be soft enough to jar up...

Since Brad failed to include the information as to what size jars 6 lbs of cabbage require it is (1/2 gal).. I would have never guessed by looking at the 2 heads of cabbage I purchased when processed would fit into a 1/2 gal jar but it does with room to spare in which I layered the outer leaves of the heads of cabbage over the top. I really didn't need a great amount of time and energy to reduce my sliced green cabbage into a desired size and ended up with a great deal of liquid before I transferred it into the jar.

15 seconds in you talk about packing it into a JAR, WTF size JAR BRAD? Being a novice I went out and spent $25 for 2 1-GAL JARS on Amazon to find out after I started to PACK the JAR BRAD that I only needed a HALF GALLON JAR BRAD, how about a little less humor and a little more specifics. Oh yeah, I started with 6 lbs of cabbage as did you.

Peppercorns
Cumin seeds
And for decoration
A few slices of carrots
As for the garlic, I eat lots of it raw and rub it on a hard crust bread but I'm not sure it is needed with the sauerkraut

A fun little mini game I like to play when I watch a Brad video, is guess the number of times Brad will be caught in a daze, staring off into the distance, and then I watch the video and see how close I got. I am usually wrong, and it turns out to be many more times.
