My cannas have never gotten that long but thank you for sharing what I must do to achieve it. Also when my cannas start growing really well in the summer I notice that the red color leaves them. I assumed it was because of birds sucking at them but is that really the case? I have a neighbor who has cannas & their red flowers stay up until the later fall without much color changes. We don't have a lot of foot traffic at our cannas like they do as well. I also cut my cannas down yesterday as it is fall and I did not want to have them get brown again when the temperature stays cold but was that ok to do so? I actually did not mess without them this past year the cannas where completely brown but the first day that I cut the dead ones down was the day after Easter this year and they eventually grew well again.
I actually live in Easley, SC so it is awesome to know that you have these growing in the same state. Peace Love.
thanks.

ОтветитьI'm also in 8b zone FL. Start planting canna last year. When I cut them back I put the cuttings in the ground to see if they would come up this year! Guess what? They are growing! Have not seen any flowers yet. I made sure they have notches on them n the steam was strong.
ОтветитьThis is awesome!! Thank you very much!
ОтветитьI am in zone 9 and my canna Lilly leaves always brown on the edges. Why is that? Also, what happens when the stalk is completely spent and dried up… do we cut it down to the ground?
ОтветитьDo you fertilize at all?
ОтветитьThanks so much. We just purchased one from Lowe’s are excited to see it bloom more. New growth of bigger leaves over the past two weeks are so great to see. You have a new follower 😃

ОтветитьNow this is how a plant/ flower video should be....no crappy music just great information. Thanks for showing how it should be done. 👍
ОтветитьWe have these in our front yard right in front of some windows and it’s pretty to look out and see then when they bloom, they just bloom for such a short time.
ОтветитьDo these need to be cut down in fall? Also, do these need to be pulled up? We live in Western Washington, and temperatures here go to freezing once or twice a year, no more.
ОтветитьHi. Ilive in Thailand and my canna leaves and stalks suffer from rust, ( orange / brown spots). What can I treat them with to remove the rust and is there anything I can use to prevent the rust from reinfecting the cannas? Thanks for great videos.

ОтветитьI have a canna that is 8 ft tall, what would be the best plants to surround them with?
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video 🤩
ОтветитьHi Paula. This year I planted a Canna in a container. It received a minimum of 8 hours of sun. It was also watered every day. I also fertilized it and twice amended the soil to make it more acidic. Unfortunately as soon as my flowers boomed the leaves started turning brown. Do you know what I may have done wrong?
ОтветитьOhh you are more beautiful than canna
ОтветитьThank you Farmer Paula

ОтветитьWhat variety of Canna are your red ones?
ОтветитьIn my second year playing with Canna. So glad I found your Canna tips last winter. Many tks! My divided/relocated batch (Cleopatra I think) survived and apparently like the sunny spot I moved them to in (late March) better than the full shade area they were originally found in. However Japanese Beetles REALLY went after the ones I moved into the sun. With a vengeance. I had to spray them. Interestingly, the canna that are 50 away, in full shade, have not been noticed by the beetles at all. THOUGH the plants in the shade have not bloomed yet. The ones out in the sun bloomed June 21st. I’m deadheading… so I’ll be curious to see what happens vertically! Cheers!
Ответитьgreat tips. So our cannas are 7 foot tall with many blooms. some branches fall over. Q. Can we cut them back to thicken and strengthen the plant? Thx all and happy 4th. Steve
ОтветитьWhat type cannas are they? Great video
