15 Years of Grand Theft Auto IV

Can't wait for Rockstar to release this as a remaster and charge people $50 for it

Loved everything about this game, the atmosphere, the city, the physics and the driving. But the best thing for me was Niko, honestly one of the best protags of any game ive played. Just such a sarcastic, witty, 3 dimensional character who you can empathize with. I genuinely think he's the only GTA protag that I'd like to go out for a beer with, or maybe go for a game of bowling.

I definitely went through a phase where i hated this game. GTA V came out and I thought it was a full improvement, but when it was no longer new and I came to realize how cheap gta 5 is in comparison I felt bad for hating on it so hard. Its not perfect by all means, the whole friend system can feel exhausting having to juggle hangouts with all these people in between missions, and the driving is definitely an acquired taste, not to mention the butchered pc version, but it still amazes me looking back more than 5 did. So gritty and harsh, more intricately detailed npc behaviour and physics, better radio stations, and much more likable characters. Roman may be needy, but I like him so much more than Michaels fucking family

I loved the driving if the car was decent, some even spinned like crazy when turning but, it was okey, the lack of activities was terrible and i hated the grey brown colours that made everything look like shit, and sucks because the city is INSANE realistic and detailed

My favorite thing to do in this game is go to where Bruce lives. There’s a lot of trashcans that are lit on fire, so what I do is push the trash can around and have it bump into cars and sometimes people. Endless fun.

When looking at GTA V, it does feel more like an action movie as fits because it is basically heist movies into one story. Liberty City was definitely the dark gritty setting they had in mind for IV, as Gta 3 was compared to it’s 3 contemporaries. If the next game is a Vice City one, it'll be much more like the near tropical feel of VC. Sunny and pretty but, surrounded by danger (not just gators lol)

I completed the story modes of each gta SA and gta 4 at least 20 times, on the other hand I don't think I completed the gta 5 story mode a 2nd time.

I do think that Rockstar Games should re-release GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City on iOS and Android and also on Nintendo Switch. And for Rockstar Games to focus on making GTA VI as well.

I wish this game was available for modern consoles. Rockstar planned to port this, but after the Trilogy ports underperformed, they cancelled their plans. Although with the criticism the Trilogy ports got, them doing GTA IV would've been the same, I guess

Still remember seeing the first official screenshots of GTA 4 and being blown away by how the game looked. It still outshines games coming out today in certain aspects.

GTA IV is what got me into gaming and I hold it dearly in my hearth.

I felt underwhelmed by it after the crazyness of San Andreas, but everything else was impressive at the time. I loved the small details of leaving a car and still being able to listen to the muffled radio from the inside, blowing up the tires after burning them out for a while, receiving damage while in the car, the GPS voice, the internet, etc. So many little things.
I replayed it recently and it has aged like fine wine. An achievement in gaming.

I loved the driving. I wish they would’ve transferred it to gta 5. Driving in gta 5 can be so mindless sometimes compared to 4’s

So I decided to play the campaign again and at the start of the game, the people around hove beach who would normally fight you or shoot at you have started to ignore me, like I pull a gun on them or begin to fight them and they don't react at all. Is that normal?

The radio music was also great. 😀

I remember mods with an iron man suit. Gta damage physics was so good back then

I'm playing it's story for the first time. Been at it since a couple days. Damn I regret not having completed the story 15 years ago. GTA 4 is an Awesome game and for me the best GTA, even if I have 400 hours in GTA Online. They are 2 completely different games! Everything is great in this game, even the clunky and frustrating controls xD!

This game broke my heart for GTA.

Having grown up with the previous 3 titles, I was AMPED for this one. But was left frustrated by the pace of gameplay. The realism took precedence over player control. Turning radius while walking felt strange and unpredictable. They imposed frustrating constraints on player movement in interior spaces. The ragdoll physics turned off your controls until the animation was done. Being ejected from cars...

All of the features looked amazing at the time, but they are nothing but frustrating when bullets start flying and you're under a time constraint.

I was never able to enjoy it.

I liked its dating aspect and activities you can do while hanging out with people. Conversations between Niko's friends and girlfriends let you discover Niko's past and viewpoints that makes Liberty city more alive.

I like the driving too. Coming from San Andreas I felt like the change made total sense and the driving felt right. This plays a major factor in making IV feel as realistic as it does. It not only felt more enjoyable overall, but it also made mastering the driving much more rewarding, because driving well mattered. Knowing and working the weight, balance, brakes and handbrake and doing the right things made a significant difference, and as the physics were more in tune with what you expect a real car can and can’t do, driving well on IV always was more instinctive to me than V. Games such as sleeping dogs, saints row and others open world games of the time always had, to me, the dealbreaker of not having those physics IV had, so seeing V going towards that more arcady approach those games took was a massive disappointment for me and I never got hooked by V as I was (and still am) to IV

Been playing this ever since I beat 5 just feels so much better than 5 it's my favorite of all of them so far I have high expectations for 6 but I don't think it will out weight my love for GTA 4

i was 3 when this came out but when i got ot for my xbox one i was blown away how this game was in 2008 cause how extremely detailed the world and the physics behind it is unbelievable but the shooting was a little wonky sometimes and felt off playing but this is easily my favorite gta that i ever played

I'm enjoying more on IV than V

I was 4 when this game came out but that didn’t stop me from experience this game where when I was about 7 my older brother would let me play the game behind my moms back hahah, and I fell in love with game and I got my own copy of when I was about 8, I felt like I could do anything and was Just a massive game and I’d watch loads of you tubers play the game, although I was young and didn’t really understand what was going on I’ve also played it recently and I love it for an entire different reason, the story, I may if used to play gta 4 online as a kid mostly but the story is masterpiece and it’s an even better game as a gotten older to understand the mature topics and what it means, thank you rockstar for this game it was a part of my childhood

Gta 4 ended up being my favorite game of all time.
