You have to understand that Nvidia made these cards for people in "poorer" countries to be able to buy, not everyone can afford the strongest cards on the market.

IDK, at today's prices, I'd still probably go 12 gb version due to price difference and 12 gb model having 10 - 15% faster, runs cooler & draws less power... all that adds up and well worth the 10 -15% price gap

Remembering that there are two variants of RTX 3060 8GB on the market. The RTX 3060 8GB with GA106 chip (the same chip as the 3060 12GB and 3050 V1), has 48 ROPs - Raster Operations Pipeline, while the RTX 3060 with GA104 chip (used in the 3060 Ti, 3070 and 3070 Ti) has 64 ROPs. There are 16 more ROPs of difference, which means greater rasterization performance. I've been building some computers these days and tested the RTX 3060 12GB (MSI Ventus X2), and an RTX 3060 8GB (Asus Dual White OC), and in fact the performance was similar. I would say that the 3060 8GB with GA104 actually performs like an RTX 2060 Super, without taking anything away. Perhaps Nvidia did this to compensate a little for this outdated performance when it covered the card's bus. I confirmed the specs through GPU-Z and on the TechPowerUp website. I ran some tests on some games with these 2 cards and the performance was similar. This explains the amount of hate this card received when it came out and the difference between it and the 12GB version. The models with GA104 chip confirmed so far are Asus Dual White OC and Gigabyte Gaming OC.

I went with a 3060 8gb simply because I don’t play AAA titles on PC. Never been a fan of playing the major titles on anything other than console. It just depends on what you play really. I would also add it depends on how long you plan on having the GPU.

Some people want their card to “last” them, or be “future proof”. If you’re a person that can afford it, or chases the latest and greatest…you will probably end up swapping the thing anyway in 1-2 years.

Did you check the clocks on the two cards? I wonder if they were different, probably not enough to influence the outcome of the test, but I'd still be interested to know. I've seen samples of the same model of card have almost 100Mhz difference in boost clock.

Never it’s way better to get 12gb any day , also bus on 12gb is bigger 3060 12gb is actually good card it might run but slower than 3070 and TI but with that 12gb ram u can play games like new resident evil with maximum textures at 10gb when many cards are maxed out at 8gb

The only way I'd get a 3060 8GB is to save money, considering the extra VRAM in the 12GB version is practically useless. The 3060 Ti (also an 8GB card) murders both of these cards in terms of performance but only costs slightly more. I'd rather pass both of these cards up for a 3060 Ti or better if I've got the money.

I ordered an 8gb 3060 I didn't realise it was 8gb. Now if I cancel that I'll get a 2% cut by the seller. This is misleading. I hope this one's good

A lot of people saying that 8gbs model sucks but, let's be honest 10 or 5 fps is not the determinant to you have fun in a game. Not defending this awful practice by Nvidia since they released a 3050ti with another name.

Very good! I love the music while the benchmark test results are shown.
Too many just rattle off EVERY SINGLE number.
That has to stop!

the performance is almost the same, for 5 to 10 frames depending on the game, I don't die, as of today I found the 8 gb of msi X2 ventus at €323 and the 12 gb is at €400, thanks to your video I decided on the 8 gb one, since there is no information or reviews on the internet about the 8 gb graph, thank you very much

Rtx 3060 12gb is the best way to go simply because more VRAM so it will last you a little bit longer
