What I love about the SCP universe is that unlike horror stories of the past that prayed upon folklore or unknown enthic archetypes it makes spooks out of phylosophical conceptions and scientific theories.

This SCP made me realize that The Great Filter is like a sci-fi Tower of Babylon.
Like the story is so mundane to us now since anyone brought up in or around Abrahamic faiths has heard it since they were little. But imagine you're at work one day, then suddenly the building is in pieces and you can't understand any of the people you were just talking to. Then this SCP turns it all up to 11.

The way everything breaks down, it just feels like reality is a computer simulation and upon reaching the Kardashev designation, it's too much for the simulation to handle and you get pixelation, flattening, looping etc. all seen here. Basically, the universe becomes Superman 64 and just glitches the entire society our of existence.

Okay, so, mini-review/rant

To be fair, this might be someone's favorite so I'll start with its strengths:

- This SCP takes the idea of the Fermi paradox and runs with it, and I love that so much
- This SCP does not appear to be written badly and it is indeed interesting
- This SCP brings forth a different breed of unexplainable world ending threat, no cults or malice like the Scarlet King or that very big giant that is chained and supposed to end the universe, no weird Cthulhu thing, just reality itself acting in a way that is unknowable

Now that that is over, here are my big issues:

This SCP was given the inch of the foundation having essentially endless resources and instead took the fucking mile, imo the foundation is always better when It feels like there is a struggle to both keep the veil of normalcy and safeguard humanity from the end of everything, this is still the case within this story as the foundation cannot actually contain this SCP (why is this shit not Apollyon btw? I know people are tired of "this shit ends the world lmao" scps but this one deserves it) but it's not that, it's that they both have FTL travel and what feels like s copious amount of drones

This story, if you want to keep it canon within your mind, kind of trivializes any possible struggle the foundation has by essentially asking you to take your suspension of disbelief and asking you to make simply not have disbelief at all, there's this trivial attitude towards both the existence of aliens and the foundations access to FTL.

I personally feel this way harder as the Malfunctioning Destroyer is one of my favorite SCPs of all time and this kind of trivializes the foundation's struggle to contain it.

Also the bit about the foundation being able to both translate and understand messages of a civilization that the universe fundamentally erased "every trace of" feels like a bit of a plot hole... Or maybe the author was expecting me to erase my disbelief even more somehow (?)

Idk, 8/10 in general, good SCP but to me I'll try my earnest to unexist it within my memory. XD

If anyone wishes to argue against my views on it, feel free, I'd like to know why you liked it so much.

My headcanon is that our universe is in fact a simulation. SCP-3426 is a sort of "immune response" from the simulation that removes any being or civilizations that make this discovery.

This SCP sounds like an entity or society that found the secrets of the universe or already possess it, and didn’t want anyone else to hang out at the party.

while i really like these type of grand, cosmic-scale scps that have unknown, generally malicious intentions and actions, i have one consistent issue with them...

there is no way in hell that an organization would consider a statue that you have to look at or get your neck snapped to be one of their most notorious boogeymen, while also possessing FTL travel
