I know most people probably don't care about the hardware hacking route but failoverflow completely destroyed it(2016?).
The hardware design and security is absolutely baffling especially how everything is connected is just so weird. Watch the conference video if you want to know more It's crazy.
It totally lets you run unsigned code but it also doesn't run any of the Sony code so it's not really good for piracy or Homebrew. Although it's a computer for all intents and purposes so it does anything a computer does. I guess you could technically consider it homebrew considering you probably had to recompile the kernel for it.
Using similar methods you could research what's going on to find new vulnerabilities or potentially exploit using that method. Personally I'm very interested in what's running on that SOC. Very fiddly and possibly expensive hardware modding isn't really ever going to be super popular.(I miss you Xbox 360 scene)

Theflow is basically why vitas are so expensive right now a pstv is about $200usd on average. Sheesh. Theflow keptthat thing alive in the last few years and it looks like the same for ps4

I had a PS4 that wasn't used in long enough that I could've modded it, but honestly the complete loss of online usability was enough for me not to. I've modded every other system i've owned.

In my country, all modded versions of PS except PS5 are available. Bless those pirates. It must have saved me $1500+ in gaming. I thing it serves greedy behemoths right for overpricing their games. $60 for just 8-9 hour of a game is extreme of greediness.

At this point, why doesn't someone just MAKE a console that plays PS4 and 5 games like an emulator? Just build a console from the ground up. Like the Steam Deck. Hackers and Modders are into pushing themselves into a challenge. I'm sure most of these hackers already work for Sony or Microsoft. That's why they are always one step ahead of them.

I’d almost get a PS4 and run Linux just to see how my games run on it with Wine and DXVK, instead of just the Linux native games. It’d be fun to compare it to a PC with similar power specifications.
