Laiv Harmony GaNM power amplifiers bring the best of all worlds

I have a pair of AGD Duets which I really like so I would be very interested to know how they compare with the LAiV amplifiers.

Got some on order. Can’t wait and yes think good value for money.

I totally agree with your impressions. I think these are the best product LAIV has produced so far. I was extremely skeptical that they would perform, I was very disappointed with the Topping B200's sounded very thin to me, but the LAIV GANM's just blew me away. I have not tried them with other manufacturers equipment, but they really complete the sound of the Harmony Dac and HP2a preamp. They also have that surprise factor, because they are so small, every time I look at them, and then turn on my music, I just can't believe how big they sound.

What about preamp pairing?!

The GaNM transistors are still expensive but are already used in switching PS. They will get cheaper and I'm sure some lower priced products will make good use of them. Nice review,

Fantastic review of these game changing Laiv products.
I would be interesting to see them up against some better implementations of Hypex Ncx and purify monos that, to me, have many of the same qualities you discussed for less money.

Ive got 3 rigs in my place. Been into HiFi for about 25 years now. When it comes to soundstage and imaging I have found it is EXTREMELY recording dependent. Also, placement of your speakers makes an impact. Affecting depth and width, along with center image. Components........impact these factors MUCH less. It's either in the recording or it isn't.

I checked , these amps are not cheap , even in China lol. They go for Rmb42k ! All I can say is between Rmb 15-30k , there are a ton of options. But the form factor is very cool , esp for ppl with limited space but want a lot of power.

These amp and dacs from Laiv have lots of appeal, but i have my reservation about reliability and repairs, once out of warranty good luck getting any customer support or even third party repairs. I also dont see the value in the product, Laiv may have priced them too high from a manufacturer that is new to the industry with no real history

The trouble is, when I see you get so excited by a product (like you did here), I now really want them! 😂🤷😂

Very nice review. I find something missing from the market today: A low power GaN amp, for high sensitivity loudspeaker owners. Something at 8-15 watts only, simple, without all the blinky-lights stuff. Even without a power supply (so we can select ourselves). Why does not anybody make this?

I am from Germany and this is my first visit on your YT channel. I see your famous review about the Laiv. It is great and your description helps me to find a new mono-amplifier. Now, I am the owner of an amp by Musical Fidelity. But actually I could image that I will try out the Laiv Harmony GaNM if he could be another smart audible match for my system. I have lost faith in class D amplification after ordering Hypex Nilai amp and comparing it with Accuphase E-5000, Nilai sounded great in sound quality but in terms of musicality and showing emotions it was dull and boring, just a magic box which produce sound, on the other hand Accuphase was on at least same level in terms sound quality but the listening to the music was extremely fun and engaging - it just make me to listen another song and another...
So for me it feels that this review is biased/paid especially that there were no disadvantages exposed to this amp and no comparison to different class amplifiers on same sound quality level (like mentioned Accuphase/MusicalFidelity/McIntosh etc) - there was mentioned that such comparison will be in next video so I cannot wait to see it.

What you describe in great detail and relevant nuances is a quite ideal "sound" for an amplifier. I have heard SiC and GaN based prototypes in the past, and they were really good, like you described, and while I still heard better (well, YMMV) tube amps in direct comparison, the differences were so minor I was left in unbelief. These new amps defy old stereotypes and get very close to the best DHT amps even in the mids... exciting times.

Don’t buy anything that doesn’t have a return policy. It doesn’t make sense. Just because a reviewer says it sounds great in their room doesn’t mean it will sound great in your room. Reviewers should let their listeners know about the policies of the manufacturer. If you don’t like the product you are stuck trying to sell it and you lose money and time. I lost a lot of money this way. I checked with laiv harmony and as far as I can tell they don’t offer returns neither does denafrips and other Chinese company’s. If your products are so great let consumers have a in home trial. Buyer beware.

This vs a Momentum? Wouldnt take a second to decide.Class D and its derivatives won long ago on the lower end of this hobby.
