I really appreciate this (even though of course it is old lol) it's nice to see the innovation in the beginning.

Man, I started with Ready-Set-Go and the Radius screen (And Accelerator), I still work today with Indesign, photoshop and illustrator, I've been doing this for so long now.

It's fantastical to think such an impressive market has been handed to Adobe as subscription-only as part of a strategy to destroy Quark and Freehand, while ensuring idiot users upgrade their Apple computer every two-years.

When I was in middle school, I was on the yearbook staff and took a journalism class as we attempted to create a school newspaper. We didn't use a computer, and that probably was best at that introductory stage.

By the time I got to high school, it was a whole new world of typing out our articles and editing them. Our news writing instructor worked at the local newspaper, and brought the latest software.

One critical software program was Aldus PageMaker, the program discussed in this episode. I literally saw the transition from the days of cutting and pasting on a draft board to laying out entire pages on a Mac computer. 💁🏻‍♂️

I began doing Windows-style destop publishing since I bought my first Cybernet microcomputer, Canon color laser printer, and Canon flat-bed scanner in 2002. I have made semi-professional files, including my own business cards, brochure and flyers, so that I can open my typing service. Hence, I am a keyboard specialist, and my keyboarding computer skills complements my keyboarding skills. In 1990, I took a course in Advanced Desktop Publishing, because I had the keyboarding under my belt, and my classmates had to learn typewriting before they took the desktop publishing course. I was exposed to the Macintosh Plus computer. I used Aldus Pagemaker and liked it very much. My classmates used Adobe Illustrator, but I used Microsoft Wordso that I can get more feel of working with printer fonts. Previously, I worked at a graphics shop hired as a typist to learn typsetting. I had lesser interest doing graphics arts than I have now. I created the simple graphics with Microsoft Publisher. Today, I have a Dell Inspiron computer with Microsoft Office 2021 Professional, including Publisher 2021, a Canon all-in-one color laser printer, complete with a scanner and copying features. Doing office productivity at home should be much easier than before.

How that tiny Mac monitor could be used for that is beyond me. I mean it was even small back then.

Wow, that dude moving the cursor from one screen to another was trippy. That's gotta be the earliest example of multiple screen display in the consumer market.

This is fantastic, I'm giggling like a loon!

FTW, As an Engineering Student, I used an Apple Mac SE and Aldus Pagemaker to layout my University's Student Union run Newspaper back in '89. It was the first time we converted fully over to digital layout instead of organic, hand-based, cut and paste. The very next year, the Art Students took over again and they went back to manual cut and paste - roflmao!

Thanks for sharing these classic TV episodes. I've been hooked on Computer Chronicles lately, for reasons I can't fully explain. I guess I just miss the excitement of the early days of the computer revolution of the 1980s and 1990s. Today, our computers have god-like powers and can do everything we imagine with ease. And, yet, I find myself wishing that I could play around with a classic 16-bit computer like a Mac, ST or Amiga. I have no idea what's wrong with me. I hope this isn't my "mid-life crisis," because I'd really prefer to drive race cars instead.
