Setting up a MEDIA SERVER using Kodi!

Hey its not working for me. Kodi doesnt show up on my android VLC, both are connected to the same home wifi.

smb1 is asking for a password for each directory level.

I know this is old, but it is still very relevant. Thanks. Question: When the Kodi server streams a video to the client device, where does the decoding occur, at the server or the client?

I have 12 android TVs that kodi installed and the video file that i want to play stored on each TV it can run from windows 10 using WEB Remote but I have to assign the ip for the tv that i want to play the file on it , is there a way to give command from windows to run all TVs togather in same time ?

Finally I have managed to understand how to connect to my kodi server and play content on my TV!!!

PLEX is garbage; pretty garbage, but still garbage. Kodi can do video-over-LAN, it just requires some tech know-how.

My media server is set up via my router, I have tried vlc on my laptop but it doesn't pick up the media, do you know of a media player for windows 10 that will detect and play from my media server? Wmp does not work either.
