I AM GUESSING FROM THIS REVIEW, IF YOU WERE BUYING ONE TODAY, YOU’D GO WITH THE NEWER XL MODEL? ALSO HAVE YOU NOTICED ANY BURNING OR RUINING OF THE SURFACE YOU HAVE THE GRILL SETTING ON? JUST ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT THE GRILL AND PLATES, HOW DO THEY HOLD UP WITH METAL UTENSILS? OR ARE YOU NOT RECOMMENDED DOING CHOPPING OR CUTTING ON IT, LIKE YUO HAD MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO?

You can use a steam cleaner on any electric item

Those are crazy expensive pellets! I can pick up a 20 pound bag of pellets at Walmart for under 9 bucks.

Can I use it in a cold Canadian winter? Will it stand up to the cold?

But does it have that charcoal flavor? I use a charcoal grill (never gas) because of the charcoal taste it gives the meat. If it does I would get one.

i have a small space in the city so i can't have a proper grill or anything that spews fire for that matter, i can't help but wonder how does this stack up to cooking on actual coal/wood. does the meat get that lovely char that distinguishes it from something that's oven-cooked? i understand that i can't be 100% 1 to 1 to real fire, but does it even come close? because the sceptic in me makes it sound like it's a high powered contact grill without the top plate but with a smoker.
for context, i'm from eastern europe where there is very little of american grill culture but a lot of cooking meat on wood, hence my hesitation

I contacted Ninja and BBQ guys yesterday,21 Aug 23, bout the pro connect xl. I asked a simple question- what is the length and width in inches for the actual cooking area where the food is placed on. Neither could answer this simple question; totally got smoke blown up my six. Just to add Ninja and BBQ guys list the max temp for the pro connect XL at 500 F. If anybody has the pro connect XL will you please measure the length and width of the actual cooking surface. thanks

New subscriber here… Thanks for a great review. Ninja heard your request and just recently released a Woodfire Pro Connect XL and I will definitely be jumping on that model. Supposedly it has 30% more cooking capacity and 700 degree temp, alone with other cool features. This seems like an opportunity for a seared you’re looking for….. I can’t wait to see your review and input on this newer model.

They seem to have given a lot of them away for reviews. You were paid, that grill isn't cheap. And if you want more products free to review, you'll give it a great review. 😅 Still on the search for a regular Joe review.

Ninja Foodi items are notoriously difficult to clean. I have the Ninja Foodi 10 in 1 XL Pro Air Fryer Oven and love everything about it except cleaning it. You have to thoroughly clean it each and every time you use it otherwise a sandblaster is the only thing that will clean those oven walls. Many people swear by the Pink Stuff (mildly abrasive) but so far I have just used soap, hot water and the hubby's elbow grease.

Great review! I think this Ninja is next on my shopping list. I have the Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill (indoor) as well.

Looks like the grill plate is ceramic coated but the fryer basket is other "non-stick" material. I'll be using my old stainless steal basket I guess.

Thanks for the video. Very informative. My plasma donation center has a giveaway of one of these in July, so I decided to see what it was all about. Just me and my mom here, and maybe my sister and her 2 kids in awhile. Looks like it is a easy to operate and clean, all in one, that performs very well. I like the size not too big, but enough, and of course all the things you can do with it. It seems to really simplify everything as well. I think we could get a lot of use from it. Hope I win. Lol fingers crossed.
Thanks again for the review. 👍

I know nothing about pellets. Is there something specific about the Ninja pellets?
The ones you mentioned from Amazon say they work for the Ninja, is why I am asking. Is this because of size?

After having my wood fire grill for about 1 month, I found I didn't care much for the pellets Ninja provided so I've since switched to using Royal Oak Charcoal hardwood pellets. I am totally in love with the flavor these pellets deliver. Much better. I don't think I will ever return to using the ninja pellets again. Cleaning is a breeze but sometimes it takes a while for the pellets to die down. I have used a light water spray bottle to cool them, works fine to extinguish a little faster. Good review!

I will be waiting for the XL high temp version. The problem with high heat over 500 f is it will break down non stick coatings. It is probably the no 1 reason most non stick pans stop working after awhile. they could provide a pure cast iron or stainless steel cook surface for high temps. Come on Ninja you make an XL of everything else.
