Totally agree, frustrating catch 22 with hardware and content. I'm a content creator frustrated to the neck that the race to build the best HMD is apparently without regard to what to actually use the tech for...entertainment, education, creative tools etc It appears that we are all invited to jump into multiple verses but then there's little to do there apart from buy NFT's and chat. I'm really hoping for a content catchup focus because the technology is undoubted to be our most widespread revolution across multiple areas.

Whats the onboard storage capacity on this rig?

It looks great, but they're suffering from the same idiocy that early computer developers suffered from and that's lack of compatibility and interoperability with other games and third party devices. It doesn't compel developers to make games and content as companies that manufacture brand locked devices are old fashioned and outmoded in the extreme, and guarantees they don't make the profits available. It's a shame these manufacturers as so insular and up their own rear end when it comes to the issue of compatibility. Can you image if certain films or tv series on bluray were brand locked and would only work on a manufacturer's brand of bluray player and wouldn't work on others? Well that's what happening in games and VR and gamers are just too dumb to say "This is wrong, make your devices compatible!" Instead they eat dogshit and think it tastes just like clavier.

My bro is all in on the XR Elite, though he has the PC to knock its lights out. PC tethering never really clicked with me.

All I want is a VR headset that works like a Samsung smart TV - extremely simple usage, search through the same apps as my TV (incl. their layout and GUI) and be able to use the headset as a monitor that accepts "Send to" from any device around me. Connecting to a PC via DP, HDMI or whatever would be also a nice feature for games to look around with your head but not a must for me (but definetly a plus for others).

Who does headsets like that? Nobody.

Did you get a chance to test the xr elite already? Would be interested in what you think. Other reviews are quiet bad yet

Was thinking of buying this but then realized it has less game playing value than the pico 3 at 4 times the cost, I am a little uncomfortable paying for hype.i have absolutely no use for something not backed up by an array of good standard games, to me it is just a wall decoration.

I just purchased one. I should have it soon. One big point and the reason I bought it is that the IPD goes to 73, (Mine is 72) and it has adjustable lens so you can play without glasses. That is worth a lot to some people.

I want to ask a question, please, I have the quest pro, and seriously, I am considering returning it and buying the Vive xr elite. Is it better or what?
And is it having the same virtual desktop as the quest pro?
Is it with a sharper image, especially to read the text in Excel?
Is it more colorful than the quest pro?
Is there an Immersed option on it like quest pro?
What are the most significant disadvantages of it compared to quest pro?
At last, do you think I should replace quest pro with it?
I am suffering a lot because of the uncomfortable weight of the Quest Pro; this is why I want to return it along with the form factor.

Main important thing is, can you play population one with the XR elite (PCVR)?? Cause it has no Displayport-In, only a USB-Port-In.

I find it incredible that after all this time they cant figure out a killer application...This is classic hey lets build it and then find a problem it can solve. Doesn't work that way.

I think I know why HTC's content is the way it is. We got SteamVR too, seems HTC likes Steam doin the game thing. But I was watching Nvidia's tech conference the other night, and I think that's the direction HTC is going "Asset Creation" and all that accelerated computing stuff.
HTC seems to be at the forefront of this tech. I too wondered "What the heck HTC?" Become a dev, HTC seems to be the tool of that tech. You want to spend hours in VR? That's the way to go, be a dev while the world still needs more devs. Better to claim a paycheck before A.I. gets underway. You think Chat-GPT, GPT-4 is something. You'll need a seat belt to learn the rest. Was going to go with Oculus but didn't want or need another FB account. takes forever to get rid of FB, just when you think its gone, nope you can still sign back in. YUK hate companies doing business like that. Don't care about price when it comes to privacy. You should see VR in Accelerated computing environments! H.O.L.Y..... (yup). Look up Lambda Vector, 4- RTX4090's!!! Or A100's. Should be a real nice update to any VR set, seems HTC will stand out the best though. Do a review too!! I'm on standby...

I really like this if it had rgb oled panels with more resolution. I'd spend twice the amount.

I cancelled the preorder on the pimax crystal and ordered the vive instead. looking for it from amazon on the 28th of march.

I would seriously think about buying it cus I don't want to wear glasses with it, and also don't have to buy lens's for it.

PS5 + PSVR2 = $1099.... so all the 2D content and exclusive VR content on a platform backed by Sony. Strike 1. People get suckered into Meta VR with cheap price but that's really $500+ to be comfortable and is a meh PC VR experience. Standalone, it's hard to beat the Subsidized Quest 2. Strike 2. Top spec Varjo Aero $2K... if you have the monster PC, RTX 3080+ why not go to the best 2880x2720 spec MiniLEDs if you're going to depend on SteamVR light stations. Strike 3. I don't see that this is a path I want after my OG Vive and my disappointing Quest 1.

yea hardly got to use my vive the rt controller chuts off when the trigger is pulled and the supply of controllers sucked years with a bad controller from the box. with no support . maybe the controllers will work with the vive I own.

That's sounds pretty nice, I hope it can fullfill the expectations, because I will sell my Quest 1 this year, cause meta will end the support completley by the end of this year, so I need a new good headset (if possible standalone) by a different company (yeah, meta never again honestly...)

Given they support prescription lens wearers natively is a massive USP for me. So disappointing to see it removed after Oculus DK2.

I mostly play PC games with my quest 2 via airport, so I don't know if the lack of standalone content would be an issue for me.
I basically just install one or two games standalone in case I go on a trip or something, but 99% of the time I'm playing games in the same room as my PC so as long as the wifi is seemless and without major issues I'm fine

I'd really like to know how the controllers compare to the quest pro controllers. I really like the idea of inside out controller tracking, but all I really need is for the controllers to be tracked more than 180 degrees, for example when playing ping pong I would routinely be returning the ball from past 180 degrees, which would cause the Quest 2 to lose tracking. But there is no reason that the controllers can't be headset tracked beyond 180 degrees if the cameras are spaced properly. I also have problems on my Pico 4 when pulling a bow string too close to the face, as you have mentioned on this channel before.

The issue with this headset is for 125 more dollars you can by 3 quest 2 headsets. What if the headset flops you are left with 1099 dollar headset with nothing to play on it. Oculus made the quest headsets cheaper so they could move more units making content development lucrative. They need to work on their business model before I would buy one

I heard the passthrough isn't depth correct. If that's true then that's a killer for an XR headset. Other than that the specs looks great. I love that the strap can be changed.

I had the original HTC Vive until a year ago. Does anyone know if the games bought on Steam VR that are now available in stand alone versions for these VR headset can be transferred to the headset? Or do you have to buy the games all over. That is what keeps me from buying Quest 2 or Pico 4, because I would have to buy them again. Pico 4 still seem to be better in both hardware and price.
