What’s your favorite Superman story that I didn’t mention here?
ОтветитьNo amount of hate will ever erase the fact that Superman is a timeless character. I will always love Superman and will forever be fascinated by him
ОтветитьI can’t stand the Snyder fans shit on Superman, call him boring and say “the best version is the Snyder one”.
Just shows they never opened a comic book in their lives
I started with the elseworld story "whatever happened to the man of tomorrow." I used to write off superman and his no kill rule as lazy writing and doing the right thing because he's superman, but that story made me realise the power behind his no kill rule. It's not that he won't kill normal people, it's that if he kills anyone he shouldn't be aloud to draw a line anywhere on who he can and can't. I could write about the story for hours but on the off chance you read this I'm gonna tell you to read it yourself
ОтветитьI'm not complaining about the list, but the fact that the Strange Visitor Superman comic isn't on here makes me sad
ОтветитьMy go to list for best Superman comics are :
1.Superman Birthright
2.All Star Superman
3.Superman For All Season
4.Superman American Alien
5.Superman Red Son
6.Kingdom Come
All good and well told stories that cover everything awesome about Superman. Reading all 6 will make you fall in love with the character
Superman: for all seasons is perfect anyone who hasn’t should read it. It’s four issues all in the eyes of a different person in Clark’s life viewing him differently it’s so good
ОтветитьWhat is so interesting about superman? he has no struggle, he has no cool villains, whereas Invincible is cooler because he has a moral struggle between killing people or keeping them alive, has the coolest villains ever like conquest, is more relatable, more emotional. I have read the superman comics, one of my favourite is peace on earth, but to me he just seems so basic
ОтветитьWhy is Tom King controversial?
ОтветитьAlmost clicked off the video when you said Injustice 😂
ОтветитьSuperman's my favorite dc hero
ОтветитьI’m begging you to do one of these videos for green arrow. After watching your video on him I got curious and binged justice league unlimited and i need more green arrow in my life
ОтветитьNothing personal, but I wouldn't advise anyone who wanted to know what Superman was about to read any of those stories for starters - maybe Up in the Sky, but otherwise no. They're not bad choices, but there are a lot of far better stories.
1. John Byrne's Man of Steel as an Origin, although Geoff Johns Secret Origin is also great.
2. Superman : Brainiac, smother Geoff Johns story. Really explains Clark's relationship with his Earth parents.
3. For the Man who has Everything, Alan Moore's best Superman story.
4. Kingdom Come: a truly great Superman story, one of the absolute best.
5. All Star Superman : this does for Superman, what the Dark Knight Returns did for Batman. Gives him a fitting finale.
6. Superman for All Seasons : not my favorite Superman story, but I appreciate it's quality.
7. Superman, Last Son: another great story, about Superman's complicated relationship with his own people. Most of the New Krypton stories are also great.
8. Superman Birthright is another good story about early Superman.
9. Superman Earth One
10. Superman: What's so funny about truth Justice and the American way. Pushes Superman to his breaking point.
Great choices! Love all of those.
I would also recommend Superman For All Seasons. I know that’s an obvious choice for many, but it is great for a new person to Superman. I would also recommend Superman Unchained. Great self-contained story with amazing art.
I never knew you wanted to wrote for Supes!! Reach for that dream! I believe in you!!
ОтветитьBirthright is my favorite
ОтветитьActually, I feel that Superman: Red & Blue, unlike Batman: Black & White, has no misses. I think it's 100% perfect all the way through. That's just me tho.
ОтветитьMy favorite Superman stories have to be:
- "Superman: Secret Origin"
- "Superman: Red Son"
- "Superman: Emperor Joker"
- "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies"
- "Death/Return of Superman"
(Plus many more)
Superman for All Season 👌
ОтветитьIn Red and Blue #1, the story Human Colors which is the frame of Red and Blue is one of the most imaginative Superman stories ever. Lots of psychology and what makes us human through the lens of a few critical character. A real must read!
ОтветитьWhich superman comics can kids read from the list and others
ОтветитьThis is cinema
ОтветитьI could not get into his comics until I read all star superman... It's amazing. Still one of the best books I've read.
Ответитьi always understood Superman's symbol and what it meant
and i hadn't never even picked a comic book of Superman, moral of the story, some people just get it
Superman is my favorite because he has the ability to inspire and save lives.
The best hero to get the job done.
now more than ever the world needs some hope
i sure as hell doo
i’m currently reading Superman: Birthright and it’s great so far! i would definitely recommend
ОтветитьI loved Up in the Sky but I had two big problems with it and both are in the first half of the 6th issue (SPOILERS): 1, the way Superman's sheer unstoppability is expressed through heavy-handed, repetitive dialogue irked the shit out of me, and 2, I don't believe for a second that all of Earth's heroes would be overpowered by a bunch of damn robots. Yes Superman is probably the most powerful hero, but Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, and countless others are so ridiculously friggin powerful that I do not believe they NEED Superman in order to defeat the invading force. It doesn't feel plausible and takes me out of the story. That said, it still ended strong (and made me cry). A beautiful comic and an excellent parable on the meaning of Superman.
ОтветитьI bought my first comic "Spider-Man: Lifestory" yesterday because of your Spider-Man video, and now I will get "Secret Identity" and "All Star." Thank you!
ОтветитьAll Star Superman was my first Superman comic, but I was already familiar with the character from movies and animation
Ответить"Superman can never be hurt"
Good luck telling that to anyone who watched the Justice League episode "For the Man Who Has Everything" or read the comic book story this was inspired by.
There are two types of Superman fans.
The majority that left a while back when certain highly unpleasant people at DC demanded they get rid of "the American way" and the few "fans" that think aging Jon up, turning him gay, and pushing VERY specific agendas is just the best ever.
I would argue that if Superman has to be gay, push only leftist ideology, and be a front for Democrat party propaganda that you are not an actual Superman fan. You're a fan of your ideology being shoved on everyone else and everything they love. If you can't embrace Truth, Justice, and the American way from the Christian raised, conservative, straight, White Male that Superman has always been then you not only don't get the character you are antithetical to everything Superman has always been about.
Two immigrant kids created the character to represent everything they saw as beautiful and good in America. Superman fought the Democrat created KKK. He fought the socialist Brownshirts and the fascist Blackshirts. He knew communism was inherently an evil and oppressive system. He was a Christian quoting the Bible. That is who Superman was up until about five minutes ago when leftist/democrat extremists starting rewriting the character and then flat out replacing him with his formally straight son. It's not us that have the problem its people demanding we rewrite everything to push their agenda.
Sorry you didn't have your pride shirt for the video, buddy.
Superman is, IS, the greatest superhero of all and that's a FACT.
It's literally his narrative purpose.
Thanks for the info, homie. I do have one little constructive criticism though. Sometimes, it's kinda hard to understand you. A lotta mumblin goin on. Maybe practice some of those enunciation exercises that actors do? idk
ОтветитьSorry, but I can’t agree with Superman red and blue. One story in that book really didn’t sit well with me
ОтветитьCommenting for the algorithm
ОтветитьCould you do best Flash comics for new readers
ОтветитьSuperman pride shirts🙏
ОтветитьInjustice is so dope
ОтветитьKeep up the good work. I love that I found your channel. I like your tales and genuine appreciation over the topics and your the coat of paint your personality and humor puts over the video. Definitely earned my sub. Well I think I subbed a couple days ago
ОтветитьI logically just thought he was boring growing up. Everybody would use the logic that Superman could beat Batman into a bloody pulp when I said the bats was my favorite. But I’d always reply “well no shit” he has super speed, can fly, has ice breath, laser eyes, and is nigh destructible. They literally had to give him a rock to tamper his powers. We have a coined word commonly used for a weakness because of him.. kryptonite. But as I grew up I realized most stories and concepts have the potential to be great or amazing if handled correctly. And I realized he introduced an interesting challenge to writers by giving him unique villains that gave the reader an actual feel of stakes and tension. I still love bats more but I’m not denying that his stories might be Cool too. Growing up I liked Superman a bit since my father had so much nostalgia for the movies. (He loved that bright burn movie omg.) Anyways I’ve made a list of stories I might like and you’re quickly becoming a favorite new creator so I might as well watch and add some more.
ОтветитьI hope Gunn’s news about his inspiration for the new Superman movie made you smile 😊
ОтветитьI love these comic recommendation videos
ОтветитьIt's pretty basic but I think Secret Origin is a good jumping in point and has a fresh take on the origin
ОтветитьGreat video. I just picked up Superman Up In The Sky today and I can't wait to read it.
Ответитьjust read Superman: Up in the Sky and loved it a ton, thanks dude
ОтветитьIs that a The Adventure of Superman and Jerry Seinfeld reference?
ОтветитьGrant Morrison is an amazing writerq. You should read their other comics. They are great.
