Certainly the armed resistance is rooted in the people. Equally at all stages Israel, the US and before the UK has always worked to create and exploit divide and rule differences.

In the short term, the USA has stepped in to negotiate with Hamas because up until the other day Israel has refused to accept that it has failed to defeat Hamas militarily. A humanitarian pause is necessary to allow food to the women and children of Gaza and to avoid escalation of the conflict. In the long term the Mouin Rabbani's view applies. But first we have to get there by halting the killing and exchanging the hostages/prisoners for the sake of all humanity.

Max always gives good independent reporting. I do agree with Mouin in a post Israel world the Palestinians will need some form of an interim government. Possibly a UN Transitional Authority for atleast a year and 9 months to help form a government and rebuild the society. Like they did in Kosovo after the Yugoslavia regime fell.
