Thank you to the amazing L4D2 mod community that still goes strong to this day.

I know this was made 3 years ago and there hasn't been a new video on the channel for the same amount of time but I gotta ask what campaigns were you playing through, not needing the survival but just campaigns that run full stories. I saw at C tier was a slowmo event as the start so kinda got interested in getting these steam workshop addon maps to run through as I have only gotten one recommended from a random I played with for a bit. If anyone is seeing this in 2025 maybe some recommended one can be given as well as I wanna get out of the classics but only see a but of them being goofy or having titles in japanese or russian. Please help and also I hope Goom that you're alright and doing well in life. And I'd like to thank in advance anyone who gives their recommendations. Love the l4d community and hope yall can help a newbie of the workshop a hand :)

Sniper rifles are the beast for their piercing shot's

Nah the dual pistols are fine in B tier

My top picks are military sniper and AK with a laser sight. With a little getting used to, the sniper is badass and it's ammo efficiently is amazing. The semi auto combined with high damage rounds is mixed just right.

The military sniper has worse base accuracy than the hunting rifle as its tradeoff. The military sniper with laser sights has movement accuracy on par with the movement accuracy of the regular hunting rifle without sights. That said, if you find sights for the military sniper, then there is practically no point in using the hunting rifle since it removes its only strong argument for use over the mil

I almost always play for the military sniper since I'm decent at hitting my shots and don't play on a difficulty that giga nerfs the snipers, but one recent run I had laser sights and the 552 spawn in the same room and my eyes were fucking opened wide. If I get access to it that's what I play now

If I'm forced to be stuck with the default pistols, I actually prefer having a single one over the pair. It's much more accurate, and the reload is so stupidly fast that the smaller quantity of bullets per reload doesn't matter.

I think its nice that none of the guns are good enough that you feel forced to use them. Preference and play style really define what gun works best for you.

Quick sidenote and bad news i think the 1 tap mechanic on Ak47 is now gone while testing animations for the Ak from the workshop. I noticed while testing that the 1 tap mechanic is now gone on SI now it takes 2 shots to kill (Jockey, Hunter, Smoker) and before it takes only 2 shots to take down a charger now it takes 3 idk test it yourself guys maybe its just a bug but if its a shadow nerf then pretty much Scar is on par with Ak now because scar can still 1 shot SI albeit its a burst shot and 3 bullets per shot as for the AK takes 2 bullets.




Update: I did the math now it makes sense it was a bug after all. Correct me if I'm wrong but headshotting has a multiplier of 4x so if we take that to account means 58 x 4 = 232 and aside from the spitter who has 100hp. The hunter, smoker, jockey has above HP than the 232 damage bonus and now it makes sense why charger takes 3 bullets to kill headshot wise. the dude has 600hp so if you multiply 232 by 3 you get 696. Dunno just want to throw this out there if anyone starts wondering why the 1 tap AK doesn't exist no more

the one thing i don't like about the combat rifle is it's burst fire; if you're like me and you actually TRY to avoid friendly fire, it is a nightmare. Not being able to quit firing when you take your finger off of the trigger once an unsuspecting survivor accidentally runs in front of your gun is almost guaranteed to do some damage. This becomes a major problem on expert. The improved accuracy is negated by it's damage falloff; because it doesn't have the same insta-kill mechanic as the AK-47, it becomes much harder to clear pinned survivors from a distance.

I can usually play around more inexperienced survivors that run in front of my line of fire, except when I'm using this gun. It definitely feels more like an A tier weapon than an S tier one to me.

I have a shamefully high amount of hours into the 360 version of this game. I haven't played any dlcs. Is this why i haven't heard of the sg 552, mp5, or m60? Or did i miss them in the game somewhere?

In my opinion only:
As a melee user ALL melee weapons for me is a S+ tier (except for the chainsaw) ... All AR and SR is A tier.
All Shotguns is S tier because I'm really good at crowning a witch and killing all zombies in the head.
M60 has a limited amount of ammo 150 only so it's not that good D tier. Pistols and smg's are B tier. No E tier or F tier for me because i hate getting E and F letters

Tip for the grenade launcher; idk if this works with incendiary rounds but it does work with normals rounds and a gas can: If you throw the a gas can next to a witch and shoot them, stumbling the witch and setting her ablaze, she won’t attack you. For some reason she’ll just run aimlessly until she dies

The Australian version of L4D2 didn't have the gore or the extra weapons.

Dual Pistols are very underrated. They're the closest thing to an M16 in a secondary slot.

Katanas have an interesting geometry and it's absolutely impressive that the Japanese managed to make workable iron from sand. But let's not fool ourselves! That inferior source of steel is a flaw! The metallurgy I actually think was inferior to other parts of the world! Steel had more impurities than the steel in other parts of the world! Katanas don't get me wrong are good swords and the Japanese may have had more consistency and standardization when it came to making swords than anybody else which is in its own wright, very impressive! But katanas use a more primitive smelting process and have a rigid hard blade which doesn't make it bad but it certainly doesn't make it great or at the very least not better than sword steel in other parts of the world! I love the katana but I also love the truth!

Magnum is amazing!

I personally don't like the combat rifle (SCAR) because of how long it takes to reload

Edit: OveralI pretty good video, however I don't quite understand how the SG is two tiers higher than the M16. They both have the same stats with the scope being the only difference. Given that the M16 is already pretty accurate, especially with laser sights, the scope isn't that important. I think the M16 with special ammo or laser sights could go up one tier.

u forgot to mention that the hunting rifle trades magazine capacity for accuracy, at times the hunting rifle is better due to the military sniper not being 100% accurate as a sniper

What is the HUD mod that you are using?

My list would look a little different since I only played Expert Realism almost exclusively. My go-to was always the Mac-10, ideally with laser sight - its spread pattern just made it super easy to spray down hordes with headshots, and it became a scalpel with laser sight, though it definitely underperforms against specials without special ammo.

The AK I liked quite a lot, in some ways it's a direct upgrade to the Mac - its damage output was good, but its overall accuracy and recoil meant it was difficult to quickly pick heads off like you can with the M16, or spray many like with the Mac.

I was blown away by the SG552 when I first came across it - it feels like it has the best aspects of all the weapons and none of the disadvantages - decent damage, high precision, recoil and spray that was good for crowd control, good range - and a scope for sniping heads and specials. I think it should've kept the 30-round mag instead of being upped to 50, cause nothing else really competes.

Oh and of course the magnum would be up there - once you get the knack of aiming it on the move (keeping target in the bottom-right quadrant of the xhair) you could keep commons off not just your own back but everyone else's with ease.

The SCAR can die in a fire - I hate, hate, hate burst-fire weapons in games that make you fire the entire burst from a single mouse-click. It increases friendly-fire risk and makes it very ammo inefficient - not to mention it's just inauthentic. The gun its self has always just looked ugly to me in that tan finish, especially with an empty top-rail.

The thing about l4d2 i love is none of the guns suck, you can pick up the gun solely based on your personal preference, i always go for the shotguns which suits my style bc I almost always take point. Except my favorite weapon, the m60. I also love the grenade launcher even tho everyone else I play with hates it. I’d personally swap your A and S tier

The scar being a burst is not a con its a pro, its make you have ammo longer in your mag instead of mag bumping into a dead zombie.

As far as tier lists go, this one is C because of lack of readability

Im actually quite impressed that i recognized as a 12 year old kid that the ak with lazersight is the best combination in the game

It’s worth pointing out that the mag is the best weapon to have when incapacitated
