ОтветитьI have a mechanic who was replacing my alternator, he claims that I ruined all of his work by putting my foot on the accelerator after he “successfully”got my new alternator around the belt. I literally started my car gave it gas and he says my belt popped bc of that, ive never had this problem with my car if anyone can tell me if it was actually me or did he never have the belt in place?

ОтветитьI was able to replace alternator and battery with new ones but still not charging battery. I disconnect battery and engine turns off, I check with meter and reads 12.5 v with engine on but that's what the battery reads too so nothing higher when engine is on. Can this regulator prevent power or alternator from charging battery? On Town and Country 2011.
ОтветитьOne question is the same in a Ford Ranger sport the battery turns on on the dashboard but it is not the battery

ОтветитьThis wasnt even a half hour job on my 02 4.0l ranger. Good stuff the original lasted almost 21 years. I had to use the same type of cheater bar to break em' bolts lose.

ОтветитьYou can also see if the Alt is working by puting a flat head screw driver behind the Alt and if the magnet sticks to the screw driver the Alt is good it only works while the alt is in the running mode

ОтветитьI’ll tell you something funny: Alternators last almost forever. They don’t stop working because of a bearing failure, or a winding failure.
Alternators have a five dollar pair of diodes; which control the flow of the electrical current. When these diodes burn-out, the alternator stops working.
Fifty years ago, alternators were always made with a little door on top, to access the diodes. Any handyman could test the diodes right in the driveway. If the diodes tested bad, then they could be replaced in five minutes. The alternator itself almost never fails.
But around 1980, Ford and GM buried the diodes deep in the body of the alternator, so that they could no longer be tested. The intent was to force customers to spend five hundred dollars for a new alternator; instead of a five dollar pair of diodes. Ford and GM make a fortune on replacement alternators. And that’s how things are today. Every American car on the road has been sabotaged.
I think that this is grounds for a class-action lawsuit. It’s theft by deception.
Oh sure this would be easy if it wasn't for my alternator literally buried right under the engine next to the oil pan.

Now see, alternators grounding on the bracket is not something I saw mentioned in the manual I have. This is the kind of info your vids are good for.
