The gospels were not considered reliable during the time of mohamed therefore when god speaks to the people of the gospel he is referring to the people who had the original scriptures before they were changed. Muslims are marinated in the free-floating presupposition that the qur'an is the necessary judge for all things and are evidently completely unable to think in any other way. The qur'an is never justified (though it play-acts at it by praising previous scriptures that in turn condemn it), rather it is asserted to simply serve as its own justification. But this is circular logic and obviously fallacious. And really, what is the qur'an to an outsider? It hardly compels trust and submission. Why ought I believe in anything the qur'an says? Its poetry? Subjective. Is Shakespeare then a prophet? Homer? Virgil? Its preservation? Uthman. And even error can be perfectly preserved. We are thus left in a deadlock. The Muslim say the Bible is corrupted and that Christians are polytheists who will go to hell, and the Christian says the Qur'an is a false revelation straight from the depths of Hell, as warned of in Galatians 1:8 and that muslims will go to hell for denying the divinity of the Son and Holy Spirit. We cannot get any further in a discussion if this is the end all be all of the discussion.

To Muhammad's credit, he was no idiot, because he knew he had to meet some other external standard that the people of his time would accept. For If Muhammad's criteria for his prophethood is to actually mean anything, then it must also be possible for him to fail to meet this criteria. Otherwise this is just "A surah like it" all over again, that is, "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose".

Jews and Christians checked their scriptures and found nothing about him. Thus they are justified in rejecting him, as Muhammad failed to meet his own criteria. To then yell "Corruption!" is not only circular, but it also makes the criteria meaningless. This concept of "corruption" is facile and pathetic and is a mainstay of just about any religious cult that claims to "restore" something. And it is always the same song and dance - "yeah I am totally in the bible bro, trust me bro.". Islam is nothing more than an earlier version of Mormonism, down to the lustful, polygamous and violent founders

"Allah", being the perfect communicator (and the qur'an supposedly being Allah's eternal Word) should have just come out clean and said "My previous revelations have been corrupted and are not to be trusted". Instead we get this circular bullshit which is an insult to reasonable people everywhere, where the muslims can only cite that which is in question as evidence for their claim. Ockham's Razor - Maybe, just maybe, Muhammad was simply mistaken? Ah, but that would falsify Islam, so we get these grand conspiracy theories that seem straight out of a Dan Brown novel.

Regardless, Muhammad set up a criteria for authentication and failed to meet it. Jews and Christians are thus not beholden to anything that the Qur'an may claim. And Islam is shown to be irrational at its very core as it is completely dependent on circular reasoning - "the Qur'an is trustworthy because the Qur'an is right, and anything the Qur'an does not agree with is false, because the Qur'an is right".

This is out of context. This is exactly the same arguement raised by Jews when they claim that the Quran promises them Jerusalem.
The Qur'an, apart from guiding humanity to righteousness also tells stories. There are many chapters where a story is being narrated. With that said, the Gospel, as mentioned in the Quran, is referred to as the original word-to-word saying of the book revealed to Jesus PBUH in his native language. It in no way refers to the Gospel or the Bible we have now. So basically, it tells a story that the people of this time got this authentic revelation of the Gospel and blah blah.
Similarly with the promise to the tribe of Israel, the Qur'an narrates the history of the Jews. It tells us how Jews were indeed God's favourite people. He would give them food, water shelter and everything that was scarce at that time and most importantly, He gave them Jerusalem and protected them. All this for they shall follow their faith and must not spread corruption on the Holy Land. They eventually did what they were prohibited to. They caused corruption. They broke God's promise and went astray. The consequences are then visible. Jerusalem was taken from them i.e. they got attacked and defeated by future empires. Even today, Israel is just a failure, breathing under the USA's shadow. It says in the Quran that since the Jews broke God's promise, they are in denial of the righteous path and so tells Muslims that no matter how close a Muslim and Jew are in this world, they cannot be friends. So Jews WERE ONCE God's favourite nation.
This is just so annoying that people who don't even know Arabic take a single verse out of the Qur'an, provide reference and think that they've raised the strongest claim against Islam. Personally, I wouldn't pick a verse from the Torah for criticism because I don't even know Hebrew.

I'm a Muslim and i think... I'm still a Muslim, why? Because you missed some key details and here is a few that i Will be talking about

1: The injeel and taurat books is a message from God like the Qur'an. But, the Qur'an is the correction of the taurat and injeel.

2: Remember when you said that the Qur'an said that the Qur'an "Allows itself to be changed"? Well that's partially true. It's just not accepted by the Muslims because it's not the original, and Allah will curse the person who changed the word of Allah

3: The Qur'an is very very precise in the location of verses and chapters to even science and knowledge

4: The Qur'an is well preserved and it can't be changed because over 1 million people memorised the whole Qur'an. And also. The bible has not been memorised fully.

5: The Qur'an is the word of Allah, so as the taurat and injeel. So that's why the Qur'an is "Exposing itself" while it's literally providing the history of the non-preserved كتاب or books that have been corrupted.

The muslims claimed they know about Jesus and the bible better than the "ignorant Christians" and yet they don't even look at their own religion. One of the Quranic verses said "there is no compulsion in religion" but they want sharia laws implemented. Just so you know they believe sharia laws came from God himself and one of its laws said that apostasy shall be punished with death. This law contradicts with the Quran itself where there is no compulsion in religion. Hence while muslims are saying that the bible and the torah are corrupted, they don't even know their "islamic" laws are manmade to the point it contradicts with their "contradictionless book".

So a couple of comments on the claims made:
The Quran speaks of The Gospel (Singular) or Al Injil which was handed to Jesus AS himself. It does not claim the Gospels (plural) to be correct, in fact it claims those scriptures are corrupted. Christian historians also agree with the scriptures being corrupted. The anonymous gosepl writers also claimed that they received “divine revelation” yet came with no miracles. Just because the Quran comes 500 years after the Bible doesn’t debunk it, since Christian scripture falls into the same boat.

First of all, as an educated person, I want to say the Quran says itself that Quran is different from the old books sent by Allah because the old books were protected by men, and the holy Quran shall be the first to be protected by Allah himself because it is the final order, allah stated he shall protect the one final true book unlike the others because this one is the holiest and the last to come and leave forever one day
