"Because Mr. Lincoln is too busy"...the shade
ОтветитьWhat is the difference between ginger wine and ginger beer?
Ответить“Oh dear, I’ve mistakenly added more gin. How delightful!”
ОтветитьMrs. Crocombe making a gin punch?!?! If i was wearing pearls, I would be clutching them! I don't know what to think, truly I don't!....
ОтветитьAns now we're finally knows Mr. Lincoln!! ❤❤🎉🎉
ОтветитьMrs. Crocombe surprised me! Usually she is always preaching about "temperance" and "prudence" and "chastity" and "virtue". Today she is putting a whole bottle of gin in the punch for the servants' party! I feel like Mrs. Crocombe is one step away from taking her top off and doing the CanCan topless at these servants' parties after one drink of her punch, behaving similarly to those "tarts" and "hartlots" who are always to be found at the "music hall" where no reputable high society dwell!
ОтветитьHad a similar punch at my nephew's wedding, in the Smokies, a few months back. His buddies had added two handles - that's a gallon, for you non - US lot - of gin to the punch; there was a steady line at the punch bowl.
ОтветитьI love the implication that Mr Lincoln is a drunk.
ОтветитьTwo shots of vodka...
ОтветитьI made some of these last Christmas and they ended up being very popular! They wound up being twice as thick as the ones shown here since we didn't have a wide enough pan but they still cooked through fine. I also sprinkled some powdered sugar over the top but I'd recommend only doing that right before serving and not if you have to pack them and bring them across town to a Christmas party lol
ОтветитьIt just blows my mind that Jesus was born to the lower classes and yet in Europe the upper classes got Christmas off but the servants didn’t. Servants had to wait until Boxing Day so that they could wait on their wealthy employers. Does that still happen today? Does the royal family expect to have people serve them on Christmas?
ОтветитьMrs Crocumb where would I get lemons in the middle of winter
ОтветитьI always associated scullery maid with a pirate’s 🏴☠️ saying😂
ОтветитьFinally - I can now put a face to the name. Can't quite imagine Mr. Lincoln going at it, though.
ОтветитьHow to get hammered: The Victorian Way
ОтветитьMr Lincoln is too busy shade given
ОтветитьSo I've modified the recipe, because I'm not much of a drinker, and I'm going to serve this at thanksgiving.
250g Brown Sugar
7 lemons
250g Honey
A Pinch of Cloves
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Nutmeg
Hot Water
750ml Spiced rum
Ginger ale
Combine everything EXCEPT the ginger ale. (I steeped the spices in the hot water like it was tea, then added the water to the rest) Chill it.
Keep the ginger ale on the side, and you can have whatever ratio ginger ale:punch as you like.
Note: I haven't tried it with these measurements, I just made a tiny batch to test it.
When served, should this be kept warm? Or allowed to cool?
EDIT: I'm going with cool.
I would love to buy the Christmas music on the Christmas videos of The Victorian Way.
Ответитьwait, after Boxing Day? I thought you had your celebration on Boxing Day.
ОтветитьThis is one of Mrs. Crocombe's shorter videos(just under 3 minutes) however it's one of the most satisfying to watch as she pours in each of the ingredients to the bowl.
ОтветитьWould it make me drunk? 😊
Ответитьand now the gin <pours in whole dang bottle>
ОтветитьIt would need to be, the non alcoholic version! for me👍😊
ОтветитьI can just imagine the crew and Kathy after a long day shooting drinking this along with the yummy treats as their well deserved reward
ОтветитьI only have brandy and cognac
ОтветитьMrs Crocombe, you had me at gin! Actually, just give me the gin.
ОтветитьToo many of these would make a guest lose his morals.
ОтветитьSomebody please let me know the name of background music 😍
ОтветитьAnd here I thought one should not mix their liqueurs 😅
Ответитьthanks for sharing, have a nice day👍😀 😊😀😀😀
ОтветитьCan I use any red wine for this?
ОтветитьWhy would they have to wait til the 27th to have their party?
Ответить"Some gin" (starts pouring carefully then upends the bottle).
ОтветитьMs. Crocombe: "Two shots of vodka" Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu Glu
ОтветитьHow to cook reindeers?
ОтветитьI'm so making this for Christmas... None for the scullery maids though lol 😂
ОтветитьIdk what Mr. Lincoln did to deserve all that shade! Good GRACIOUS! 🤣
ОтветитьSo when the servants had their christmas party "After boxing day, as is traditional", who ran the house while the servants were enjoying themselves?
Ответить"For this recipe, you will need: The key to the master's liquor cabinet."
ОтветитьSuggest replace water with bubbly water.
ОтветитьMrs Crocombe is the ancestor of the "two shots of vodka" girl
ОтветитьThe comment "Suitable for Mr. Lincoln but not my scullery maid" makes a lot more sense when you know scullery maids were anywhere between 12-16 or younger. Yeah don't give the 12-year-old gin
ОтветитьThis radiates the same energy as "two shots of vodka"
Ответитьlmao "Suitable for Mr. Lincoln, but not my scullery maid." 😆
ОтветитьLet’s be real what she meant to say was:
„Today i‘ll be making the christmas punch for the servants because other people can’t do their jobs around here.“😂
A little more wootah🤣
ОтветитьTwo shots of gin......
