Going from a amd ryzen 5 1600 to this intel i5 13600k. Paired with a new azus b660 motherboard with 32gb ddr4 ram 3200 and a rtx 3060ti I hope to get great gaming at budget cost.

Haha I love the ending, I've been rocking my Core i5-8600k and GTX 1080ti Seahawk GPU for over 6 years now going on 7 and it still does great at 1440p resolution. I just want to go Ultra wide and the new I5-13600k is the perfect upgrade for 3440x1440p Ultrawide gaming that'll hopefully last me another 6-7 years! 🍻great review

Good video, i'm building a pc with the 13600k and pair it with the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX you reviewed. I think going with the midrange stuff is a good option as this CPU offers good value and performance.

Sure it's not the fastest CPU, but building a midrange pc with components costs a lot less then it doesn't really matter about LGA socket cycle.
I mean they all ready talking about M.2 PCie 5.0 SSD's with massive heat sinks, and only a few high end Z790 expensive boards that support them so even if they did go another cycle on the socket some of the features on the board will be out dated anyway with the next generation of M.2 PCie SSD's. And right now M.2 PCie 4.0 SSD's 1TB are a good bargain and fit most of the midrange boards like the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX you reviewed.

I'm upgrading after 12 years lol. I still have my X58 v2 Motherboard, i7 960 clocked @ 4.0ghz, 20 GB ram, and a Bequiet 4 Pro air cooler. This is still my daily gaming PC and it's also my MAME ARCADE rig with a 2TB and 8TB HDD. Cinebench score is 3332.

Im picking up the i5 13600k with the 2023 Z790 Rog Strix motherboard, and the X Trio 3080 ti. DDR5 5600mhz Ram, and Corsair water cooler.

true that most reasonable people would upgrade 3 - 5 years. I recently upgraded my pc after 4 years and I'm seeing myself upgrading for the same amount of years or maybe more considering modern games nowadays required less specs from a PC compared to games that were made years ago and it will continue to do so.

If you could add Assetto Corsa Competizione Ai race to you CPU test suite it would be great, you can't run a replay as replays don't use player physics for Ai cars but in a race the CPU load is huge as Ai use the same physics as players.

I've just ordered an i5-13600KF build with 32 GB of DDR4 3600 memory and an ASUS Strix Z690 motherboard for my RTX 3080 as an upgrade from my current almost 10 year-old i7-4770K with 16 GB of DDR3 1600 memory. This is for 1440p gaming on a 27" G-SYNC display with games runing at maxed out settings with RT and DLSS, where available.

As such, I'm a bit out of touch with what constitutes a CPU core these days because the i5-13600KF has 14 cores, right, split between 6 performance and 8 efficiency cores as I understand it with the former offering 2 threads per core and the latter a single thread per core for a total of 20 threads. So why is this considered a 6 core CPU in the review? What do the 8 efficiency cores do if they are not considered to be CPU cores?

I looked at the i7-13700KF but for gaming at 1440p the i5-13600KF seemed to offer the best value for money by far, especially for the RTX 3080. I certainly will not be buying a 4090 or 4080, the latter of which costs £1,269 for the Founders Edition here in the UK with third-party models costing even more! For comparison, my RTX 3080 cost me 'just' (lol) £749 so the 4080 is almost double the price generation-on-generation which, in my opinion, is utterly absurd and not a pricing model I endorse or support personally.

Does the "6 core" chip matter when it out performs its competitors from this gen and also out performs even the last gens best chips? Guess that only matters if the competition is "How many cores does it have". Otherwise the p core e core design does exactly what it's supposed to.

For 300 bucks which you can get it for on sale right now, it's the best chip for its price range. It outperforms the last gens most expensive chips and it's only like a 3% downgrade from the i7 pretty much making the i7 obsolete. If you really want a workstation bump with more cores then mght as well go for the I9 at that point.

Im building another pc for the first time in like 7 years and i was ready to pull the trigger on an i7 11700k for 264 expecting 13th gen to be crazy pricey. For 36 dollars more the upgrade between those 2 is crazy. Glad I waited

thank you for this my brother, good to see some aussie representation when it comes to pc part videos and content !

Just a question to anyone that reads this..

I currently have an i5 8400 and it bottlenecks on everything so ive finally decided to build a new pc after 4 years lets gooo.
Big question is cpu, i was thinking the 13600k since its $500aud for the kf version. But the real question is, this or another cpu?
ill eventually get a 3080 (also want to try out ddr5) and I mainly game and produce music, but want to make more content down the line.

So many new cpus and other products since I last built a pc so im still trying to catch up.
any help would be great ty

Upgrading to i5-13600K from i5-4670K, so yeah, I don't care much for platform related arguments. Using 0 parts from the old build, and will likely use 0 parts from the coming build in the next one.

Im getting ready to build my first pc in the next couple of months, and I'm going to get the KF variant. Based on what I've seen, it's a beast that outperforms the 12700kf for about the same price, while having lower temps and being more energy efficient. Hopefully, the price falls in the next few months.

Limited to mATX boards due to the case I bought recently, I Either get an i7-12700K + MSI B660M Mag mortar d4 wifi or wait till next year january for a quality mATX B760 / H760 board to pair with an i5-13600K. The only board that I could currently use with an i5-13600K would be a Gigabyte Aorus B660 Pro AX DDR4 mATX which has the q-flash option to flash bios without the need to put CPU or RAM, but idk how reliable/dangerous this process could be it could brick the motherboard, and I dont live in the US, anything I want to send is EXTREMELY expensive rn due to global economy issues/recession so I want to minimize risks as much as posible, I think I'll have to go with the 12700K, still a Beast of a CPU and plenty for my needs <3

Bro..

I am on my ivy bridge i7 3770 CPU with my shitty ASUS P8B75CSM chipset with Samsung EVO 840 & 860 SSDs since January 2013 and this System even after runnining between 75 - 98 Degrees C in the last 4 months due to my old cranky Heat sink without a Fan and constant System Freezes and shutdowns, is still kicking ass like it's day 1 of 2013. Now I will be upping my system to i5 13600K and already my CPU is on the way.

But one thing is for sure, I am glad that I had my ivy bridge 3770 i7 being so loyal and durable all these years and finally I am willing to upgrade and yes I am a legend I know that. so Thank you.

And yes I will see the amazing benefits from moving to 13th gen from 3rd gen.
