Sony BRAVIA 9 Review – The Best QLED Ever Made?

Excellent video, if I could offer one critique though.... I don't recall you showing us the settings menu at any point. Someone less familiar with Sony TVs wouldn't know what to expect and would probably like to see that.

Last year, the 85-inch and 75-inch versions of the X95L model had different display panels, with the 85-inch version having a better panel. Therefore, if you bought the 65-inch or 75-inch X95L, you got a lower-quality panel compared to the 85-inch. How are things this year with the Bravia 9 (XR90)? Does the display quality vary depending on the display size? Are there any differences in sound or other features based on the display size?

Coming from a 55 inch LG CX.

I think you guys but too much of a big deal on viewing angles, most people dont watch their tvs from extreme viewing angles which would be a very strange way to watch TV.

So the UX is almost as good as the Bravia 9 according to her. It's on sale for $2,499.... I'm gonna order but please, clarification on this.

Way too expensive. Only for fanatics or nit picking TV enthusiasts. TCL or Hisense will do just fine for a 4th of this price.

WE LOOKED AT BOTH TV SONY Q OLED TV SIDE BY SIDE AT BEST BUY. THIS SONY BRAVIA 9 83 ‘’ AND THE SONY A95L AND THE A95L BLOWS THIS BRAVIA AWAY IN EVERY ASPECT. FOR YOUTO SAY THIS IS SONY BEST TV EVER MADE MAKES ME THINK YOU ARE DEFINITELY ON DRUGS .

PEOPLE SHE IS 100% WRONG AND BLIND , WE EVEN COMPARED AN 83’’ TO A 77’’AND THE 77 WAS MUCH BETTER IN OVER 10 DIFFERENT WAYS.
WANT THE BESTQ-OLED FROM SONY STICK WITH THE A95L. WHAT SONY NEED TO DO IS MAKE THE A95M IN 89’’ AND GIVE IT 6 HDMI OUTLETS

"...this TV is available in 65, 75 and 85 inch sizes..." Not if you live in the UK (or Europe), as Sony (inexplicably) aren't making the 65" available, so the countries with traditionally smaller homes and rooms, aren't able to have one.😖 I don't know anything about the Hisense, but (unlike the Bravia 9 etc.) the A95L doesn't have the option to change the width of the feet or height (apart from the 77") making it very difficult to accommodate.

Question: can you clarify if Sony Bravia 9 supports 120hz in Dolby? Also if it supports, are you locked in GAME mode? I have an a90J which in order to have 120hz it only supports in game mode (and no game mode)

Z9J was a non OLED flagship. It was sensational!

I know it's a tv review and I agree that an expensive tv should sound decent... However, pushing people to use sound bars over a (FAR) better solution like a pair of decent outboard speakers is so cringeworthy that I nearly turned off the video.

I wish the industry would stop trying to hard to push sound bars when they will never get close to the fidelity you get with a simple pair of outboard speakers even at the same price point.

Anyone spending cash on a tv like this should be a purchasing a decent pair of speakers at the very least and not a sound bar. Even the best sound bars pale in comparison to a proper speaker setup.

Im sorry but 2 HDMI 2.1 ports is unacceptable, Samsung has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports why cant Sony?

Why are we still calling things QLED as though its meant to compete against OLED... Unless your TV costs like $400 or less, everything is QLED.... People dont care about whether or not its QLED anymore, is about whether or not it Mini-LED

Coming from a 2017 Samsung 60" LCD, I only stream, sports and Blu-ray, NO GAMING and In the tropics with five 5' windows in living room. I also don't watch TV in the dark - minimum is with ambient light. My room size is 13' x 13 - no off angle issues expected. I will be buying the 85'' Sony Bravia 9. This choice is based on prioritising my "Use Case". Kudos to FOMO and Brian.

I don’t think the “QLED” description is the more suitable for the title…the main feature is “MiniLed” as its the best implementation so far…and being Sony’s 2024 Flagship implies that it has QuantumDot technology built in…there are almost no MiniLed TVs without QD color conversion layer…

If this tv had a Samsung or LG logo on it RTINGS would have given it a 9.9

GET THE S95D!

You geys keep saying you lose a HDMI 120hz port. But thats not always accurate. I.e. if you connect the EArc 120hz HDMI cable to a receiver capable of supporting HDMI 2.1 inputs, then you increase your HDMI 2.1 ports by 3-6 more ports. Now if the EArc port is NOT 2.1 120hz and u attached the cable to the capable receiver then that renders your receiver HDMI 2.1 inputs useless as you cant use any of the receiver HDMI for 120hz signals. So sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not good to have the Earc port and 120hz as the same, when there are only 2 HDMI 120hz on the TV.

Exaggeration of the off angle response of this TV which is absolutely the best non-OLED TV ever. It was stated that the brightness degrades at 45 degrees off, however all TVs brightness degrades at angle >45, it’s physics. And brightness degradation on a very bright TV is not really a negative. The real question should be about image color degradation or accuracy and that’s where this Sony excels. I saw the comparison of the A95L to the Bravia 9, and I saw the QD-OLED not able to represent well objects which were not bright separated by objects much brighter. The Bravia 9 however made the dimmer objects visible and more resolved. Also, the Bravia 9 is designed to work well with content mastered to 4000 nits peak brightness and since this review didn’t test that superlative capability, the review doesn’t really accurately support the value of this TV. And don’t argue that content isn’t out yet. Well yes, but the mastering capability was just recently upgraded.

There is no mention of the key upgrades. Here is the list of what she missed.

1) XR Backlight Master Drive

2) XR High Peak Luminance (both used in Mastering monitors)

3) New worlds smallest LED driver (small as a sesame seed)

4) Frame tweeters + Beam tweeters. And only TV with up firing speaker.

5) XR contrast Booster 30 (X95L had 20 and X90L has 10)

6) Playstation remote play features

7) Studio Calibrated modes.
RTINGS missed a lot of things on this review. Was it deliberate? We'll never know. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like QD-OLED A95L is a better choice.

PLEASE HELP! Bravia 9 85" or X90L 98".....This is really a tough one for me. The wow factor of the 98" will be amazing but it appears the Bravia 9 is the best TV ever produced.

Nice seeing LED still progressing. I still use OLED since I game, but love the longevity of LED. Hope to make the switch someday.

After the A95K and A95L this is kind of disappointing... If brightness isn't everything for you, this seems like a bad deal?
