I remember watching an IGN video of Sonic's unleashed daytime stages with the presenter discussing the length of an average stage. He goes "well 5 miles has got to be a breeze for Sonic right?"

That conversation is so vivid in my mind because it broke the immersion of the interview. Beforehand I was captivated by how good the stage looks. In my head I thought this was going to take the likes of Sonic 3 and transform it into 3D

Come to find out that this title was a CG reskin of Rush. What you would want is for the game to explore various camera angles and vintinge points that make adventuring as accessible as the genesis titles. The reality of the situation is that they locked most of what sonic could do behind skill trees and called that element a game

If I were a part of that panel, I would highlight the intracies of Sonic approaching the cityscape as a rodent would. Branching pathways and using instinct (bullet time) to make split decisions

Of course the end result was that they made Sonic a ballistic missle for that game. Then they made the excuse of "ah, well, you can't exactly make a feature length game out of that can you?"

And it very well sums up the last 3 decades of Sonic's downward spiral. You COULD make a feature length game out of sonic going fast if it meant playing with the physics alongside Sonic's ascent into heroism

If Sonic becomes a modern day Invincible with nothing mattering beyond sheer speed, it takes the element of him being a rodent out of the equation and him being almost eternal akin to kinetic forces

That's something I'm surprised even the films haven't leaned into. If Sonic is that fast, we ought to explore how that came into being and what it should mean for virtual space. The more you play with that, the more obstacles you can place in front of him to overcome with his unique traits

As long as it takes for Team Sonic to recognize this is as long as the house that built him stagnates into obscurity

Hey man, now that Sonic 3 is out and Sonic is kinda becoming Mainstream and "cool" again

This video’s conclusion rings true even more now! Since then we’ve gotten Frontiers: a game which while not perfect, definitely wasn’t the disaster it so easily could’ve been. Then came Superstars: a wonderfully charming return to 2D that exudes fun in every aspect. And we just got Sonic x Shadow Generations: a remaster of one of the best Sonic games ever that also includes a whole other game that became Shadow’s best game ever made! And that’s not even mentioning the movie sequels which just seem to keep getting better and better! Sonic is on top of the world right now! Let’s hope we can keep this momentum going!

It's Crazy to be 30 years old, and finally sort of hold my head high and say with gusto, "Yeah, I am a Sonic Fan." I have been for almost 25 years, along with Mega Man another blue dude who's sort of lost his way quite a few times over the years, but i still love them both dearly none the less. I didn't watch all the Sonic movies until this year, and Jeff Fowler clearly is a huge fan as well. And he loves the fans too. I love Sonic. And I love you too Super Eyepatch Wolf.

I remember being in high school it was hard time to be a Sonic fan. I was made fun of for it, teased for it, even called gay for it. However, thanks the movies and the new games, it's awesome if not AMAZING to be a Sonic fan after years of struggle and faded faith ❤❤❤

I remembered quitting being a Sonic fan for YEARS. I think I quit being a fan somewhere in the 2010s I think...? I'm not sure to be honest. I don't remember why I stopped being a fan exactly but I was probably thinking: "Well all the Sonic games are complete crap, screw this, I'm outta here! Sonic sucks, I'm sick of him!!" I thought that the characters and the stories in the Sonic games in the 2010s or well, the meta era as many of us call it, was supposed to be childish and stupid and I was like: "Well, I guess that they are supposed to be this way, oh well." A lot of crappy Sonic games came out in the meta era but, I think that Sonic forces is the worst Sonic game of all time. It was like Sonic just walked away in shame and embarrassment with his tail between his legs and his head hanging and then he hid and he wouldn't come out for years, it was like he was to embarrassed to ever show his face again, especially after the disaster that is Sonic forces had released since that game was complete sh*t. Sonic was probably to afraid to be laughed at after that Sonic forces sh*t show fiasco. I don't remember HOW or why I became a Sonic fan again but, let me tell you, I thought Sonic was dead. Like seriously, Sonic had been slaughtered and he was rotting away and I was like: "Well, truck, it's over... Sonic is dead! Oh no, this sucks!!" BUT Sonic came back to life again after almost drowning in hatred, mockery, and irony and I am very happy that Sonic came back. I have never stopped being a Sonic fan ever since I came back to Sonic and became a fan again. 💙
