A powerful film that has, indeed, withstood the test of time.

I watch this film at least once each year since it was made. I'm 92 and I still think as did y late husband that this film was one of the finest ever made. The story line has been changed somewhat, but it still tills.❤❤❤

It’s not to denigrate at all the bravery shown in the real battle by both sides but the reality of what lay behind the awards is interesting and really a piece of Victorian political cynicism. Everyone knows that, the day before, the British suffered a tremendous defeat at the hands of the same Zulus. That could not be kept from the British public but, a defeat by “natives with spears” would have been devastating for image and morale. So, the fight the next day at Rorkes Drift was seized upon by the establishment and given the full treatment of publicity and military awards so that it outshone the defeat. It worked, and works to this day because the victory is so much better known than the defeat.

England had no right to interfere with the Zulu kingdom. For hundreds of years, England has tried to impose their will on different nations of the world. The word empire is synonymous with England.

The Victoria Cross exhibit is on the top floor of the Imperial War Museum in London. I looked up the citations of every one of these men and some others I had written down. It's incomprehensible what those men did to earn those citations.

It is entirely a sad pathetic thing that Full Metal Jacket ranks as a "better" war movie than this masterpiece of a film. It is one of the finest war movies ever made, and rightly so.

For those who don't know the history, you'd think they went up against one of the foremost armies of the time. Maybe Russia or Morocco or Turkey. But no, the Brits had done battle with the Zulu who didn't have firearms but rather skin shields and spears. And the Brits were made to look like this. Makes you respect the Zulu warriors, no?

James Langley Dalton was the comissariot who removes his cap as the casualty is carried in. He was the true hero. In reality, Bromhead and Chard, were dithering and he organised the defence and the building of the meally bag redoubt. He was also commended for the deadliness of his shooting. I guess he wasn't glamorous enough for the script writers.

no one has still answered my question. who narrated "Ten Commandments" onoy one answer and it was incorrect. Cecil D"Mille was sort of the Alfred Hitchcock of his day and always managed to insert himself into every one of this movies but also he did not narrate Ten Commandments. The answer as to who did the narration will astound most
people.

Sad to say this movie depiction of bloodthirst and savagery received a U certification upon release, whereas 'Carry On Captain,' a comedy, received an A certification.

Apparently the daughter of Henry Hook was invited to the premier of Zulu and walked out in disgust at the way her father had been portrayed in the movie, in the movie he is portrayed as a malingering ill-disciplined drunkard, in real life he was tee-total and considered an exemplary soldier, he was also, I believe, a lay-preacher.
