Fantastic film. I am proud to be British.
ОтветитьEveryone at Rourkes Drift should have been awarded the VC
ОтветитьFor once the British were the under dogs......
Im sure they showed the same empathy and respect the Zulus showed here as to the millions they slaughtered, including Ireland, over the centuries
The conversation that precedes this scene always sticks with me between Bromhead and Charles when Bromhead admits he feels no glory, only shame.
So true of every war ever fought
Some movies should never be remade, they're too damn good! Another is Cool Hand Luke!
ОтветитьApparently the daughter of Henry Hook was invited to the premier of Zulu and walked out in disgust at the way her father had been portrayed in the movie, in the movie he is portrayed as a malingering ill-disciplined drunkard, in real life he was tee-total and considered an exemplary soldier, he was also, I believe, a lay-preacher.
ОтветитьBro narrating like he’s still in the inner party
ОтветитьColonialism was wrong, and all wars that are not 100% necessary are wrong. At least the film was respectful of the Zulu warriors whose land was occupied by the British.
ОтветитьI wonder why the 'colour sargent', get a VC ?
ОтветитьThe name of the first Zulu shot was Will Michael Cane cane made sure the fired at him first 👍🏴
ОтветитьPte Hooks family sued the film company he was actually and exemplary soldier
Ответить"I think the Zulu Warriors deserve some medals also ...So Africa part of the Commonwealth ....last i checked ....
Ответить...John Rouse Meriott Chard.... officer commanding, Rorkes Drift...
ОтветитьIt was actually Commissary Dalton who was the brains behind the defence of Rorke's Drift.
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьThey should have all received the VC for defending Rorkes Drift
Ответитьhad a grandfather from wales..no suprise those old fellows kicked ass
ОтветитьSad to say this movie depiction of bloodthirst and savagery received a U certification upon release, whereas 'Carry On Captain,' a comedy, received an A certification.
Ответитьno one has still answered my question. who narrated "Ten Commandments" onoy one answer and it was incorrect. Cecil D"Mille was sort of the Alfred Hitchcock of his day and always managed to insert himself into every one of this movies but also he did not narrate Ten Commandments. The answer as to who did the narration will astound most
people.
And Richard Burton has the small part of narration at the end of the film.
ОтветитьHook and Stanley Baker
.'hats off!'
sur un site français c'est mieux de parler en français.
ОтветитьJames Langley Dalton was the comissariot who removes his cap as the casualty is carried in. He was the true hero. In reality, Bromhead and Chard, were dithering and he organised the defence and the building of the meally bag redoubt. He was also commended for the deadliness of his shooting. I guess he wasn't glamorous enough for the script writers.
ОтветитьThus happy 60th to the film and a special 60th to the late Stanley Baker whom would be 96 this year as he was a year of the 🐉 and 1964 and 2024 is also 🐉 year!!!😊
ОтветитьNobody cares about Britt casulties, you shouldnt have gone there in the first damn place!!
ОтветитьSir Richard Burton was Welsh ..no wonder he jumped at the chance to narrate ..WELL DONE !! SIR RICHARD !!!🌍🇬🇧
ОтветитьFor those who don't know the history, you'd think they went up against one of the foremost armies of the time. Maybe Russia or Morocco or Turkey. But no, the Brits had done battle with the Zulu who didn't have firearms but rather skin shields and spears. And the Brits were made to look like this. Makes you respect the Zulu warriors, no?
ОтветитьOutstanding movie. Watch the whole thing!!!!
Ответить"I came here to build a bridge." As Napolean observed; You may find a Field Marshalls baton in a Private's backpack.
ОтветитьA perfect ending to a perfect film
ОтветитьIt is entirely a sad pathetic thing that Full Metal Jacket ranks as a "better" war movie than this masterpiece of a film. It is one of the finest war movies ever made, and rightly so.
ОтветитьBrits subverting another nation. Like usual.
ОтветитьThe Victoria Cross exhibit is on the top floor of the Imperial War Museum in London. I looked up the citations of every one of these men and some others I had written down. It's incomprehensible what those men did to earn those citations.
ОтветитьEngland had no right to interfere with the Zulu kingdom. For hundreds of years, England has tried to impose their will on different nations of the world. The word empire is synonymous with England.
ОтветитьIt’s not to denigrate at all the bravery shown in the real battle by both sides but the reality of what lay behind the awards is interesting and really a piece of Victorian political cynicism. Everyone knows that, the day before, the British suffered a tremendous defeat at the hands of the same Zulus. That could not be kept from the British public but, a defeat by “natives with spears” would have been devastating for image and morale. So, the fight the next day at Rorkes Drift was seized upon by the establishment and given the full treatment of publicity and military awards so that it outshone the defeat. It worked, and works to this day because the victory is so much better known than the defeat.
ОтветитьStanley Baker was a hell of an actor. Would have made a great 007
ОтветитьIt is said that of one of the Defending soldiers his hair tuned white a few days after the battle, from shear fright
ОтветитьGreat movie, and it failed on some points but all and all very correct to the story
ОтветитьUnfortunately nothing to do with historical fact
ОтветитьI never tire of watching this film ❤
ОтветитьThere WERE NOT the South Wales Borderers at that time...
ОтветитьThe sergeant major was everywhere and didn't get the VC.
ОтветитьOne of my very favourite movies.
ОтветитьRIP Denys Graham the actor who played Robert Jones recently passed at age 98.
ОтветитьThis movie says a lot about all of us black and white.... and thank you Zulus for saluting us...
We don't deserve it....WE SALUTE YOU..................
I watch this film at least once each year since it was made. I'm 92 and I still think as did y late husband that this film was one of the finest ever made. The story line has been changed somewhat, but it still tills.❤❤❤
ОтветитьWOW
Ответитьzulu could have easily wiped them out
ОтветитьA powerful film that has, indeed, withstood the test of time.
Aloha 🙏🏼🇬🇧🇿🇦🙏🏼
