"We've never lost an American in space..." Note this distinction. Yes, we've lost like 3 crews since we started exploring outside Earth's atmosphere, but it was always on the way up or re-entering the atmosphere.

All of the actors except for Ed Harris look like men from the 90s who were made up (albeit, well) to look like they were from the late 60s/early 70s. He looks like a man who was living in that time and was plucked out of it to participate in this movie

There is no such thing as: "there are no colored bathrooms around for me to use, I have to run to the other building". Just men solving issues!

Years later, I see something funny in this part of the movie. If batteries are important because the ship needs power, shouldn't they take a dynamo into space? Dynamo is not space equipment, but it could save this mission.

People forget that Gene Kranz was 39 when he flight director in this Apollo 13 mission. He was flight director for Apollo 11 at 36. Many of these guys were in their late 20's and 30's out there.. This was all teamwork that got these astronauts back.

Powered so far down all they really had was a fan to circulate the air into the purifiers, and a radio to communicate with Huston. That's it.
After Apollo 13 a third oxygen tank was installed in the service module on the opposite side. So if anything like this were to happen again it wouldn't be as dicey. If the explosion had happened in Lunar orbit it would have been far more challenging. Or if it were after the Lunar Module had landed, then the situation would have turned fatal. Fortunately every mission following was a success, and an additional 8 astronauts made their mark on the Moon.
