After a 5 month break, I'm back on it! New money-making videos coming in Jan 2023! 😍
ОтветитьYour eyes significant that you've work alot yesterday night😂
ОтветитьThe only well-informed video ever on the internet. Truth people! Truth! Thank you Jon. 🙌
Ответитьdidnt AI take over this type of work completely now haha unlucky right?!
ОтветитьMake good money? Stock market or become a gigilo?
ОтветитьI remember used to doing it for some songs. I think my first subtitle was Demi lovato song. Basically I wrote a whole ass subtitle for 5 min song in a text file and put it to the video lmao.
ОтветитьNot a human job.. Especially with energy cost
ОтветитьREV sucks. I produced a high quality assignment and then the next day they said my account was deactivated and to not message them to ask why. They don't even tell you why! XD Terrible management, terrible service.
Ответитьsheesh.
ОтветитьYou keep at it soon you'll be able to afford to die in poverty. It's a great job! Bidenomics working strong.
ОтветитьYou might as well flip burgers for a living than doing this transcription nonsense.
ОтветитьIt hurts my ears to hear the direction our language is going in. I can’t even imagine trying to transcribe dozens of “and I was like and they were like “. Not to mention the new dialect of hip hop
ОтветитьI applied to Rev for transcription back in mid-June.
They gave me a 4-12 week wait.
It's now the end of August.
That timeframe has now passed.
They never got back to me.
Never even told me that I didn't get hired.
Seeing this video, I think I dodged a bullet.
...and then you realise that most teachers in private schools in India are paid less than that.
ОтветитьI wonder if people have considered using AI to do this job?
Ответитьo
ОтветитьWhen it comes to job options, the trades industry is booming because most people don't know how or don't want to do this kind of work. Electricians and plumbers make a ton of money because the amount of people who do this is so small. These work from home jobs aren't nearly as good as leaving the house and fixing someone's outlets. Just sayin.
ОтветитьPeople who asked for this transcription work sometimes fail to understand how bad their enunciation and accents are! They mumble, have weird speech patterns, their accents practically incomprehensible. They overestimated how well they spoke and they expect the captioners to just go along as if the captioners can read their minds.
ОтветитьGreat video bro, you saved me from wasting time with this website. A new subscriber over here. Cheers!
ОтветитьThank you for the honesty. Much appreciated.
ОтветитьMinimum wage in the UK is $11? That’s a lot
ОтветитьThat much is a prestige pay in my country
ОтветитьI did Rev transcription while I was in-between jobs and needed the income, but it pays terrible. The minimum pay was 30 cents a minute when I started, so you'd expect ~$18/hr. Nope. It takes about 3-5x the length of the file to complete it. With really good audio quality, I finished a 30 minute file in an hour ONCE. You're working dozens of hours and completely draining yourself for little pay. The higher paying files have more crosstalk and inaudibles making them take much longer to complete... Plus, you want a good grade on projects to keep your metrics high so those harder files weren't even worth the risk to me. If there was better audio quality and more files available, this would be an okay work from home side hustle to do on spare time.
I was never accepted for captioning, but it should definitely pay more when you have to type the audio, sync the audio, and rewatch to catch any mistakes. You're down to a third of the pay without even adding in any other factors!
I have an idea -
What if instead of YOU listening and typing, you use the voice recorder tool on Google docs and connect the rev video to the doc via a microphone? Maybe then you could leave it running in the background for the whole day on a secondary device and come back every once in a while to just copy paste the captions that Google docs wrote into rev and place the captions with the video timestamps? If you try do this for some big videos maybe you can scrape the $20-$30 mark per day?Correct me if I am wrong.
better than slavery
ОтветитьReally good video. Cannot believe they are allowed to operate for such low pay.
ОтветитьTranscriptionist don't only use one place, it's multiple place for the best work that is why...
Ответить"Up to" is one of the most evil phrases in the English language.
Ответитьin my country minimum wage is 0.56 dollars an hour, which makes it 4.5 dollars a day! So, this job is a ticket to the good life here haha
ОтветитьWhat I do NOT see in ANY of these replies is your action WPM (words per minute) before you began this work(!). Few people type 150 WPM! Most people type 30-40 wpm. How fast do you type, please? Why didn’t you supplement AI?
ОтветитьThat's why I quit fansubbing. The longest I subbed the series was a year, and that's with a friend, so we held each other accountable, but in the end we both got burned out. Subbing/captioning is a thankless, tedious, long and boring job. It just sucks your time and everything that's enjoyable about the source material.
ОтветитьYou're lucky you were actually able to do any work. I recently applied for transcribeme and you need to pass an entrance exam and the exam is closed and they don't have a set reopen date.
Ответитьuseless video
ОтветитьYou just got paid more than a minimum wage here in Lebanon. might actually consider doing this lol
ОтветитьThanks for this. I'm between jobs and have been looking for some work to pay the bills. This site was on my radar...and you just saved me a lot of time.
ОтветитьAnd the facts that us Roblox kids would be fine with $1 an hour is just sad :(
Ответитьi worked as a transcriptionist irl in an office for min wage and you are correct, it was not worth it lmao! i quit after one day the buses werent running so i had to uber to work, and the amount i made at work was the same as i had to spend on the ubers there and back 🙃
ОтветитьThis video doesn't have captions.
ОтветитьIt only makes sense when 1 USD equal to many of your local currency but as far as I know they are not recruiting from every country :D
ОтветитьLet professionals do this job and the pros are in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Ответитьthis was actually my first real job lol. i started when i was 13 and did it for about 8 months. ABSOLUTE hell. thanks for reminding me about the horrors of internet jobs.
ОтветитьMy grandmother did this, all day long she would type as if it were her full time job. Some days she would only make about $20 total from a full "shift" from 8am to 7pm.
ОтветитьIs it allowing AI tools for this job ?
ОтветитьYou're slow as a snail though. It took you 8 hours to transcribe 15 minutes. That's 30 times as long. Professionals do it in about 4 times the audio length. Although on Rev, that would still be about $8 per hour so they should at least double their rate. Maybe triple, since they pay 50 cents per minute of audio while professionals get paid $1.50 per minute of audio.
ОтветитьThese are exactly the details I was searching for. Thanks for suffering through it!
