Sony a6000 Eye Autofocus Tutorial! (2019)

What else do you guys want to learn about the a6000?!

A while back, I used my friends A6000 to take pictures for a party. I noticed that every picture taken had a close up of every couple even when the picture was take like 10 feet away?. For example a picture of the couple will be taken, but the next same picture will include a close up of them. Are you familiar with this set up?. I can not seem to find any information regarding this set up. Thank you this video really help.

For info: It also works in DMF focus mode, the mode that also can show focus peaking.

Do you press both at same time?

Does it have to be a version beSides version 1

Did not work This operation are setting not available as follow. Focus mode containers, autofocus.

Eye AF also seems to not work with all lenses. It's unavailable for both my Viltrox 85mm F1.8 and the Sony 16-50mm Kit Lens.

Does this work for video foo?

Love the video! I'm currently running a Sony A6000 and am curious to know what lens you recommend to have continuous auto focus with video on an A Mount? My main use is for live streaming. Right now I have a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art DC HSM A-Mount lens and at the beginning, allowed me to change my AF mode, now it says the lens isn't compatible? Thanks!

I’m having major issues with the a6000 aoto focus for video. I have a studio setup, but with multiple lenses, the focus keeps pulsing / hunting. Just a quick pulse, keeps happening. Area is set to wide, af-c is on, fps 25 with 1/50 and locked iso at 200. Any idea on what could be the problem?

Fantastic video. I bought this at end of market. But it was smart as this is a great camera. Not being a professional this is more than adequate for home personal use.

It’s easy for some people to comment, I’m not one of them. The Sony a6000 is the first camera I perches after giving the Salvation Army my Nikon f3’s with lenses. In 1987, I converted my two car garage from a dark room to a home studio to house the photography I was able to salvage of the 1970’s to the 1980’s. I don’t think I’m going to upgrade from the 6000 if I can’t use my photography skills, to overcome the a6000s, short coming, I will go to another pastime. There is recreational sport Fencing. I can coach as Coach GerryDuran.

Just doesn't work for me; set up the Focus mode and Focus Area as you said...won't work in AF-S. Don't hear anything either!!

Wish this was actually baked into the autofocus settings rather than having to do it manually - surely the professor was good enough if it's included using this roundabout method..

I’m totally new to photography and bought a second hand a6000 for about $400. Have had the camera for a month or so and have weaned myself off auto mode. Your videos are helping me so much. Please keep making a6000 videos.

When it comes to gear I've never been an early adopter and never wanted to pay to be a beta tester. On the other hand, I didn't want to get too far behind advances in technology. I'm also a Canon DSLR shooter and was disappointed in their initial mirrorless offerings. As luck would have it a friend gave me a good deal on a6000 with w/ 16-50 zoom lens. I updated firmware for faster start-up and have been watching videos to learn how to set it up. Thanks to you I now have eye focus. I know that by using this camera I can begin to learn what features I'll want in my next mirrorless camera. Some things I don't like about the a6000 is the proprietary hot shoe. I can't use any of my current flash units or my pocket wizards. There is no microphone jack or headphone jack, no eye focus in continuous shooting. The video button is tiny but I can use a custom button. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of things to like about the camera. Sounds like I'd be happier with a6100 or higher. Would be wonderful if continuous eye AF could be added in firmware but I'll bet Sony would rather I buy a new camera. All in all the a6000 is a good springboard to mirrorless shooting and thanks for videos on its use.
