Thank you for this eye opening video Julian. In fact I signed up with RedBubble a few days ago and uploaded a design yesterday but regrettably neither do I see my shop nor my product (I uploaded only one for trial). I think this is it then, for RedBubble and me.

Don't bother with Redbubble. I placed around 300 designs over a few weeks, no problems with any of my work, then I get an email telling me my account has been suspended. No reason whatsoever given.

I agree 100%. I was making $700 a month. My check last month was $32. Unbelievable. Their greed is going to kill their company.

I earned $41 this month, Redbubble deducted over $27 for their fees, I'm left with a bit over $13 and no payment this month due to their $20 minimum payoff limit. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it - why are the fees so hight that they literally leave me with pennies.

They have fallen from 24 million to 20 million in just ten months, and this trend is continuing. 4-5 years ago you could still make decent money with them. But then the founder announced that he was retiring and leaving the business to his partner. And that was the beginning of the RB decline and it seems it will not stop until they hit bottom!

They don't have any respect for artists, I was with them around 5 years, built up around 400 followers and had just started getting some decent sales when they suspended me, I never copied or made any copywrited artwork, I believe the suspension was because of a purge where thousands of artists were just thrown away to save on server costs.

Rather than deleting all that hard work, I just configured all my items to have a 200% mark-up. Should RB ever (re)discover their brains, I can reconfigure it all back again. If not, so what - strangely enough, I still get sales at 200% - I don't know why.

Wait. I get walking away from a store and leaving it open. Did you really CLOSE your account and cut off any money that would have come from leaving it open? If the designs are up why not just take whatever money comes from it.

Small clarification - If you're making high quality designs and followed their guidelines, your account WILL NOT be in a Standard tier, and you can request a review to change your tier too

Thanks a lot Julian. I've also had lots of doubts about Redbubble, but now I've just closed my new account. Definitely not going to upload my stuff to just a creedy platform, not to mention wasting time and energy to drive traffic to them.

On the contrary, I've heard from many established, selling accounts who were premium and then demoted out of the blue, after being assured such a thing was 'highly unlikely'.
Happened to my 5 year old account (65 followers, 6.63k favorites, 4k individual sales) - demoted just before Xmas, meaning RB helped themselves to a third of my Xmas earnings.
Now with the fees increase, I'm looking at losing possibly up to half of my revenue in 'account fees'.

Significantly, they mentioned the following in their 1st quarter 2024 investors' report;

The recent delivery of initiatives drove a significant uptick in gross profit. This included the introduction of artist account tiers on both marketplaces..

I take that as the reason for these fees increase - they're bilking artists' out of their earnings in order to help pad the balance sheet for shareholders and investors. As far as I can see, this has come about mostly due to incompetent management and poor planning these last few years.

Used to make good sales on RB for the last couple years... now they just started to go absolutely downhill and turning more and more into a piece of sh*t! 🤬
The real reason around it, is that the website got filled up with unskilled, untalented, low-scam idiots that keep inundating the platform with crappy designs, copyrighted material and tag-spamming. Most of them come from sh*thole countries that I'm not even gonna mention... but you probably have an idea.
As if that wasn't already a problem, the f*cking staff didn't do absolutely anything good to prevent this, and instead they are punishing LEGIT SELLERS in a lot of shitty ways. Accounts that are legit and sell well are getting their designs hidden from the search engine (new uploads as well), not indexing in Google search anymore and there are also cases of Premium accounts being DOWNGRADED to standard in the exact moment they start to make good sales, which definitely shows that the company is LYING and ROBBING the artists! You must be aware of any ''strange changes'' in your shop sales, since these incompetent thiefs are doing what I just mentioned in the BACKGROUND without letting you know anything! 🤬
These greedy sh*theads are doing their ''best'' to hold you from succeed or at least they wanna make most artists remain in the miserable SIDE-HUSTLE stage!

Ya, I closed my RedBubble account last May due to the new policies. I was pretty new on the site, so when they passed the new policies of penalizing people for not selling enough, I was worried about selling the next product as I was going to get almost nothing for the sale so quickly closed my account and haven't looked back or regretted my decision for one moment. I just couldn't trust them so I was out. Even the time I spent on creating all of my designs, I never really felt was a waste of time as I considered it practice for learning a new skill, in design as RedBubble was the first Print On Demand platform I had used.
