This exact one was built in 1959 the first one was.
They built these from 1957-1965.
And more than 100 of these are in service of course the usaf takes good care of them and maintenance these beautiful aircraft.
Being a retired KC135 Crew Chief. I miss that sound and power these engine give off. When your are inside during takeoff it such a feeling. sitting in the instructor seat you feel being pushed back into the seat is great, sitting in the jump seat, leaning to the side it such a rush. Working on them is the most rewarding feeling, when you know have good working plane. I miss working and being around them. I give anything to be back on them again.
ОтветитьEngine on this aircraft: CFM56-2
ОтветитьThat's cool, but not loud. KC-135A burning water on take off, THAT'S loud!
ОтветитьI've never heard a loud jet that immediately gets quieter the instant it goes right past you. And no, don't tell me that's just the Doppler effect
ОтветитьNothing loud about that at all. You want loud? Try the same airframe with four J57s at full water injection.
ОтветитьSecond one was a very heavy girl, full of gas, took almost the whole runway distance before rotating <3
ОтветитьI work on these and let me tell ya, the sound these engines make never gets old
ОтветитьPolska pozdrawia!!;p 🇵🇱
ОтветитьThis plane is Airbus a340
ОтветитьNot as much fun and excitement (or LOUD) as the original engines with water injection. Loved those MITOs.
ОтветитьBeautiful planes. Thank you for posting.
ОтветитьThat thing looks heavy
ОтветитьNeeds a little water injection.
ОтветитьThese planes were built before the pilots who fly them today were even born. The old boeing 707 was built well and the military picked them up and upgraded engines and electronics and they continue to fly. They still have a sextant in the cockpit ceiling for nostalgia.
ОтветитьThose engines are absolutely massive
ОтветитьThey're not loud at all compared to how they were with the old engines.
ОтветитьDragonscreamin' lol
ОтветитьA beautiful aircraft
ОтветитьYou don't know the meaning of screaming till you hear an "A" model KC-135 goes barreling down the runway. Nothing but lots of noise and smoke.
ОтветитьLook fantastic!
Ответить2 KC135 Takeoffs?!
ОтветитьThey were real screamers when they had original J57 engines. Black smoke billowed, especially during water injected takeoffs!
ОтветитьI’ve worked on these beauties for the past 5 years and they are the best plane ever. Gonna miss them
ОтветитьThose things are totally crazy imo 👀
ОтветитьBoeing could in theory just use this and attach 2 turbofans on it and boom you got urself a long haul 737 xD
ОтветитьSorry can't hear all that "screaming" power. (I spent most of my career on the B1-B.) All the same turning all that JP-8 into the sound freedom is awesome even if it is a gentle purr.
ОтветитьGreat sound is wonderful, and sooo geil😁😁😉😉😉🥰🥰
ОтветитьSwept-wing ground-hugger...
ОтветитьCfm 56?
ОтветитьI'm an old tanker guy... what do y'all think is original on the tankers today?
ОтветитьJust happened across this... Awesome vid! Was actually one of the aircrew on 8880 that morning. Just a short stay that time, but loved the visit in Australia!!!
ОтветитьWhe I worked on them they had J-57 with water injection, the turbofans were a logical choice 👍
ОтветитьThats not loud at all and the CFM 56's it now has have been derated to 75% power. Now compared to when the A/C had the JT3's its really quiet.
ОтветитьSome pretty planes there. Especially the lead plane with its nose/cockpit window paint treatment.
ОтветитьAIR TANKER!
ОтветитьWish they'd made a 707 BBJ with these engines and fuel capacity. 17000+ km of range... now that's VIP traveling. Would have cannibalised a few government SP sales though.
ОтветитьThese are awesome you want loud. Dig up some old tanker clips with J 57 an water injection. They where loud
ОтветитьThose are the same engines on the DC8 with the bigger engines on them
ОтветитьOuch, that’s loud!!😖
ОтветитьSounds better than any current airliner!
Not even close.
Sounds like an old series DC 8 52
Everybody thinks they're based on the 707, but actually they are based on the unrelealized 717! The 17 was a slightly bigger 07 prototype, and it fit the military specs slightly better than the 07. It's been over 35 years since I read about this, but it seems like the 17 had wings better suited to later modifications, and Boeing just kept it in their pocket for this aircraft. Never a civilian version!
ОтветитьBeauties!!!!
Ответитьjust saw this passing over my house in England newcastle
ОтветитьLove the scream of those turbo fans. Beautiful piece of history. One of the greatest planes ever built for sure.
ОтветитьHey, my former Squadron, Hi ANG, the KC-135R-still flying strong.
ОтветитьJesus. That was loud. This is enough to SCARE CHINA.
ОтветитьI flew on one of these ( well at least tried to ) in the 1980s, before they re-engined the things. We never got off the ground. Both takeoff attempts were aborts - bad generator... This R ate up more runway than I would have expected?
ОтветитьCompared to the A model this sounds like a window fan.
ОтветитьYou want to hear loud, one of these landed over my snow blower about 2:00 am on the overrun at Fairchild AFB in 1969. It was super foggy and the tower operator forgot we were out there. I heard a noise getting louder and louder but didn't have a clue what was happening until the landing lights came on. I could only sit and watch it go over at that point. Surprisingly, it was very quiet behind the engines, that was, until my shotgun driver woke up!
