This absolutely delightful movie, with an amazing cast and a great soundtrack, didn't even have an Oscar nomination.... IT'S ABSURD.

I like to imagine the "small print" in Scrubits is what gave him the idea to do the same in his factory tour

also bit more of a stretch is them drinking the gin and her saying "you can run cars on that" is what gave him the idea to make the wonka mobile

I’m from London Camden Town and I bumped into Keegan Michael-key and he was so sweet we was talking for about half an hour he was saying that he is on set as the police officer warden for the Wonka movie this was about a year ago and it’s so strange because I work on the one cassette when I did as I work for the make up department and he was so sweet he said do you wanna take a photo he even said you wanna go grab a coffee what a true gentleman I’m not a fan of the movie I’ve got to say because it will never be the original but
We grow as humans and we want new things so the originals will always be re-done

You know I'll be honest I wasn't really expecting much but I think I will go watch this because I actually like the mannerisms of iTmothee Chalamet portraying Willy Wonka, and I love the Roald Dahl book a lot so it was very nice seeing the set design just be so well detailed it was like stepping into what I think the world would actually look like. I think the musical bit is a bit cheesy but I do honestly love musicals and broadway shows and I think it's takes an stellar amount of work from a ton of dedicated people and I think that's worth watching the movie for. If you're needing a movie to go see and escape a little bit and just enjoy the movie instead of being critical for it I think it could well received. I am willing to give it a chance why not, it might be a kids history on what they would imagine Willy Wonka and who knows what they will create in the future that's cool to think about it.

You can feel the passion of the director behind the camera. Wonka is the first movie in a long time to give me Mary Poppins/Bedknobs and broomsticks vibes and that is saying a lot!
My only criticism would be that Willy comes off a bit too soft, even for a younger version of the character I would've expected a bit more of an edge... but during an interview the director candidly admitted he doesn’t have the same dark sense of humor that Dahl had and you know what? I respect that, his heart was clearly in the right place when he wrote the story, he respected the source material but also remained truthful to his kinder nature. This is Paul King's take on Wonka and it's growing on me 😊

After seven years of life upon the ocean
It is time to bid the seven seas farewell
And the city I've pinned seven years of hopes on
Lies just over the horizon, I can hear the harbour bell
Land, ahoy
Got a tattered overcoat and battered suitcase
Got a pair of leaky boots upon my feet
Gotta drag myself up by my one good bootlace
Gotta work my rotten socks off if I want to make ends meet
I've poured everything I've got into my chocolate
Now, it's time to show the world my recipes
I've got twelve silver sovereigns in my pocket
And a hatful of dreams
There's a famous restaurant on every street here
There's Brandino's and the Bar Parisienne (restaurant map, sir?)
(Thank you)
Got a little map to tell me where to eat here
Had a dozen silver sovereigns, now I'm somehow down to ten
Want the finest produce? This is where they stock it (that's three sovereigns, mate)
Though, the prices are suspiciously extreme (break my pumpkin, you pay for it)
I've got five, six, seven
Six silver sovereigns in my pocket
And a hatful of dreams
No, thank you
(Cologne?) No, leave me alone
At last, the Galéries Gourmet
I knew that we'd see it one day
It's everything you said, Mama
And oh, so much more
Each way that you turn, another famous chocolate store
Here's my destiny, I just need to unlock it
Will I crash and burn or go up like a rocket?
I got nothing to offer but my chocolate
And a hatful of dreams
In this city, anyone can be successful
If they've talent and work hard, or so they say
But they didn't mention it would be so stressful
Just to make a dozen silver sovereigns last more than a day
Of course, here, take all you need
(Thank you)
I've got one silver sovereign in my pocket
And a hatful of dreams

This movie was absolute GARBAGE. The Hollywood autotune strikes again! Not to mention the obviously AI generated songs, and set designs. Hideous by all means. Found myself laughing AT chalamet instead of with him for basically the whole film

Timothy is so good, and as good as he is, his singing voice needed to be fattened up. There were so many missed vocal opportunities that he acted, moved, and danced in a wonderful fantasy movie musical way, and yet his singing voice was so paper thin. It is a shame he either did not study or learn very late in the process he would be singing, because he could have turned a wonderful performance in a wonderfully uninhibuted performance. I enjoyed the number very much, but wished he would have developed his singing voice just a little bit more. The vocality of the song is whimsical but needed some moments of vocal musicality.

I love this new Willy wonka so much when he sings. Only don’t know why the kids Charlie bucket, Mike teevee, Augustus gloop, Veruca salt, violent Beauregard weren’t in this movie. Only it tells about wonka’s past before he made the chocolate factory and send the 5 golden tickets.
