Correction: Aluminum Duranautics and Jons are unique to North america. Lowe, Marathon, and others still make them. Plastic boats ate for brackish or full salt, and are popular in Asia. Faced with salt water, i'd prefer to make a dugout outrigger and scoot it with a Chinese 4 cycle outboard. 53 CC is fine.
ОтветитьI have a 10’ pond prowler off marketplace, almost brand new, and I love it. My brother and I can fish in it, it’s tight, but it’s not a problem. I’m 6’2”, 215 and he is 6’4” and close to the same. We take a total of 6-7 rods and do well. I have a 45lb trolling motor that gets us around. I can fish it on small lakes and medium size also. We can’t cover a lot of water but it is extremely stable. I have a used jet ski trailer for it and it fits perfectly in my one car garage. It is the optimal size for my situation.
Ответитьlame video. Really pointless.
ОтветитьThey could do way better with the features on those plastic molded boats
ОтветитьIf you hang your aluminum boat from the ceiling and scrub/ touch it up, it will stay new forever. Storing your boat outside is just dumb.
ОтветитьI talked the pelican intruder, 12 foot flat bottom and a Mercury 3.5hp four stroke.
Not fast at all but very fun for a fishing weekend 😅
Last year I bought an old 14 ft vhull with a 55 minnkota a 1983 4.5 horse Johnson for 900 bucks. I have to tell you it was rough. 1st time I put it in the water I was ready to mark all the leaks. There was only 1 and that was above the waterline but leaked a bit when waves hit the side.
ОтветитьWhy is everything so expensive nowadays
ОтветитьYou can buy a cheap used boat and make it nice with some paint and new seats
ОтветитьIn your opinion would you take the sun dolphin 12 ft jon boat style or would take the bass raider/quest angler 10 ft fishing boat for light lake/pond fishing?
Ответитьalot of the used boats are over priced here unless you want to go through the hassle of not having titles to register it. it’s was a pain in the butt. BMV kept giving me issues so i got rid of it and bought a 12’ sundolphin. it has potential to make it a very nice boat for our small lakes
ОтветитьSeconding the "slightly bigger boat" opinion here. My mom and I are both a bit on the 'hefty' side, and we bought a small 8 foot or so rowboat a long time ago thinking it would be okay. It immediately tried to sink when we got in it, and I had to jump out into the lake so it didn't. She rowed around a bit after while I waited on shore, soaking wet, and we haven't used it since 😂😢
ОтветитьThat Sun Dolphin isn't a "much better" anything. Trust me.
ОтветитьNew boat prices are crazy. I just wonder who would fork out 4K to get such a simple boat.
ОтветитьAny reconditions for somebody looking for a boat/kayak/canoe that would be easy to travel with as I do not own a truck or trailer ?
ОтветитьDo you think I could take that bass pro plastic one into saltwater in Florida
ОтветитьThose who do not want to spend a fortune but just want to get on the water should consider inflatables like the Intex Excursion 5 or the Mariner series. The Excursions can be had online for as low as $125 and the Mariners $300-$400. I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and have been on and around boats all my life. Growing up we owned Chris Craft Commanders (Various)as well as runabouts, jon boats etc. Since I have owned everything from Paddle Boats to fish and ski's and everything in between. I no longer really want a boat or the maintenance and expense that comes with them (Although wife is wanting me to buy a Pontoon if I decide to buy another boat), what I wanted was something cheap, that could get me on the water and was very low cost and not maintenance intensive. The Intex Excursion 5 fit those requirements. Today I ordered my second one. Three chambered, will not sink if one of the chambers loses air (or even two). I use it on the Tennessee and Hiwasee Rivers as well as Lake Chickamauga. I have been using mine for three years without a problem. There are tons of mod videos, all kinds of accessories, I bought the motor mount and use a trolling motor but they are CG rated to 1100lbs for people and 1850lbs with gear, and rated for a 3.5 HP gas motor. The Sun Dolphins are only CG rated to two persons and 385 lbs. 550lbs with gear. I used to own one and received the letter from the CG about the rated reduction, a complaint on these boats (they are pretty much all the same Pond Boats). The original weight rating was a few hundred pounds higher and Sun Dolphin said they would correct the problem with the rating. They did, by sending members a new sticker showing the reduced weight rating. Today that bright yellow sticker with the rating is there, I was standing next to a stack of them today. It is illegal to remove that sticker and the people going out in Bay's, rivers and the ocean with all that gear and two large men (in some cases) with those boats are breaking the law and if checked by CG or F&G will be ticketed. With boat, motor mount, motor, battery, and a fish/depth finder I bought at Academy on clearance for $75, anchor, rope, cheap lights and registration, I am still under $450. So, the cheapest "good" boat, stable, safe, three times the weight rating as these Pond Boats mentioned, comes with the Coast Guard ID, gear pouch, four rod holders, welded oar locks, oar holders,, grab rope, grab handles, patch kit (I haven't needed in three years of use), hand pump that works well, and carrying case is the Intex Excursion 5 that you can buy today for $125. Before discounting those particular inflatables, look them up here on YT and the mods.
ОтветитьI miss my fiberglass “Riverhawk”.
Ответитьgreat video. didn't know TS had that little boat. i got a pelican pwr catch 100 there. i think its a little tippy which makes me uncomfortable.
ОтветитьPlanning on buying a sun dolphin jon boat in the next few weeks. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьBuy old, recycle, fix, paint and reinforce, no need for new boats. That ALU, fiber glass boat is far more durable and stable that that plastic bathtub.
Ответитьthat seat is so low its a back ache
ОтветитьIve fished many an hour with a buddy in 8' plastic boat. Very stable and works well. You just dont have a lot of room and you cant take a lot and you cant go super far without maybe rowing back :) but in the evenings after work or for a few hours from early morning till lunchtime, we used to burn it up.
ОтветитьBiden boats cost lots
ОтветитьI am going to get an inflatable boat.
ОтветитьI've spent much of my life fishing back bays and a 16' aluminum is what I'd consider minimum for safety. It'll allow you to fish very shallow water but still make it back in if the wind really kicks up. A few years back I purchased an 85 model 17' mckee craft. $3000 but I had to have the engine repaired. Still it has room for three or four people, all our gear and is so stable two 200 pound men can lean over one side and barely tilt the boat at all. For my ponds at home I was given a 12' aluminum and all I did to it was spray a coat of pain on it to make it look like new.
ОтветитьGET TO THE POINT STOP THE STUPID STUFF
ОтветитьBass Pro Shops needs to update the seat swivel assembly on the pond prowler. They loosen up real quick and the bearings fall out.Maybe they can offer a heavy duty swivel assembly.I am not a heavy guy by no means, but I have replaced these swivels 3 times in the last 2 years.
ОтветитьI award you the smartest boat men 2023!
ОтветитьSmart guy buy used boat and rich guy buy new boat
ОтветитьThose aren’t boats. Their bathtubs.
Ответитьwayne do you have any experience with portabotes? I'm trying to find something to store in my apartment
Ответитьcheapasses
ОтветитьHow of a motor you put on it 100 Yamaha..good ..b nice running in the ocean
ОтветитьThe sun dolphin is a dud! Check the reviews, I never saw so many bad ones. Also the reason there are no drain holes is because you have to fill the bottom with water to make it stable. Check out thr kayaks, or inflatables they are great small boats.
ОтветитьMy first boat at age of 12 was 2 wood pallet with 6 five gallon buckets on grandpas stock pond. That was 48 years ago. And 40-50 boats ago. Im now 30 year boat/powersports mechanic and shop owner. I see lots of wanabe's come in shop with a used boat buy and looking at bad news so BE CAREFUL! Also never buy a boat with a bill of sale and no title. And never buy a boat with a motor without a lake test. And if on a trailer and a long drive for gosh sakes learn to check wheel bearings. All can potentially lead to a bad day or possible divorce.
ОтветитьAnybody get a count on the amount of times he said "boat"?
ОтветитьI like it Wayne! If my 1984 Coleman Crawdad ever needs replacement, I might look hard at that Sun dolphin.
ОтветитьWhat about a pelican 10e
ОтветитьBack in the 80’s my buddy got a bass tender. Nice boat but as he got more into fishing the more gear he got. Pretty soon he maxed out on the weight and got a 12 ft aluminum row boat.
ОтветитьAt 74, I have two boats, a 1953 Crestliner 12' decked bow commander, and a 59 Crestliner 15' Voyager, both all aluminum. The 12' is rated for a 30, I've run a 35 on it, but very low freeboard, the Voyager is a decent old boat with a nice splash well large enough to accommodate the fat V4 OMC outboards.
ОтветитьDid your used boat come with a trailer also?
ОтветитьI once had a Coleman Crawdad. That was perfect for fishing small ponds, light enough for one person to handle.yet stable enough to stand in.But,the aluminum tubing framework fell apart to the point where I couldn't use it.I wish someone would make a boat like this again.
ОтветитьI do shrink wrapping and we use a pond prowler for wrapping boats that are still in the water. Picked it up for 50 bucks at a yard sale. It’s super stable letting us stand up and work without much worry.
ОтветитьBuy a new boat? I think I’ll just hit myself in the balls and keep my money
ОтветитьThe cheapest boats are the used boats, all new boats are overpriced.
ОтветитьStill over priced by $ 300. 00 !!
ОтветитьI had a bass raider 10 ft. It was more stable than my dolphin 12 but not as much leg room with 2 people. Wish they made one 12 and wider
ОтветитьCity boy, probably a Democrat too. Or a liberal 🙄. Probably watches CNN all day long and drives a prius. What a jerk
Ответить
