I tried filming myself with the insta360 X3 while skiing last year. Then fell and broke my leg lol

Still can miss some shots. Definitely a good tool for cool shots to sprinkle into regular footage. Happy shredding this year! 🏂🤙

GoPro really not really innovating (outside their image stabilization)after their failed drone.

Insta360 is the best for skiing and Snowboarding. Just make sure you are good at it, could be one fall and camera is gone forever.

I’ve been using the GoPro MAX for years, 360 reframing is the best, most immersive POV footage available. although the insta360 X3 is amazing, it has some spots to improve. I am really looking forward to seeing what GoPro can do with a MAX V2. Rad seeing you on the board again, still remember that Revy trip you and Pete went on. Cheers!

Great video, Matti! I just got an X3 last week. Just curious, what's your preferred way to edit the 360 videos? In the Insta360 app, Insta360 Studio, or your video editor (Pr/FCPX/DR)?

Matti, I loved this video... I love using my X3. How do you do post? Btw: I understand your decision but I must tell you that your videos are by far the most useful, informative, practical, and inspiring.

360 videos are a fun novelty for short clips, but they really don’t compare to a helmet mounted Gopro FPV shot blazing down the mountain. The GoPro FPV shot is far better when it comes to immersion for the viewer, sense of speed, and conveying the exhilaration that you felt that day on the slope, which is really what defines an action camera video.

The 360 shots in this video are good for an Insta post to say, “see, I did this thing today,” but they don’t say, “watch this and experience this thing for yourself.”

Will wait for X4 since it's rumored for next year September/October release. Hopefully X4 has bigger sensor, 8k resolution and adds 10bit.

I use it ALL the time to film wakesurfing and wakeboarding. Being on a tube and have someone flip over you is so easy with the 360 camera

And we also use the efoil to follow each other with the 360 cam

Guess you’re not doing a DJI pocket 3 video? I feel like thats such a big camera

Love you Matti, but the quality just isn’t there vs GoPro’s last 2 cameras. I feel like my content speaks for itself but feel free to take a look. I’d rather have a 1/1.9 sensor and 10 bit color with Log profile than the pole removed and a ton more key framing work to do in post, with still having a muddy image in the end. I understand the appeal for average consumers tho.

I agree. Insta360 perfect for skiing. A bit long the edit but I love the result!

I use a GoPro to film running events, but have bringing Insta 360 along for some alternate shots and views as well. One cool thing you can do is I mounted the stick to the end of an extendable painters pole, so I can hold it 20ft in the air and it looks like a drone for some crowd shots. Great video and review!

Sold mine. Just not a fan of the look, or the editing workflow. I also don’t care about filming myself. 😂

Another great thing is when editing not only can you pull the angles you want from the videos but also screen shot some photos right from the video.

Bought it after watching this video. And don't understand why people keep saying about amazing video quality of the new X3. I would say it might be acceptable on a phone in a good day but not on a desktop monitor.
