There should be a certificate program or some sort of basic degree one could train for if local apprenticeships are not available....even if some of the coursework can only be done by distance learning. At least if someone can complete that, they will be more attractive to local studios, who may want to take them more seriously as an apprentice

Thank you for this video, I'm starting to look for an apprenticeship. I just got my blood born pathogens cert, and CPR card

its definitely tricky as there are piercers in my area, but NONE are APP certified. The only one "close" is 1.5 hours away. I don't plan on moving just yet, so I'm enrolling in esthetician school for now. Maybe once i move in the future i can find a quality studio I'd enjoy

Thank you so much for this! I was so lost on where to even start, and this answered so many questions for me. Thank you!

Have you heard of Master Tattoo institute ? I am doing their body piercing course and they are funded by the board of eduacation supposedly because their rate of getting their students jobs is pretty high. Do you think it’s a good idea to start with that route ?

I made the mistake of cold calling because my body heals so slow I cannot sustain too many piercings or none of them will heal, could I have ruined my chances?

I’ve been thinking about piercing for such a long time, but I’m nearly thirty and it feels like it’s too late for me. Especially since I haven’t had stable employment for the past couple of years (damn the pandemic) thank you for doing this work for free! I just saw today that you’re piercing at a studio local to me, and I want to come in and pick your brain some more.

I have like all of the piercings I already want so I don’t know how to go in and get more to build relationships with piercers when I already have all the piercings I want😭😭 I could maybe go into places for jewelry changes? Idk ahahah

I just landed an apprenticeship today and this truthfully reduced a lot of anxiety. Knowing what to expect and how to protect myself during great opportunity means a lot to me. I appreciate your transparent content.

What if you can’t find a apprenticeship? Are there books that you recommend? Do you recommend practicing anyway while you wait? Sorry if you touched on this already.

I’m physically disabled and I’ve been worried about finding an apprenticeship that can accommodate my needs. Is there room in the industry for someone who isn’t fully able bodied?

Good video. I realized during watching this video that I’m actually not passionate enough about piercings to pursue a career in it. Snake bites are dope but other than that I have little to no interest in them.

Thank you for the information! I have always loved piercings but recently thought about becoming a piercer. This video was very informative on the process and what to expect with becoming an apprentice. I currently work in the medical field as an x-ray tech in a hospital and have been trained in CPR and blood borne pathogens through my job. Would those be classes I would have to retake through other organizations before deciding on an apprenticeship?

this is kind of stupid but what if it seems like you're being nice to the piercer just to get an apprenticeship but you actually arent

few studios take people as apprentices in china, most of them only offer five to seven day long courses and then find you several people to practice on then you are pretty much on your own, and its expensive... they actually take hygiene very seriously but only a few days practicing with plastic models cant be enough, can it...

I knew I wanted to pierce since I was about 16. when I first started getting them. I was an apprentice in NJ in September of 2020. I was a client of this person for about 11 years- since they opened as a tatoo shop so since I was a great client of theirs I got an apprentice. I didnt pay for it , never signed a contract, was never sexually abused during my apprenticeship, but wasnt paid for the first two months. Unfortunately I realized I didn't have the best apprenticeship. I moved to vegas and worked as a piercer for 1 year. I'm going to start my second apprenticeship at another shop that uses quality body jewelry. I'm really excited to start!

This is all really good Information and I really want to be a professional piercer ive had passion for this since I was like 16 I have 4-5 years of personal experience by now doing piercings and really want to get serious about it. I am debilitatingly bad at talking with people i dont know though and i dont trust other people to pierce me so trying to get in the industry by this method seems impossible

I’m curious to know where you learned that apprentices are meant to be paid? I live is Las Vegas & have recently been going around & reaching out to different shops for a piercing apprenticeship & it’s very common for them to be unpaid. In fact, I don’t think I’ve encountered a single one that would pay an apprentice. Am I just applying to the wrong places?? Even blogs and articles online say most apprenticeships are unpaid.
