Great list! I dont agree too much on the square enix rant but the list is on point! Loved playing all of these, i still need to finish kingmaker and deadfire(the last one my save corrupted)
Ответитьi just started deadfire on my own, I'm still not hooked (i am literally 3 hours into it, after character creation, of course) but i will try to keep up since you've recommended it so much throughout this video.
ОтветитьNeverwinter Nights 2 was one of my favorites. Mask of the Betrayer expansion was insanely good.
Ответитьi love this. also smtv is awesome if you love turn based game.
Ответитьsolasta!!
ОтветитьYou get a like for a wild charlie murphy :)
ОтветитьNo love for Dragon Age: Origins? Ok sure, it's a bit more of CRPG Lite than these, but it's an excellent introduction to the genre for those wanting to get their feet wet, rather than just diving straight into the deep end.
ОтветитьPlaying DOS EE forgot how hard it is. Need to really think about character build...
ОтветитьHave u tried Deadfire in turn-based mode? It's the only way I play now.
ОтветитьMay I suggest Divinity Original Sin 1&2? Whole Mass Effect Series, Cyberpunk, The Witcher 1,2,3 and DRAGON age origins?
ОтветитьAnother special mention: Dragon Age Origins ❤
ОтветитьPillars of Eternity 2 also has turn based combat. You choose which combat system you'd like to use when starting a game.
ОтветитьI think it should be worth noting that Pillars of Eternity 2 now has optional turn based combat. Which I prefer over real time
ОтветитьPlay Fallout 1 & 2! Oh boy have I played them too the death :D
ОтветитьHello. I'm a gamer since 1988 and am a C-Rpg/Rpg die hard fan. I think BG3 is the best video game ever made. I will add that for my taste, I think that act 2 is the best experience in video game history. I will not spoil but the Thorm Mausoleum and the Temple of Shar is are masterpiece on every level. Gameplay, ambiance, music, story, design, cut scenes. BG3 is the masterpiece of a life time. Thanks for that video!
ОтветитьJust play MORE BG3!
ОтветитьI’m so happy that Arcanum made the list, such a great and unique game!! It changed my life.
ОтветитьI may just replay Hogwarts Legacy or Fallout New Vegas
ОтветитьI haven’t watched the entire video yet, but I’m just gonna throw out there
pillars of eternity, one and two
divine divinity
divinity original sin one and two Baulders one and two
I went on a CRPG deep dive my sophomore year of college in 2017
If I'm not playing CRPG, I'm playing DOTA. Just classic 5v5 1hr average game. You start. You end. And then move on to the next. The exciting part is playing with different people of different backgrounds trying to achieve a goal.
ОтветитьMight as well bring up "Of Blades & Tails", which has some of my favorite things: pixel art, anthro characters and...wait for it...the ability to respec in mid-game! No more going back to the start to make up for rookie mistakes.
Ответитьanother serie that should be mentioned is warhammer 40k
ОтветитьJRPG’s are not dead. Try Octopath Traveler 2 or Sea of Stars from recent years.
But yeah, BG3 is good and a lot of these others are good too! Dragon Age Origins was the last cRPG before this that really got me into it.
You are dead right about Karlack.
I never was an RPG lover always liked them more in theory thai in practice, but BG3 is great.
For you have an idea how old I am my first RPG was Phantasy star. Could not check stuff on the internet because there was no internet
Long winded video
Jesus H Christ
I hear that dead fire leaves you hanging at the end of the game.
ОтветитьThank you for bringing up Pillars of Eternity 2. I started it 2 years ago, but never finished it. I restarted it today, after watching your video, and it is fantastic. I personally like real-time combat with pause in Pillars of Eternity 2 better than turn based combat in games like Baulder's Gate 3 because it is much faster paced. When Baulder's Gate 3 goes on sale at some point I will buy it. This is a very helpful video.
ОтветитьDisco Elysium is so different, it almost feels like a genre in itself. But it's one of the best games I've ever played.
Ответитьi was so hyped to play DOS2 after BG3,but the game just wasnt for me,the cinematic dialog in BG3 add so much to the game and i missed that in dos2,and the game felt to much hardcore for me,and i did finish bg3 on tactician, and exploration its a little to much free on dos2 i was frequently lost whitout knowing where to go or what to do,i ended up concluding that save scan and searching things on google isnecessary to play the game, and i dont like that. hope this is understandable, inglish isint my first language, obs:im not saying the game is bad,it is just to hardcore for me.
ОтветитьDavid Warner of TRON fame, yo.
Ответитьloved wasteland 3, tyranny, both pillars, both divinity's...couldnt get into shadowrun dragonfall or hong kong. i did try them AFTER all those games so maybe i was too spoiled but the shadowrun games are just too low budge for me. bummer cuz i do like the world ALOT.
ОтветитьI never considered Disco Elysium (a fine experience) a crpg, but it was a long time since I played my last crpg - Arcanum or any DOS based game.
Definitely I will try Original Sin and Pathfinder per your recommendation.
That protagonist name you came up with Noctus Meridius Decimus Maximus Crystallis Novalice is fucking gold 😅😅😅
ОтветитьI finished a playthrough playing as Lae'zel rommancint Shadowheart, now im olaying as Shadowheart and romancing Lae'zel. The cycle continues
ОтветитьIf you're into these 'choices matter' games then I recommend the mass effect series if you haven't played it yet. It's not as in depth as BG3 but your decision still matters across the whole trilogy which is quite impressive. However it's not a turn based RPG and more of a 3rd person shooter.
ОтветитьArcanum is a great game. I am surprised you did not mention Dragon's Dogma.
ОтветитьBG2 has voice acting, but it''s sparse.
ОтветитьBeen playing kingmaker and having a blast, i don'T know much of DnD but it has some similarities in rulesets with neverwinter nights, Bg3 and etc.
ОтветитьBG1 and 2 are good stops if you never played them. BG2 imho is still the best in the series followed close by 3. After that you can try Icewind Dale 1 and 2 or Planescape Torment if you want something more story focused. Tyranny is also a great game way more interesting than Pillars of Eternity.
ОтветитьI'll definitely try to play most of the games in this list, i feel like I've been missing out on a whole genre of games.
Ответитьvery nice video my son
ОтветитьYou explaining how long it can take to respec on pathfinder has peaked my interest I'm in haha
ОтветитьI beat BG3 at the end of January and I went through this exercise on my own. I tried Icewind Dale but I honestly really can't stomach that "real-time with pause" style. I'm currently playing Pathfinder Kingmaker and enjoying it.
Ответить>There's all these time-based quests
Did we play the same game?
I actually played Deadfire in its built-in turn-based mode, and it's also fantastic! It's as good as the one in Original Sin 2. It doesn't feel like an afterthought but something planned for from day 1. I really recommend trying it out that way too.
ОтветитьThe answer is simple. It’s Baldurs Gate 3!
ОтветитьThese are all great suggestions, but I've been finding it hard to go back to the older games. Even those I've played before just seem so impenetrable to me now. Maybe I'm just getting old.
ОтветитьIce wind Dale 2
ОтветитьThe only game I would add to the list is Kin Arthur's tale. I really enjoyed it. Divinity 2 is kind of better than Bg3, but older. Divinity 3 would top even Bg3
Ответить
