I've lived in America for 8 years and I'm still in crisis mode. What now? 😂

I moved to Mexico for part of that time and really enjoyed my time there. Listening to the stories of robbery, etc. is crazy because I know no expats who experienced that in Mexico. News stories? Yes. Personal stories? No. Mexico is so often branded as one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Can't say that's been my experience as a woman traveling solo.

I have met a few people who've talked to me about moving to Costa Rica. I'll send this video their way.

I like to vacation at the beach, we rent a house right on the beach, private beach. It’s nice to go there for a week with all my kids and grandkids. But after four or five days., I am not the only one that’s ready to go home..
when we first get there, of course, you feel like you could just move there forever. But your personal happiness curve soon levels out, then you start to realize , What Dorothy was saying, was true, there’s no place like home..
Being at a tropical resort for a week or two is great, for a week or two, but I wouldn’t want to live there

Want to talk about the crime rate. We have to take all of the crime rate statistics of third world and developing nations with a big grain of salt. A lot of the time the crime is not reported, or even if it is not registered by the authorities and therefore doesn't show up in crime statistics. It's partially intentional, and it's partially due to poor governance. So is the USA REALLY 121st on crime list? No. Costa Rica is less safe than the USA.

Some of these things are very true and some are relatable. I speak Spanish and still had some issues. Have deep pockets, it's not cheap, and assimilate. Keep your nose out of peoples business. Do not go with a save the world mentality.

You guys are all missing the point when it comes to rising costs of living. When you find somewhere that suits you to live, keep it to your dam self the moment you all run around with cámaras telling everyone how nice and cheap it is, guess what it rises 25% because the more people starts relocating the more expensive everything gets, you come, mess up our countries then leave saying it’s costly. It’s you guys so call expats who increases inflation in Caribbean and Latin America

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

You are absolutely right in the video, I am from Costa Rica and I lived in Houston Texas for twenty years, and it is exactly as you say, that is why I decided to return to my country after that time. I believe in the end, like you, that this happens everywhere.

I can't express how much I appreciate your honesty. I have been researching and torturing myself about moving to Costa Rica for 4 years. Covid hit and I was very turned off to the Government of Costa Rica. I want to move out of the US but I'm so comfortable and I'm living in a very safe "bubble" that I am very hesitant now.

The only reason to move to a new country with a different culture should be new financial opportunities.

Published crime rates in the United States, are purposely deceptive. Minority neighborhoods in big cities have an extremely high crime rate, which does not apply to you, a blonde haired, blue eyed white girl, living in Miami. The reason for the elevated crime rate statistics in the United States is purposely hidden, in order to protect the image of colored minorities, especially blacks. Blacks commit crime, in the United States vastly out of proportion to their percentage of the population. This drives the overall crime rate statistics much higher than you or I will experience. The United States government, and associated politicians, absolutely refuse to acknowledge the very high rate of black criminality. They will make thousands of excuses instead of confronting reality.

I went to study ESL in 2009 and loved my experience! I must mention that I was 47 at the time. I spent a total of 3 1/2 months , most of it in San José, every wkend I visited the beauty of Cost Rica. Arenal, Tortuguero and kms of national reserves.
Now I am actually contemplating a more to warmer climates.

Everyone like the idea how cheap cost of living is compare to the us but the cons is um the education system , government, healthcare , making a living etc it all come down not really worth it . I'm not planning to move there but interested in the country. Thus was an excellent and seemingly balanced summary. The one point I didn't understand was health - could have expanded a bit on that.
