Yeah...I overheard someone at work once and caught like the very end of the talk he was like "Yeah, I've saved up about $2,000 so I can get it." and I was like "Oh, getting a used car eh?" since he was borrowing his mother's car for work. And he just looked at me with a straight face and "Nah man, I'm buying something in a game." I could NOT hold back. I just "...Bullshit. What game sells something for 2k?" he kept a straight face and "It's a skin for CSGO" and I just could not believe what I was hearing. I even asked him if it had ANY benefits or anything perk wise or something and he just told me "Nah, it's just a cosmetic skin." and every gear in my brain grinded to a halt. This man is buying a friggin cosmetic item...for $2,000 and isn't batting an eye. I even told him "Dude, no. I just would not and could not buy something from a game for 2k, I don't care if it came with God-Mode enabled. Two grand for something in a game? Hard pass. There is so much more to be done with that money. Save a little nest egg, rainy day fund....buy a fucking car, used but hey, it's something more useful than a cosmetic item for a game." and he went on to tell me that 2 grand for a skin in CSGO was cheap! I just sat there questioning everything. Even contemplated getting the game to make custom skins for the game and sell them.

Man I’m seeing these numbers and imagining a life where I decided to play this game when it came out, got a couple of these skins, forgot about it, watched this video and then retired at 29 lol

id argue this bullsht and all this cosmetic literal garbage junk is hindering innovation. Because now Valve has to toss up do we make an ENTIRELY NEW Counter Strike game and just slightly improve the graphics ontop of the garbage CS GO because so many people have wasted money on skins? or overhaul the entire CS experience like they did Source and make a new innovative CS game? I feel this new era of cosmetic loot boxes is hindering game nextgen innovation. CS Source? no skins....was some of the best graphics AND Physics of its time and a really great game for both single player and multiplayer. CS:GO is the worse CS game to release , no physics at all and graphics sub par even for that time period of release but has made the most money of any CS.
Now Valve has a dilemma, do we create an ENTIRELY NEW CS GAME 10 years later or stick with this old SHT version of counter strike game with slightly improved graphics and no physics because people have spent thousands of dollars on this terrible version of Counter Strike? (The maps inferno/nuke, militia are terrible compared to the original versions, dust 2 and office are the only maps that have remained decent but the new versions of the old maps are terrible compared to Source and 1.6). or does Valve just say FCK it lets create and overhaul and design an entirely NEW Counter strike with a NEW graphics engine and improve CS for the next generation? Well they cant, because people keep buying these stupid skins.
